That is a fair point. In single core performance, the A14 is a bit faster (at least on paper). The A12X/A12Z is more powerful in multicore and GPU performance, but not by much. Everything else about the 2018/2020 iPad Pro is better from a spec comparison than the iPad Air, but I simply cannot imagine Apple essentially not upgrading the iPad Pro from October 2018 to 2022. The 2020 iPad Pro is not really an upgrade over the 2018 in terms of how Apple has upgraded every other iPad Pro previously.why? They have pretty much zero competition in the super expensive premium tablet space. Very few people are in the market for $1200 tablets, it’s a niche market, most people will opt for a really nice laptop at those prices.
Just like the iPad Mini, it’s a niche space that Apple owns. That’s why they can go 4 years between updates. They could easily keep the 2020 iPad Pro for another year and it would still be the best tablet on the market in its space. What does the A14 do that the 12X can’t?
