I always turn off all notifications. I find them more a form of pollution in my life than anything else. So this feature isn't not likely to be meaningful to me.

Android took advantage of OLED properties early on by making simple AODs with time/notifications that continually improves now with widgets etc. But they're specialized to preserve battery life, utilizing mostly black properties of OLED.

But I guess Apple's interpretation of AoD will be the actual full lockscreen being on all the time....

But I can really see the selling point of the 14 Pro models now. No phones have their actual real lockscreen becoming the same AoD yet. I guess Apple wins on that one.

No, the iPhone is just going to light up the time and the widgets in AOD mode, probably in very muted colors. The background will fade to black, just like the Watch.

Still gonna hold out for usb-c in 2023. iPhone and AirPods are my last remaining apple devices on lightning.

Small correction to the article: IPhone 13 Pro’s Promotion display CAN’T go as low as 1Hz, at most 10Hz. That makes the always on display not feasible for the 13 Pro phones.
LOLz. So android can do it (with phones only going to 10 Hz but apple can't?) This is nothing more than holding off a feature to try and get some more upgrades.

this will be a good feature and I will be getting a new phone this year.

All I really hope for is a pro with matte steel sides, and not finger marking polished, but I don't really expect it.
It will be cover time if all shiny shiny.

Was it about one week ago everyone was bemoaning how boring the iPhone 14 series was going to be?
I have absolutely no doubt its going to be boring with minor if any changes from the 13. I will just get it and use it. Not excited one bit unfortunately.

Any ideas on how much extra power draw this will have? I know on the Apple Watch if you turn off always-on display mode you get a LOT more battery life...
