Prepare to be disappointed. Apple isn’t gonna change their pricing structure, so you might as well move to PC.
When 4tb costs under $100 to produce in the next few years, will Apple keep selling 512gb upgrades for $200?

It’ll have to change someday.

“you might as well move to PC” - have you considered that the people complaining about storage pricing on Mac, want to own a Mac, and not a Windows PC?

“oh, you don’t like one aspect of a product? you might as well get a completely different product.”

If there's nothing for the Mac Mini, I wouldn't mind too much. I can still buy an M2 Pro-equipped Mac Mini in late spring, and if Apple updates the Mini line with the M3 chips this upcoming fall, I won't mind too much. (Aside from the four extra gigabytes of unified RAM when maxed out, there's minimal differences between the M2 and M3 Pro chips.) I won't need a new Mac laptop for probably another four, maybe five years (I've had this M1 MacBook Air for nearly three years now).

I’m hoping the new Airs also get the landscape cameras. One would think that would be the case if the base 10th-gen iPad already has it and the new Pro is expected to have it. But there’s nothing specific mentioned about landscape cameras and the Airs. And we all know how frustrating Apple can be with non-intuitive surprises.

I can’t wait to move from the 12.9 ipad pro to the 11 if the screen on the 11 isn’t nerfed this time. Moving the front camera to landscape is a huge upgrade for me as I take most business calls on the iPad. I will also appreciate the magsafe upgrade. Hopefully the new keyboard doesn’t suck, because I love the current magic keyboard.
I'll be getting the 11" also. 12.9" just too heavy when out and about. I'll just keep my 12.9 as an extra monitor in my office.

While all the iPad maintain a 3:2 aspect ratio it'll be a tough sale in my household. The 16:10 aspect of the Samsung Galaxy Tab is far better suited to our usage… which is media consumption. There's no possible path for any tablet to being a laptop replacement.

I get you can't make something for everyone however while its not wider than 3:2 plus OLED then it's not for us.
You can fit almost the same size video in an iPad, with the iPad having a more useful aspect ratio for use cases other than media consumption.

May scoop up an M3 air, but my iPads are just fine.

Agreed. I don use my iPad very often anymore. The screen has been large enough since the iPhone X that I don’t feel the need to set the phone on the charger when I get home and switch to the iPad for media consumption like I did when the screen in the iPhone was smaller. I had an 9.5” iPad Pro I bought about a year before the X came out and when I finally did upgrade it I went with the 10th generation iPad. I didn’t see a need to spend the extra money on an Air or Pro. The only feature the Pro line has I’d really like is Face ID and that remains the case with this these new models. It’s just not worth the extra money given my use case. If I need more CPU power, more RAM or a larger screen that’s what my MacBook Pro is for.

Well said.

Some people seem to think they should be able to buy a Porsche at Chevrolet prices. They should just buy the Chevy and stop complaining that they are entitled to the Porsche. Porsche shareholders are not going to subsidize someone's purchase, nor should they.

Few people, especially professionals, that threaten to abandon Apple over their discontentment with pricing, particularly people who make their living in creative disciplines, are actually going to abandon their investment in software and peripherals.

There is frequently a sense of entitlement present in those kinds of complaints and they frequently turn their ire towards shareholders who are the owners. Companies change when the sum of market environments or economic forces make them. Pricing discontentment has a constant presence, but exerts negligible responses unless it is on a scale that affects overall profitability.

The price selection between new Macbook Air and present base Macbook Pro M3 will be interesting to witness.

Lets see what Apple does here.

What's sad is that they won't bring out a 11" air. That would be an amazing system, my 2012 11 air is still an amazing machine that I would replace if they brought out a new version. I'm sure they think it would cut into sales of ipads or or something stupid like that (i.e. no touch on macs) but it seems like all the hardware I like they drop (pointing my bony fingers at the iphone mini).

Is the 13” M1 MBA going to be discontinued? (I would guess Yes)

What will happen to the low / entry level MBA? (I would guess a 13” M2 MBA will replace the current 13 M1 MBA but retain the M1 price point)

Errr... have you tried reading the original post which effectively said 'if they don't do cheaper upgrades I'm moving to PC' - this was in response to that - Apple are not going to do cheap upgrades so they might as well switch now...

I'm surprised that the mini gets no love from Apple. It's a perfect size for my uses but then again my phone is the 13 mini which Apple says no one buys.

The iPad mini is enormously popular with pilots
(which I realize isn't a mega market, but it is a market with lots of disposable income and a true "need" for the device)

Apple will likely launch new iPad Air, iPad Pro, and MacBook Air models "around the end of March," according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman. In his Power On newsletter today, he said production is well underway for the new iPad Pro models and a new 13-inch MacBook Air at a minimum within Apple's supply chain in Asia.

Below, we reiterate Gurman's expectations for the new iPads and Macs, along with other rumored features and changes for the devices.

iPad Air

The iPad Air lineup is expected to gain a new 12.9-inch display size alongside an updated 10.9-inch model.

Rumored and/or likely features for the next iPad Air models include Apple's M2 chip for faster performance, a redesigned rear camera bump, Wi-Fi 6E support, and Bluetooth 5.3. No major external design changes are expected.

The current fifth-generation iPad Air with the M1 chip was released in March 2022.

iPad Pro

The next 11-inch and 13-inch iPad Pro models are widely expected to be the first iPads equipped with OLED displays.

OLED technology would enable the next iPad Pro displays to offer increased brightness, more vivid colors, higher contrast ratio, lower power consumption, and other benefits compared to existing models with LCD panels. Apple already uses OLED displays for the latest iPhone and Apple Watch models, excluding the lower-end iPhone SE.

Due to the switch to OLED, the next iPad Pro models are expected to be more expensive.

iPad Pro models released in 2017 and later support ProMotion, allowing for a variable refresh rate between 24Hz and 120Hz. OLED and LTPO display technology would likely allow for the refresh rate to drop down further to 10Hz or lower to save battery life. iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro models can reach as low as 1Hz while in always-on display mode.

Other rumored and/or likely features for the next iPad Pro models include Apple's latest M3 chip for faster performance, MagSafe wireless charging, a redesigned Magic Keyboard with a larger trackpad and an aluminum top casing, and a landscape-oriented front camera. There may also be rear camera design changes, like on the next iPad Air models.

The current iPad Pro models with the M2 chip were released in October 2022.

MacBook Air

While the current 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Air launched a year apart due to production delays, the models should be updated simultaneously this March. The key new feature for the laptops will be Apple's latest M3 chip.

With the M3 chip, the next MacBook Air models will gain hardware-accelerated ray tracing and mesh shading for improved graphics rendering in games, including more accurate lighting, reflections, and shadows. Apple already updated the 14-inch MacBook Pro, 16-inch MacBook Pro, and 24-inch iMac with the M3 chip last year.

No major design changes are expected for the MacBook Air this year, but the laptop will likely gain support for Wi-Fi 6E like other Macs.

Apple last updated the 13-inch MacBook Air in July 2022, while the first-ever 15-inch MacBook Air was released in June 2023.
