I’m very eager to hear the official details of new MacBook Pros. Can’t wait to say bye to my late 2016 15” (only one speaker works and 3-4 keys double-type) and say hello to a new 16” M4 Pro MBP!

So many people are looking forward to an M4 Mac computer. I think that’s nice. With the MacBooks there is always so much negativity because they are not exactly great devices for a lot of people but these M4 Macs are gonna make a lot of people very happy. Really like seeing it. I don’t need one but I wish all future M4 Mac users lots of happiness and smooth experiences and positivity 🤗

" With the MacBooks there is always so much negativity because they are not exactly great devices for a lot of people"

Wut. The vast, vast majority of Apple Mac customers buy MacBooks.

I have never been more excited for an Apple product refresh. My M2 Pro Mini is still an amazing machine that I use 8 hours a day and I can’t wait for the upgrade!
Honestly, why can't you wait for an upgrade? I have the same machine and same utilisation time but although I like to update because I can, I can't imagine what the new one would bring to my workflow that the old one can't...

Yes, the devil on my left shoulder says update update update, the angel on the other shoulder asks why why why...

👿👼 😁

I wonder how a 32GB M4 Pro Mini will compare with the 32GB M2 Max Studio? Performance could be pretty similar? Better single thread, better graphics? Lower memory bandwidth?

And how will the price of such a machine compare with the base Studio?

I have always like the iMac design & wanted one since the intel redesign (had an older used one for a bit) but at the point I am finally there for an all in one non-upgradeable design

earlier this year I bought a MacBook Pro with the m3 pro chip, hoping it would replace a mini + tablet and it’s not the same. Add in I don’t have a great monitor & I just want to trade in my mb for a m4 imac w/ usb c

i would love 27 or 32” & 120hz but I know that’s a pipe dream & not worth having separate devices and all those cables

We have to ask ourselves, will a current M3
Mac do the same thing as a M4 Mac or provide a similar experience to Apple Intelligence? The answer is yes, but only 20% slower. The question for everyone, are the M4’s with the upgrade?

I wanted to upgrade my M3 iMac to a new one with more RAM and storage, but since I have a second 27" 4K UHD Display with matte screen and up to 144Hz, the iMac Display seems much worse for my eyes. A Mac Mini or Studio with two of those relatively cheap displays would be much better.

If it's AppleTV (re)sized, conceptually it also going to be lighter. A stiff HDMI cable can make it hard to keep an AppleTV facing straight ahead. What will keep this cute/tiny "Micro" Mac from being yanked off the desk or readily twisted by accessory shifts, etc. For example, I plug in an optical drive and then move it a bit for better access. Does that risk rotating/moving this Micro? If I barely move the HDMI cable in the AppleTV, it can significantly rotate.

A reason for Apple to make an accessory is to put some weight back on this desktop to hold it in place. How (modern) Apple-like to break out some heft to scratch the "need a redesign" crowd's itch, keep the price the same or raise it a bit and then make a towards-essential accessory at an added cost to be able to have one feature that comes with any of the existing design: it's heavy enough to hold its spot on a desk. Geniu$ by APPL. 💰💰💰

Else, just think this trough: how are you buyers going to keep this Micro from moving at relatively light touches/shifts of cables/shifts of power plug, etc?
I actually think it will be quite a bit heavier than an AppleTV. I don’t expect those problems for most.

Problem is MacOS doesn’t scale properly to most 4K monitors. At 27” you definitely want at least 5K or higher. Your eyes would be much better off at 4.5K on 24” for sure. Or buy a Studio Display. I have a bunch of displays and the Samsung 4K looks like crap compared to both XDR and Studio displays.

I would think it’s up to the customer to decide for the customer’s own self and use-case.

And on top of that, not all of us would be going from an M3 to an M4. Think it over. A lot of us are on M2, M1, or still on Intel! For ANY of those, the M4s would be well worth the upgrade.

But thanks for trying to be helpful. I think.

I'll hope right with you... but I don't share those expectations. Apple loves to pair "lightest" with "thinnest/smallest" in the marketing spin... though I don't think either term matters at all in a DESKTOP computer myself... particularly this one which was already about the size of a typical hardback book.

If I had all say, I would have added maybe 2 slots of m.2 to the freed-up space in the classic design, giving buyers an opportunity to add up to 16TB of internal storage at market competitive pricing. And if I felt customers needed a refreshed design, there's plenty of colors available and/or tweak the shape enough to make it visibly "the new one." I thought some of those 2-tone colors with a glass top mockups or the 7 colors of Mac mini from about 2022 (basically the same, MANY colors of iMac applied to the Mac Mini body) looked quite great the last time rumors spun about a refreshed design.

But what do I know? Perhaps everybody wants a Micro-sized Mac for some reason... even if adding such storage to it will involve cables and enclosures likely to take up at least as much of the former design's footprint... if not more-to-much-more.

I could buy 3-4 of this for the price of a Studio Display. It's a HP Omen 27K with all kinds of cables included. Next to it the iMac Display looks like an annoying mirror.

I I choose "low resolution" (whatever that means) it supports HDR and 144 Hz. The standard 2560 also works with 144Hz but HDR only with those "low resolutions" or only 2048x1152 what would be less than my smaller iMac, what is set to 2560.

It's now connected via USB-C to Thunderbolt on a Dock, because the Dock takes both TB ports on the iMac. All other connections like to USB-C directly on the iMac or HDMI 2.0/2.1 only work with 60Hz and DP 1.4 also on a TB4 Dock, didn't work at all. I have no clue about those things.

I wonder what kind of USB that is, if it only works correctly (120/144Hz) with TB when connected directly to the iMac or Dock. It says "USB C (full-featured, no PD)" and there are also 2x USB 3.2 (5Gbps/15W).

There is also a USB-B (like on printers) connector and cable from B to A what seems to be for KVM Data, whatever that means.

I would not buy a Mac Micro and rather get the Studio. A Desktop shouldn't be that small and have enough ports. And not be like a MacBook Air without a display.

Thank you for calling YouTubers content creators. They are in no way proper journalists. I almost gagged when Max Tech tried to call himself a journalist in one of his past videos.
Are “journalists” even really journalists now? There are some content creators who are better journalists than journalists. The line seems to blur these days.

Coming from a M1 min, the M4 should show a good boost overall. The new mini better have a 32GB option or I’ll pass. Just dread the cost of 32GB Apple will charge.

The problem is I can get a mid iMac with new matching keyboard and mouse for about the same price as the 27” display. If I want to trade in my MacBook I can recoup most of the cost.

Why would I buy the 27” display unless I had money to throw away? Especially since it’s only 60hz?
