I think there are addressing.the Audio/sound , photograghy , and/or movie ‘studio’ concept rather than ” look! we ape copied Microsoft product name ” notion.

Probably more about generating clicks ( on twitter) and ad views on rumors sites (i.e. make money ) than anything to do with clarity .
I fear you missed the point.
And BTW Apple had the idea first but it was Micro$oft that did something real with it. Now it's Apple's turn again.

So the Ma

i can’t imagine this being anything less than $1999 to start.
$1299 would be a 30% increase over Apple's last 27" Thunderbolt display. Given that technology improvements are typically balanced by steadily decreasing costs, 30% seems reasonable to cover recent inflation, plus a healthy margin increase.

Bracing myself for movie theater popcorn pricing....if the previous post is to be believed, $1500 for the base model. Probably 2 grand to get the 32GB of RAM, etc. Tim Apple draining my wallet!!!!
Yeah, $1399 at least for the base price.

Comparing the base M1 mac mini and base M1 Macbook Pro, $699 vs $1299.
Thus it makes sense for the base M1 Pro Mac Studio vs M1 Pro Macbook Pro 14, $1399 vs $1999.

What if Apple realizes, with the non-expandable / upgradable aspect of Apple silicon, more folk might not be too keen on throwing away either a good display or computer when one or the other breaks or is just too slow...

Maybe they actually kill off the entire iMac line-up, just going to headless desktops & assorted Apple displays...?
THIS makes totally sense. That's the exact reason why I would NEVER buy an iMac.

The "headless" iMac finally arrives after 24 years of vast numbers of peoples clamoring for one. This is what will likely replace my 2013 "Trashcan" Mac Pro if that old guy ever gives up the ghost (or two years after Apple stops supporting it with upgraded software).

I hope the display comes with camera, microphone, and speaker. An all in one solution would be great. Essentially, my wish is that the new display is an LG Ultrafine 5K with all metal body and better built quality. Also the speaker in the Ultrafine 5K is not as good as the one on the Thunderbolt Display, hopefully the new monitor will have a better speaker if it indeed has speaker built in.

I think Apple will kill the 13" laptops and leave the low-end laptop market to the new multi-colored 14" M2 MacBook...

For the laptops, it would make sense to simplify the lineup. The new multi-colored Macbook "Air" for consumers, the 14/16" Macbook Pro for pros. The 13" Macbook Pro is an oddity and should've been removed.

But the iMac is too iconic to be cancelled. And it's in Apple's design language for an all-in-one. The idea is simpler setup, not having a separate monitor (and extra cables).

After having some thought, actually it's more probable for Apple to actually axe the Mac Pro. If this Mac Studio works and gets the job done for many pros, I have a feeling Apple might just silently fade out the Mac Pro and just make a more powerful Mac Studio instead. In the world of everything being integrated, the Mac Pro's expandability becomes an oddity. And Apple probably wouldn't want to go back to the trash can route. So they just make a new brand, Mac Studio, and have it overlap the Mac Pro bit by bit on the higher end config until the Mac Pro fade out (or one last hurrah with the rumored one with updated Xeon CPUs).

Apple should just use the same six-speaker array (and three-mic array, and DAC) they have in the 14"/16" MBPs & 24" iMac...?

An all-in-one solution? Like an iMac? :D

I don't think it will have cameras/mic/speakers. Those will add complexity and cost for many who would just want an Apple monitor.

an iMac without the computer :)

I agree with your assessment that the display is unlikely to have mic, camera, and speaker given LG Ultrafine 5K is there and the Pro Display XDR does not have those.

Man, Jeff was so young back then (as was I)...

The All-In-One design language started WAY before the Bondi Blue G3 iMac, technically the Lisa would be the first All-In-One from Apple...!

Yeah - it’ll hopefully just be a really good monitor, period.

All in one, easy solution with speakers, webcam, blah blah - iMac.
Power and multi-monitor blah blah - Mac Studio.

TBH with my current iMac I run external speakers and a 4K webcam anyway - far superior to anything built-in. I’d definitely want to spec speakers, camera etc for Mac Studio + display(s).

Here’s to the “power users” yay!

Integrated webcam, mics, & speakers (along with TB4 hub) a given; how else would FaceTime be used with the new Mac Studio and 27" 5K Apple Studio Display...?!?

32" 6K Pro Display XDR does not have these, but Apple does market a Logitech webcam that seems custom designed to go with the PDXDR, and speakers would probably be some powered monitors the end user pro would spec...?

The current M1 mini already offers much more space inside than the Intel model ever did.
Heat dissipation in these models is already much better than in the MBP.

There must be some additional motive for such a large case.
More ports and higher thermal ceiling for the M1 Pro/Max config at the highest end (maybe even a duo/quad setup?).

Agree.
Someone who is already purchasing a separate machine and monitor (Mac Studio and Studio Display), would probably prefer to have one's own preference for everything, whether one actually wanted a webcam or not. It's a BYODKM+WS (+webcam and speakers).

Someone who wants everything integrated is better off with an iMac in the first place.
