Prosser is not so much mistaken, as his sources are not as high-ranking as Gurman's. Apple's corporate model of operation, where departments do not know much even about what they are working on as a whole and on several variants at the same time, leads to such mistakes. Even in the case of the flat Apple Watch Series 7, he received information that such a watch was being created, and it was! However, it was not the Series 7, but the Ultra. Perhaps he filled the gaps himself, or perhaps his source did not know that the Ultra was in the plan and assumed that it was the regular Series.

This MUST be the biggest joke of this year already in march :-D
The man that cant even predict his own birthday starts to command other "predictors"
Further then "the comming months" he didnt come (which in fact was a year and 3 months)
But atleast he got his name mentioned again on macrumors.
Are you talking about St. Gurman?

Why is anyone listening to that dude?
I can just start spewing random stuff I think might come out in the future and people can call me Prosser.
Does he make money out of this?

I have never had the impression with any of the Macrumors leakers that they shed light on really exciting scenarios.

Rounding, OS design, device dimensions are relatively irrelevant: The boundary conditions for conceivable innovations are too complex (Processor performance, sensors, battery, AI with interfaces to relevant information from apps and meaningful bundling ...) to be sold in quick-click articles.

Since both guys are meant to not deliver that, they are both pretty irrelevant to me, even if waiter Gurman knows his clients better for longer and serves them different.

Tell us what else will you predict from apple in the near future that Gurman didn’t said since its seems easy for you. A lot of heroes emerge after the war
Are you telling me you expected Apple intelligence to be good an on time? ( Cause my reply was about that )

I mean how siri evolved ( or didn't ) was a pretty hint of things to come in ai from Apple.

The fact that they were late to the party and has been struggling ever since they tried....

They put an M4 for ai on ipad long time ago and the ai present on the iPad is lacklustre at best.

There were clear show about apple being in difficulties, no need to be an analyst or a technician to see that they are in trouble with it.

I can predict that sooner or later Mac laptop will be sold without a power supply, just like the iPhone, it might not be soon but it'll happen.

Why anyone takes this guy seriously is beyond me.

The reality is that both of these so-called “insiders” basically know nothing. Software is always going to be the hardest thing to predict as there’s so external supply chain revealing direction.

Guesser vs Guesser.

Whose guesses are the best?

Who gets more social media traction....

... I mean, we could all wait 2 months and actually see it.

I cant see the point of people who spend hours and hours mocking up pictures of non existent software just to be well and truly proved wrong in a few weeks time.

Just wait. We will all see it at the same time. Its not as if whats demoed in June wont be available for another 3 months and then who knows what features actually make it to release in a reasonable timeframe?

In all seriousness, I tend to give Gurman more credibility. He said Apple was facing engineering issues and delays with Apple Intelligence, weeks before Apple publicly acknowledged it.
You needed Gurman to tell you that?

- it was reported before Apple Intelligence ever launched that Apple was internally panicking about being late to the party on AI, was fast tracking AI development for iOS 18, delaying their iOS redesign.
- it was repeatedly reported that not all of the features slated for iOS 18 would make the official release.
- it was repeatedly reported that specific features were moving to .1, then .2, then .3, then .4, then iOS 19.

Anyone paying attention to the news could make the same pronouncement that Gurman made, which is by the way, the same way he got his information.

I still wonder will Apple decide to delay the user interface overhaul for one year and turn iOS 19.0 into something like MacOS X 10.6 Snow Leopard, where there will be no significant changes but there will be a LOT of bug fixes, improved memory optimizations, improved battery life control and better integration of Apple Intelligence.

Well it’s not just that, he has a great track record when it comes to many things. Lots of new product info he breaks first. Click on the Mark Gurman tag on the bottom of the article, and you can see the rumors Gurman reported on. Then judge for yourself if he’s reputable or not.

My sources* tell me the next versions of iOS and macOS will see the return of the Platinum theme.

*me, I’m the source

Gurman doesn't break anything any more. He lost his real sources when he was hired by Bloomberg, they ran for the hills when he was no longer writing for a generic Apple blog.

All Gurman does now is weigh in at the eleventh hour before announcements to confirm what we already know is coming.

He broke that AirPods 4 would come in 2 models-

Standby mode-

Home Screen icon customizations-

There’s a lot more, some more obvious than others. But I think these are too specific to say he was guessing. I should point out too, that AirPods 4 rumor was a year in advance.

„apps, menus, settings, and more will have a more rounded aesthetic with glass-like styling modeled after visionOS“ - sorry, but 🤮
First of all I don‘t want visionOS UI on the iPhone. Second I don‘t want everything to be transparent and glass-like - it may look cool, but it dramatically reduces usability and needs more processing power. Higher CPU/GPU demand will render older iPhones unusable (which might be the one and only reason).

Maybe we will see iOS moving away from its design and Android phones filling the gap by looking even more like the than outdated iOS …
