Do we know if Apple plans to have a larger 30” iMac and also a new incarnation of an iMac Pro?

Or will these now be one in the same?
Given the capabilities of the M1 and the projected M1X or M2 the next iMac should be a quite capable machine probably on par, if not better, with the discontinued iMac Pro. Given that we‘re most likely to get one machine that can be spec’d as desired. And I seriously doubt it will be as ridiculously expensive as the old iMac Pro.

Hopefully Apple will separate the display from the computer, instead of forcing people to buy huge displays. It also would be quieter not to have a fan. Perhaps the display would have an a12 chip to give it stand alone functionality, letting the computer devote its resources to computing.

“I…believe”
“seems to indicate”
“It likely will be…”
“I don’t think…”

What a ridiculous non-story, backed by literally nothing.

"Apple will replace 27" Intel iMac with...something."
I mean this site is called Mac "Rumors", and not Mac "Factual Information" and we're all here anyway.

But the problem is many members here don't react to it being "Rumors". For example the article reads, "In 2025 Apple may require charging for MacOS like they did in the past".

This forum gets all huffy and puffy and gets mad at Apple shouting rude obscenities towards the company and trashing it. You'd think the article was FACTUAL based on the dramatic responses but it's only a RUMOR and nothing has been even remotely confirmed by Apple.

I realize that this is not an Apple only complaint but if they would publish an accurate roadmap of what they have planned then we could put a lot of industry guessers out of work and most people would be happier. Or know sooner that they will be unhappy.

You could still have the out of the blue feature or product announcement but since it is truly a once in a while thing it would actually surprise people.

The reason why Apple is successful with their innovations is because they DON'T put out roadmaps of what they have planned. Business 101, don't share your future plans on the internet when you have direct competition.

"...a thinner overall design..."

Why? Why does Apple feel the need to make a GIANT desktop computer even thinner? Does anyone transport a Pro Desktop? It's stupid and causes nothing but problems related to overheating. Form over function.

If only people here thought as sensibly as you this site would certainly be a better place. With the slightest news about Apple like, "Apple MAY stop selling iPhones in year 2095 due to a POSSIBLE suggestion made by a NEW Apple employee that COULD have whispered in Tim Cook's ear". This generally sends this forum into overdrive with the pitchforks against Apple. It's the same all the time and if you are familiar with this site you can't deny it.

Why do TV manufacturers feel the need to make giant TV's even thinner ?

Does anyone transport their Giant 4k TV ?

They look better, plain and simple

Yes, real practical reasons why you'd want a thinner lighter TV.

And it's not that aesthetics are irrelevant, it's when that goal exceeds it's limit. If making the TV thinner caused it to go black because it was overheating, I'd be happy if it stuck out of the wall and extra two inches, thank you.

I haven't seen any reports of M1 macs overheating ? ... why should an MX series be any different.

So what's the negative aspects of a thinner TV? It doesn't need to be any thicker since its using OLED or mini leds. I think you're just against it because you applied the sacrifices Apple/Jony Ives has done on their designs but that doesn't apply to TVs.

Something like the LG CX at 65 inches
- needs a remarkably heavy base if you are not going to wall mount it
- feels scary to lift and move. I expect the glass is stiff "enough", but it feels like twisting it incorrecly while lifting will crack it.

I'm not sure what better tradeoffs are, but this is only going to get worse as 80"+ starts to becomes the new 65", just like 65" has become what 48" was ten years ago.

One possibility is we just accept that TV's are things that you choose, and hire someone to install on a wall. Normal people don't move them around the house or between houses.
Another is perhaps we can perfect and lower the price of "rolled up" TV's enough (look at LG's "Signature TV") that they become the new standard. But at $30,000 for 88" a fairly drastic price reduction is necessary!
