Reintroduced through an alternate verse in Computer Blue:wonder how PR is going to reintroduce the F keys
Glad MR published this report. We all need a bit of reassurance after being “scarred” when they didn’t launch at WWDC.
An October event sounds most likely unless Apple uses Steve’s “One more thing” to unveil them at the iPhone event.
Although this would be unusual, I actually think it would be huge to announce them at the same time and would draw a lot of attention to the new machines for a largely iPhone-centric audience.
Unlikely - the CPU speed couldn't increase without faster LPDDR4X memory (which AFAIK doesn't exist) or overclocking it beyond spec (which Apple likely wouldn't do) or setting a different CPU multiplier for the memory (which Apple likely didn't build the chip to do)Not necessarily. M1X should be clocked higher than A14 and M1.
I don’t need Pro performance but I would prefer a 14” laptop over a 13” laptop. Not sure if I'm picking these up now or I'll wait for the Air refresh
I so love my M1 Air.I personally just bought a 13” M1 MBP. The deals are way too good to pass on, and my job keeps giving us 5+ year old HP’s with the latest windows updates…thanks but no thanks! I’ll work on my M1 MBP. Say no to struggling! The wife is getting a MB Air next month but we don’t know if we should wait or just go for it, good deals around as well for those. This should be a good year to upgrade a lot of stuff for us, we have 2 year old iPhones and iWatches. Apple just needs to release the new AirPods Pro and everything will be golden 😬
It's been ready for years! I'm still rocking a 2015 Prowill you bank balance be ready too??![]()
Thanks, that’s very insightful— your parents must be proud.I predict Apple will release them when they think they are ready
Increased battery life🔋 (fingers crossed) is a huge reason why I’ll purchase on Day 1. I’m hoping for at least 15 hours on the 16” MacBook Pro. That would last through almost any flight. The following 3 specs are making me a day 1 purchaser of the redesigned MacBook Pros:
- redesign (and hopefully nearly bezeless display)
- Magsafe
- MiniLED display
How about this? A compartmentalized Touch Bar to mimic the function row. you get the tactile feedback of a physical key, but the screen and customization of the Touch Bar. win win.Ideally, they would find a way to add a marginal feature that is otherwise exclusive to Macs, to work their way out of a problem they created by removing them to begin with, so that they don't have to admit they backtracked.
ie. magsafe to phones instead of using more common solutions.
"The Function key has been virtually unchanged since its introduction in 1965. Apple revolutionized the function row with the introduction of the Touch Bar. Now, we will take another step no other visionary could by introducing travel and tactile feedback to [X innovation], providing dynamism to discrete system inputs, leaping beyond those boring F keys while providing 3X the user experience of the Touch Bar."
You are right. Totally forgot about this!! I am so used to my M1 MBA which has 2+ days of battery life that I take it for granted now.Increased battery life🔋 (fingers crossed) is a huge reason why I’ll purchase on Day 1. Something amiss with your OS install then, reinstalling making it better????For sureeee!! I never experienced such slow downs as I did with my 2017 15” MBP. Was great but literally downhill on its last year. Never happened to any other Mac I’ve owned and I’ve had tons. M1 is the future. It’s a big deal.
Nothing wrong with OS. that computer is gone already. It’s just a major slowdown. At least 3 others I work with and some on this forum with the same computer noticed slowdowns as well.Something amiss with your OS install then, reinstalling making it better????
Maybe dust built up or bad contact in between the CPU/GPU and the heat pipe.Nothing wrong with OS. that computer is gone already. It’s just a major slowdown. At least 3 others I work with and some on this forum with the same computer noticed slowdowns as well.
Ah, thanks I appreciate it. When I still had it I took it in to Apple a few times to look at it and they couldn't find anything wrong with it. Now I pretty much balance work on my Mac Pro + MBA M1.Maybe dust built up or bad contact in between the CPU/GPU and the heat pipe.
Just trying to help, thinking out of the box.
