Unlikely - the CPU speed couldn't increase without faster LPDDR4X memory (which AFAIK doesn't exist) or overclocking it beyond spec (which Apple likely wouldn't do) or setting a different CPU multiplier for the memory (which Apple likely didn't build the chip to do)
There's still the possibility of LPDDR5 for the new MBP's.

I wasn't aware the M1's CPU clock is limited by current RAM speed. Could you share the calculation that shows this?

He knows “between September and November” has a name, right?
I think the new iPhones will launch between August and October

Well, you know "between September and November" is an inclusive range, and means "sometime between September 1st and November 30th", and not "October, the month between September and November", right?

Wow!! What a hard prediction to make!! It is like predicting ‘Rain will fall somewhere between September and November and sun will continue to rise each morning‘

Considering that there were several rumors of production delays, fab issues, and an early 2022 release rumor, then, yeah, it was kind of a hard prediction to make.

Especially since it's not a prediction, but actual information based on sources the journalist has.

But since you find it easy, would you bet $1000 that the redesigned MBPs will land between September and November? How about $10000?

It's been ready for years! I'm still rocking a 2015 Pro

2015 Pro? Young'un! 😛

Seriously though.. I've managed a data center at Intel. I've seen firsthand some of the CPU problems they've had. I haven't updated by choice; When these new Macs come out this fall, I'm pulling the trigger regardless. But I have to say that I'm extremely satisfied with how fast this little MBA is still going, and is has been rock solid since Sierra came out, while High Sierra crashed on it within 5 minutes of it being loaded.

But to go from Lion to Sierra and still have this guy running? I definitely can't complain!

Not bad! Man I loved that machine, bought the top one right when it came out and used it until 2019. The one and only thing I prefer about the MBP 16inch is the display. And somehow that's pretty sad.

I got a top-of-the line mid-2014 BTO 15" MBP in early 2015. I've been happy with nearly everything about the machine (display, keyboard, connectivity) except its speed with Office, which I found too slow from the start. Even with a fresh install of the latest versions of MacOS and Office when the machine was new, I found Office to regularly give me delays with Word, PowerPoint and Excel.

This is especially true with Excel—with complicated documents, even just clicking from once cell to another can give me a spinning beachball. If I didn't need the portability, I probably would have been better served by a top-of-the line iMac.

I blame that on Office for Mac being much more poorly optimized than Office for Windows. I don't get the delays when using Office for Windows in Coherence mode via Parallels on my MBP.

I hope that MS's native build of Office for Mac on AS is either much better optimized than it is for Mac on Intel—or that AS's higher speed is sufficient to overcome any coding issues with Office.

That's why I'm holding off for the next MBP, especially if it comes out at 14". For being lightweight, this MBA has been a solid workhorse. I can't do anything like Youtube Live or Facebook Live from it without the fans making the MBA feel like it's a stove that I can boil water on, but for being 10 years old now, I really can't complain.

I was ready to pull the trigger a good 2 months before WWDC, but as the rumor was that it was going to be released then, I held off on it. So right now, I'm on a slight race against the clock to see which one is going to happen first: the MBA giving out, or the new Macs coming out.

I am so looking forward to these! I got a taste of the M1 with the MacBook Air but 16GB just doesn't cut it for me. My 2015 Air is out of gas and I'm eager to update! It will be interesting to see how supply constrained these are. I plan on maxing out the RAM and getting at least 1TB of disk - hopefully that will be one of the "magic" configurations in stock at the Apple stores.

I need an m1 macbook pro, should i wait for these or just get one now?
If you don't need 16GB of RAM or the larger screen then there probably isn't a reason to wait. But at this point, especially if you keep a machine for three or more years it would be silly to not just wait a couple of months. I decided to try out an M1 MacBook Air since my 2015 Air is seriously out of gas. I loved it! I reluctantly took it back on the last day of the return window because 16GB of RAM just wasn't cutting it with a game I love.
And that was my downfall. If I hadn't bothered to try running games on it, I'd probably still have it. But I did load some games on it and it wildly exceeded my expectations. I fully expect with these newer MacBook Pro's I will no longer need to maintain a Windows gaming machine - so whatever money I would have put into that beast is going all in on this new Macbook Pro. I'm maxing out the RAM, CPU and then depending on where Apple is with the storage pricing will determine how crazy I get with storage. For the kinds of games I play (Cities:Skylines - my main problem due to all the workshop content I subscribe to, Civilization, etc.) the MacBook Air was smoking my Windows desktop PC. I was shocked at how many Windows game ran under Crossover (commercial version of WINE) with no fuss. The Windows ARM preview ran great under the Parallels beta and I got even more games to work. A few like Dyson Sphere Project loaded, but had visual problems - the menus worked but the playfield didn't. There were some shader issues with the Apple GPUs that hopefully will get sorted; that was the only serious issue I had. It was rather shocking, in a positive way and like I said I'm hoping I can just standardize on one of the new MacBook Pro's for everything I do. Indeed I may even spring for the 16" and just make it my primary computer - even though I love the form factor, size and weight of the Air. I suspected these new 16" machines will be a lot more streamlined than the Intel versions - at least I hope so!
I could see native Mac gaming maybe start to actually be more than a niche thing - the M1 was that good. For an entry level CPU no less! Then again I'm sure Apple will figure out some way to marginalize and screw with game developers. Dunno why they continue to be so obtuse when it comes to dealing with gaming.

I wonder how the delay in the M1X release will factor into the A15 release in 2 months..
Will the a15 have faster single core than the m1x meant for pro machines?
Going to be a tricky fall for marketing.
I don't think it will be that tricky. Rene Ritchie made some good points reminding us this really isn't anything new:

I have not seen any suggestions that the 13" MacBook Air will ever be replaced by a 14" MacBook Air.

If there was a 14" Air I would definitely consider it over a 14" Pro. I'd even like a larger than 14" Air but I doubt that will ever happen.
There are a lot of rumors and people who believe and guess.

Just search the "Macbook Air 14".

Apple then releases its products and then you'll see who guessed right.

The “media” keys set really is the most useful. They should just focus on that and maybe add a dedicated “emoji” key, which would be used a lot in apps like Slack, messages, etc.
The Fn key works as the "emoji" key if you press it on its own.

I can’t speak for the rest of the good people here but personally I find it quite tiresome to hear these rumours all the time.
Not because I don’t appreciate the news as such, but because I feel like we’re on this constant what’s next treadmill, and most of it is quite a bit off, feels like we barely have time to appreciate things when they arrive before we’re whisked off to the next hype train. Often I just wish things would slow down just a lil bit instead of this mad conjecture dash

I am shocked by others writing their 2017 and newer MacBook Pros slowing down so bad.. I have a mid 2012 MBP and it still runs all my tasks. Logic, final cut, etc. everything runs smooth. This was the last MacBook Pro with dvd drive on board. But I got rid of that drive and installed a fast ssd instead. I also changed the slow on board 4gb of ram against faster 16gb. Everything runs fine. Just the SD card slot goes on strike from time to time. I will buy a new MBP when it gets at least two standard usb ports back. The „new“ thunderbolt/usb-c combined ports are all well and good, but all my external hardware comes with standard type usb plugs and I don’t want annoying adapters to ruin my life.

I’ve been here for a while… If it was wild it’d be all good, more along the lines of frenetic banality or so it seems to me. Soothsayers and Oracles now replaced by analysists lol

They will be released anytime real soon between now and the heat death of the universe.

But wasn't the last rumour that they had already gone into production?
