You‘re mistaking „chip“ for CPU. Every new Apple Watch got a new „chip“, i.e. SiP, even if the CPU wasn’t always updated. (The CPU was updated yearly up to the S4, then again for S6 and S9.) Because of this - and other reasons - it is very misleading to call subsequent iterations „basically the same watch“. There were hardware and feature improvements with every generation of the Watch.

Details - Schmetails. S1 to S10, U1 to U2/3. All the exact same watch, no differences at all.

True that.

I sold my AWU2 in advance of today's announcement.

I think I was very fortunate with my sale. Sold in August for £575. And since I had it with eBay's 80% Off listing fees I maxed the profit.

So now I wait to see what comes out today.
What you going for it ultra isn't updated? I think I may get series 10 SS if all there is black colour

If not updated I may get another AWU2 brand new… there are good deals around.
But we'll see what the Series 10 brings.

Glad I got an Ultra 2 yesterday with a discount of almost £200 😎
I think you'll be well pleased with it.
It is a very nice watch…

I love that Gurman can claim he's right if:

  1. Apple Watch Ultra 3 with a chip bump only
  2. Apple Watch Ultra 3 with the same features as the normal redesigned watch
  3. Apple Watch Ultra 3 available in black
  4. Apple Watch Ultra 2 available in black
  5. Apple Watch Ultra 2 available in black and with a chip bump
Since he has predicted all of these separately based on his inside sources in the last 3 weeks. I mean at some point if you predict every single version, I guess you'll hit on one of them and then you can say you predicted it!
The beauty of the multiverse is he is always right … somewhere!

Got the series 6 at release.
I’ve waited patiently for 2 years passing on 8/9 and u1&2.

If no 3 , guess decision is final, and getting the 10. Odd

Looks like the AWU2 was not upgraded this year.

It's the same watch. It's like Apple releasing the "new" MacBook Airs with a M1 chip in 2024, that's simply the same laptop as the original from 2020 in it's essence. It's more like a M1 MacBook Air V1.1.

The Apple Watch Series 7 and 8 are Apple Watch Series 6.1 and Apple Watch Series 6.2 at best.
