For those who dont want to wait article by article for everything here you go

the company is planning to unveil:

And these are 100% so KUO was wrong again ..he was the only one who said the reality headset is delayed by 2-3 months and not coming to wwdc

You sound very confident but it seems like those top two bullet points could be chopped off and moved to their own event. That is a lot of stuff to cram in to one event. Unless of course it’s a “no new features” release and there’s not much to talk about, which would be fantastic.

I would love to see them spend a lot of time on the headset then when it comes to iOS just say “everything is the same but better. Autocorrect works now. Siri understands you. Nothing has changed, it just all works now.”

And while I’m in fantasy world, they’ll also say “We heard your feedback about the TV app and are reverting to the iOS 15 app.”

Same 😍 I always thought the colors of those old iBooks were beautiful. I'd love to see the iMac colors on the MBA.

I would imagine most people on these forums like the standard colors, but probably not as unpopular an opinion once you get out of these forums. Of course we all like the M3 speculation, how many cores etc etc...

But when I worked at the Apple Store in 2010–2011 I would bet 90% of the people who came in had no idea what the specs meant, esp when it came to students who were picking something out for their parents to buy. Had there been colors, the 18 year olds would have went crazy.

And now with the company even more popular over a decade later, I would bet not much has changed. I am back in school, graduate school as a 39 year old. Quite a few of the students half my age have MacBooks, and the only color I have seen is space gray. Again, I would guess that if people could pick colors, they'd go crazy with them matching their room, fav color, whatever.

A non-profit I help out got a new iMac I setup last year. The iMac they chose was not based on speed or storage. They picked blue because it matched their logo.

Myself, I will always (?) buy silver. My first Mac, a PowerBook, was silver back in 2003. And my latest setup is silver, a studio display with MBP M1. I can’t imagine anything other than silver… but for a company that is in the trillions who has a large portion of customers (students picking with parents buying) it only makes sense for colored MBAs.

So the latest summary is that the MBA 15" won't be released at WWDC and will have an M3 chip. However, it will be released at WWDC and have an M2 chip. Although maybe not. Did I get the summary of it correct?

Pretty much, the M2 15" MBA is just expected soon. From now to mid May as a separate announcement, or during WWDC as an another hardware announcement.

I think the first MacBooks that will carry the extremely powerful M3 chip would-be MacBook Pro 14" & 16" models. Which are due to announce in the first quarter of 2024. Possibly in January.
That's unlikely, based on history, I think all the lower end MacBooks including the 15" will launch with M3 in the summer, the Pros, will launch end of the year or early next year

Apple is out to hoover up as much cash as it can - especially if the Mac sales drop is accurate. Nothing would surprise me less than if Apple released the 15" MBA in June with an M2 and then bumped the 13 and 15" models to M3 late in the year (October/November). Plenty of examples of them updating the MacBook line twice a year when Intel actually were hitting their timelines (new generation of chip in the Autumn, slightly faster clocked versions in the Spring).

If they are going to announce an updated 13.6” MBA, what else could they do but add an M3 processor? It’s too early for any external design changes. This whole story about them bringing out new machines with M2 processors seems fishy.
Exactly. No way new 13” Airs and MBPs are coming without new processors. So either the rumor is wrong about new smaller models coming or about the chip.

Maybe they’ll finally come in colours and not miserable shades of grey.

Mac sales are down 40% Tim, it’s grim. Let people desire a Mac again and give them some colour!
This is what I’m waiting for before my next Macbook purchase. I would upgrade today if they dropped Macbooks in colors, esp if they had white keyboards like those rumored renderings last year 🤤

Spot on, this report does not make sense. Why wait to announce at WWDC if all it has is an M2 chip.

It's like throwing darts at the dart board and hitting the bullseye. Somebody will say "I was right" when it was a fib.

It all falls under fact that rumors are just shifting reports that might never be reliable until Apple says here it is just what you wanted. Apple at any moment can change their plans, making the life of someone claiming insight pretty worthless. :D

Yeah, another nonsense rumor. It's either only a 15" MBA with M2 or it's both 13" & 15" MBA with M3. It can't be both a new 13" and also no M3.

