I’m not an analyst but I think that the first 3 items on your list will be close to the minimum possible configuration so there will be bigger/faster memory, hard drives and GPU if you want but the price will be a disappointment for you.

Edit: I wouldn’t mind being wrong about the price.
Apple phased out hard drives on 2020 iMacs. They should have done that as early as the late 2012 models.

Hard drives are still useful devices in computing but they us up a lot of space and are better in desktops and server racks.
But Apple doesn't actively sell them anymore.

Apple instead should have stratified their Macs between slow (<1GB/s) and fast (>1GB/s) SSDs at different storage sizes instead.

Instead of a SSD + HDD Fusion Drive why not a Fusion Drive with Fast & Slow Flash Memory SSDs? 512GB Fast Flash + 8TB Slow Flash.

I sometimes run off external drives with probably 500 MBps and macOS runs fine that way. I think that I've even run off 300 MBps in the last five years. So I wouldn't have an issue with different tiers of storage speed but it might be difficult to market and confusing to customers. Does Apple still sell backup devices like the Time Capsule? I'm pretty sure that those would have HDDs. It might not be worth Apple's time to sell backup drives because they are so inexpensive but it would make it easier to do one-stop shopping.

Really hoping this has at least ONE legacy USB port. Myself and 2 friends are looking to fully make the jump from Windows to Mac, with the sunsetting of Win7 (I use Mac laptops but Win desktop). We all need USB for connectivity and thumbdrives for when we do need to share files with Win users. Buddy was all set to buy the 24" but found out they removed the USB from it. I have about 6 USB devices and need at least one legacy port and am not interested in dongles.

Then you shouldn’t buy a Mac. There is backward compatibility on the Macs with the use of a dongle, but legacy ports have been gone for the past 5yrs. Dongles aren’t very expensive where I am though, so I don’t find it as annoying as you may.

I have an Anker powered USB hub including three high-power ports. I don't have a 24 inch iMac but I would use this for legacy devices if I had to. Yes, it kind of ruins the neat look of the iMac or mini but that's life in dongle-land.

Or forget about dongles, just buy new USB-C cables for your devices. Ie for a printer you maybe need USB-B-to-USB-C, it may cost cheaper than a dongle...

Not for the iMac they haven't. In fact they are still on the 27" iMacs sold by Apple right now, but I don't want a crappy Intel machine.

Anyway, I'm all for usb-c or lightning or thunderbolt, or even some new faster standard we don't have yet being developed. The issue is there are lots of devices that don't need fast transfer speeds and making them use a different port is just expensive and a headache for the users.

And then there are new products like the $2,000 drone I just bought that doesn't have a USB-C port. USB-C is not a universal standard and people still need to plug in a lot of USB legacy devices.

Maybe dongles are just a minor annoyance, but I've always admired the clean look of the imacs. And I'm used to tons of USB ports on my Windows machines. Anyway, I'm a techie who always loves having way more ports than I need so I say give me it all, HDMI, Displayport, USB, USBc, ethernet, thunderbolt, whatever. Who knows when I'll need to use it.

Then… get the dongles…?? I don’t really understand the contradiction you’re going with. “I like iMacs to be clean but am totally ok with the port extensions on a windows”? Also what does a drone have to do with it..?

Can't wait for this to release so certain groups of people can lose their s**t again when their pet features that they've convinced themselves are a shoe-in aren't included while the rest of us enjoy what will surely be a great machine!

there are MANY people who are disliking the new design.if you simply browse comment section of any new iMac thread, you’ll see that pretty this design isn’t well received by everyone.
It isn’t expected to be well received by EVERYONE. That would be ridiculously unreasonable. But it is being well received sufficiently to be a success.

it's nice, but Apple genius separates imac24 and future prosumer iMac, and the price, I think will be double for a bigger model.
As I always love all iMac lineup, when I see the new M1 iMac 24'', I'm immidiatly understand it's not for me.

I suspect there is a lot of wishful thinking put across as expectations for the forthcoming big iMac that will be way off from what we actually get.

Why are you lauding Apple for wallet snatching?

I found Apple prices very reasonable. My previous iMac cost $2000 in February 2010 and it worked well for more than 11 years! I don't feel I need to spend on upgrades or buy new ones. When the GPU unit stops working in September 2020, iMac still continues to do the job – I was able to boot into safe mode. And even continue to work (what I literally do, with some drawbacks of course). It is amazing how cost-effective that machine was!

The only sad part was Apple stop supply parts to official repair shops for the almost 12-year-old models. So, I need to replace the GPU unit by myself.

Currently, I brought the 2020 model, but I have a $500 option GPU 5700XT. If you see the current crazy market – that GPU costs $1300.

If they tag it as a "Pro 32" and it takes the place of the iMac Pro 27 then it would be much higher.
I strongly doubt it will be an iMac Pro replacing the iMac Pro they killed off. A lot of people are fixated on this “Pro” idea just as they were fixated on the new iMac most assuredly being chinless, and we saw how that panned out.

Indeed if it isn’t a “Pro” I can see some around here being annoyed with that.

Do we know if Apple plans to have a larger 30” iMac and also a new incarnation of an iMac Pro?

Or will these now be one in the same?
