If they include Wi-Fi 6E support, then they are worthy of upgrading to, otherwise, NOT !
Very few people talking about this but I really hope to see it. Even new Android phones have it (Galaxy S21).
Would be great for quick network backups to a NAS.

I probably wouldn't buy a 6E router until they come down in price (they are like $500+ now), but I keep my macbooks for 5-7 years.

I'll be upgrading either way though - my personal machine is simply too old to keep using. (2011 mbp 13)

The new MacBook Pros are expected to be high in demand thanks to several significant features and changes.
More relevant is the fact of a missing model of that dimension in over two years.
And tomorrow there will be weather..
This guy is ridiculous. This generic talk does not even deserve the therm rumor.

Honestly, I hope they still push to for some kind of innovation with that space on the keyboard. It seems to me there could be some subset set of function keys, without simply reverting back to the industry standard? Dunno... I'm not super invested either way, but I do like the Touch Bar for volume/brightness (and the occasional software-specific continuous "slider" function)... So maybe a small touch screen, above the right hand, with 5 or 6 function keys above the left (to the esc key)?
i would like the apple pencil to work on the trackpad.

I personally just bought a 13” M1 MBP. The deals are way too good to pass on, and my job keeps giving us 5+ year old HP’s with the latest windows updates…thanks but no thanks! I’ll work on my M1 MBP. Say no to struggling! The wife is getting a MB Air next month but we don’t know if we should wait or just go for it, good deals around as well for those. This should be a good year to upgrade a lot of stuff for us, we have 2 year old iPhones and iWatches. Apple just needs to release the new AirPods Pro and everything will be golden 😬

There’s no delay in A15 chip.

he SPECIFICALLY said delay in m1x release, you even quoted him.

Good one Gurman. I'll bite.
I predict it will happen eventually.

Thanks, you can all carry on with your day now..

Wow!! What a hard prediction to make!! It is like predicting ‘Rain will fall somewhere between September and November and sun will continue to rise each morning‘
I don’t know man, I’m actually still not sure about any of these predictions.
If only Prosser could finally come and fix this uncertainty once and for all right?!… right.

The predicted release date doesn't add any new info. But the tidbit that the delay is due to the screen and not the chip is interesting. [I had assumed they weren't yet released because of the time required to get the new chips into production.]

I can’t speak for the rest of the good people here but personally I find it quite tiresome to hear these rumours all the time.
Not because I don’t appreciate the news as such, but because I feel like we’re on this constant what’s next treadmill, and most of it is quite a bit off, feels like we barely have time to appreciate things when they arrive before we’re whisked off to the next hype train. Often I just wish things would slow down just a lil bit instead of this mad conjecture dash

He knows “between September and November” has a name, right?
I think the new iPhones will launch between August and October
I think it is a lexical ambiguity. More accurately stated, between September 1 (or more likely, the September iPhone event we expect) and November 30, with November being the latest he expects based on current information.

And I would bet if they are not announced by November 15, we won't see them in 2021.

Ideally, they would find a way to add a marginal feature that is otherwise exclusive to Macs, to work their way out of a problem they created by removing them to begin with, so that they don't have to admit they backtracked.
ie. magsafe to phones instead of using more common solutions.

"The Function key has been virtually unchanged since its introduction in 1965. Apple revolutionized the function row with the introduction of the Touch Bar. Now, we will take another step no other visionary could by introducing travel and tactile feedback to [X innovation], providing dynamism to discrete system inputs, leaping beyond those boring F keys while providing 3X the user experience of the Touch Bar."
Make the Touch Bar display the F keys always. There problem fixed. While others can still have the Touch Bar and enjoy its features.

Unpopular opinion: Apple will likely update the design but keep the M1, possibly M1X.
A laptop isn't like the iPad Pro and they would not want people hesitant to buy because they are releasing major updates too close to each other. There will be tweaks and improvements, but my guess is iMac Pro - larger with more cores and/or RAM (a la the higher capacity iPad Pros). Then, with the re-design there will be the MacBook Air (possibly being retired or merged with next level up), MacBook (14"), and MacBook Pro (16") with segmentation similar to the iPad. iMac, MacBook/Air will have the Mx series chips, while the Pro devices will get the MxX as with the iPad Line - maybe even a modem with integrated 5G.
Release updates every 2 years or so to get around releasing too frequently and scaring off customers/cannibalizing sales, maybe with occasional MxXS models to keep the "innovation" hype without alienating customers.
ETA: they might keep the "Pro" and not have a non-Pro "MacBook". Again, like the iPad it might be "MacBook Pro (14")" and "MacBook Pro (16")" with slightly higher end features going to the larger model.

On one hand, those “Analysts” runs out of leakers because of Apple crackdown so they start mumbling random stuff now?

On the other hand, those comments…jeez. It’s like those analysts owe you something or what? Can’t provide “accurate” prediction so suddenly its an unforgivable crime? Like what? Nothing is taken for granted, ok?

I think you are forgetting one key point in all of this - Apple clearly mentioned that all of their Mac products will be transitioned to the Apple Silicon chips during this 2-year transition window!!

This means that all Macs - MacBook Air, MacBook Pro (all variants, 2 ports, and 4 ports, 13-inch, and 16-inch), iMac, and Mac Pro, will have some variant of the M1 chip in them in the next year.

So there will not be an update of Macbook Air M1 13 "to 14" coming in September - November?!

I'm interested in Macbook Air 14 "but Macbook Pro 14" will probably come out before Air 14 ". The question is how much more expensive Macbook Pro 14" will be compared to the current Macbook Air 13".
I have not seen any suggestions that the 13" MacBook Air will ever be replaced by a 14" MacBook Air.

If there was a 14" Air I would definitely consider it over a 14" Pro. I'd even like a larger than 14" Air but I doubt that will ever happen.