On one hand, I wish they'd update the iMac at WWDC. On the other, maybe I'm fine with waiting until closer to the end of the year... because when I do hit the buy button on that orange M3 iMac, it's going to be a nearly fully-loaded spec computer that's gonna need some save-up time.

I'll hang onto my current Intel MBP and wait to get to the 15in MBA when the M3 comes to it. 3nm process is vastly superior to the M2's 5nm.
My now 9-month old M2 MBA is already notably faster than the M1 MBA I used to own, which was much faster than previous Intel MBs I had. Even if you switch to a pre-M3 model it will be an enormous improvement over what you currently use.

The bet would be that "new macbooks" maybe doesn't include new 13" MBA or MBP this time around then, but rather the 15" and maybe that'd be it.

Something a bit uncharacteristic for Apple would be a price-cut on the current 13" M1/M2 MBAs. I would count this as a possibility due to the economic downturn and increased difficulty in trying to sell premium priced laptops.

Developers don't like any sign of a stagnating platform adoption rate so eating some of the margins might be worth it to not suffer long-term. Yeah I know I sound like someone arguing for the same thing in the early 90s.
You would've been right in the early 90s. They almost destroyed their business by charging way too much compared to the competition

One scenario could be to discontinue the M1 MBA and slot the M2 MBA 13 into the M1’s place price wise. Then introduce the M2 MBA 15 at about the same or just under price as a M2 MBP 13.

Another scenario could be to simply discontinue the M2 MBP 13 and replace it with the MBA 15. That would maintain the clear delineation between the mainstream Air line and heavy duty professional line of Pro 14 and 16.

Unless there is a plan to replace the M2 MBP 13 with a new redesigned model they could push a bit more upmarket.

So…
- M1 MacBook Air 13
- M2 MacBook Air 13
- M2 MacBook Air 15
- (New) M2 MacBook Pro 13
- MacBook Pro 14
- MacBook Pro 16

Or…
- M2 MacBook Air 13
- M2 MacBook Air 15
- MacBook Pro 14
- MacBook Pro 16

I think the second scenario is better. It’s simpler, clearer and covers all bases because the M series Airs are now easily capable of a reasonable degree of pro use as well most any mainstream use.

Or they could call the new 15 just Macbook rather than Air.

the comments... hahaha.
what a whiney bunch it seems we've become.
no matter what you are offered, there will always be a newer better option not too long after.

this happened in Windows laptops for years.
things were being updated every 3 to 6 months.
Apple laptops languished for years without effort.
Now they get some love and people still complain. Geez.

Buy what you need as you need it.
Then it's the best laptop you can get...

Apple is working on a larger 15-inch MacBook Air, an updated 13-inch MacBook Air, and an updated 13-inch MacBook Pro, and at least some of these new laptops will be announced at WWDC in June, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman.

MacBook-Air-Multiple-Sizes-Feature.jpg

In his newsletter today, Gurman said the new MacBooks coming at WWDC "probably won't" feature Apple's next-generation M3 chip, and will instead be powered by processors "in line with" the M2 chip. This information suggests the 15-inch MacBook Air will be powered by the M2 chip, but it's not entirely clear what it means for the 13-inch MacBook Air and the 13-inch MacBook Pro, as those models are already equipped with the M2 chip.

15-inch MacBook Air rumors began in early 2021, and it appears the laptop is nearing release. Apple's suppliers have reportedly ramped up production of 15-inch display panels for the laptop, and the machine recently surfaced in App Store developer logs.

Apple is expected to announce macOS 14 during the WWDC keynote on June 5, and Gurman does not expect the update to include major changes.

No M3 no interest and seems the technology drought is going to continue and very little from Apple this year. TSMC said 3nm plant in AZ won't be ready to end of year, but other stories are they are having trouble with US employees and finding qualified employees in US. Also appears Apple users are starting to realize the M1 was a big boost in performance, but the M2 and from rumour M3 aren't going to be that much faster then M1 series. Especially for the typical Apple users. The M1 chips are fast enough that humans are going to be noticing the difference when working with the faster chips. Moving forward going to be harder and harder to convince user they should upgrade their systems.
