As for the "modest hardware changes", I suspect they are starting to hit limits with current technology. Apple does a pretty amazing job of—through their suppliers of course—miniaturization and squeezing more and more functionality out of tiny stuff. But there are still practical physical limits.

I think we might be still a few years away from big breakthroughs (e.g., non-invasive glucose monitoring through additional sensors or blood pressure sensors, etc.)

And...they need to get battery life up.

Does anyone know what "fairly extensive upgrade" and "notable changes" means in WatchOS? Because I got nothing. 🤷🏻‍♀️

The only thing I can think of is this:

A more finger gesture interface API to the watch face.

Imagine I tap on a watch face. Hold the tap, drag my finger to the left, or right or top or bottom and a new screen appears with new options including 3rd party apps (that need to be updated to new finger mode)

Then you can do something quick in the app, release.

and your watch face snaps back.

I always wanted an interface like this for the watch.

Has the Mac Pro ever been about single core? I thought it was for intensive multi core workloads.
Not really; but you now how non sensible people will react to the "benchmark" scores.

This is a chance for Apple to reverse their strategy of working from the bottom up. Personally I think more people would rather have Apple work from the top down. Although working bottom up does afford Apple the opportunity to fine tune things before the top end gets new stuff. 🤷‍♂️

"watchOS 10 should be a 'fairly extensive upgrade...'"

They're going to enable cellular on wifi-only iWatches, I just know it!

I would love if we could select which metrics for the workouts screen.
Kind of like complications.
I love how 3rd party running apps are so much simpler with just 3 fields per screen with differing sizes. Meanwhile Apple has 5 fields, all the same size.

Agreed! I hope Apple blesses us with more dark mode Apple WatchOS 10.
Rather than having to wait for Apple to "bless" us with minor updates; I'd much prefer if Apple would make watch face development available in the developers' SDK.

Apple releases too few and too bland faces and is trapped in the mindset that a wrist mounted screen must only be a watch face with all other functions hidden behind "complications".

Mark searching real hard for a story for Sunday morning:

These non-sensible people are not the target market of a Mac Pro, so that's irrelevant.

Bottom-up makes more sense economically. It's also a tried-and-tested recipe since the iPad Pro A-X chip days.

Apple Watch to feature "modest hardware changes"? Could have printed that every year since the release of the 4 or 5. It's amazing how little the Apple Watch has changed since 2018-2019 for those of us who don't want a satellite dish on our wrist.
Agreed, but I'm hopeful we'll see a little more evolution with the upcoming switch to 3nm processors. Some leap in battery life and/or form factor should become possible by that.

Why not vOS? Or vrOs? 'xrOS' sounds lame...

Well, it's all just guesses and speculation now anyway. That said terms like VR, AR, and XR designate different things. They are Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, and Extended Reality respectively. I'm not sure I understand the subtle differences between AR and XR. Someone else might be able to shed light on that. But VR is a whole different animal.

Since we have no real idea what Apple is planning, it could be any, all, or none of these. My guess though would be leaning toward AR/XR vs. VR.

I don't care, as long as XR doesn't include 'smell-o-vision' or some kind of physical interaction. Just the thought of 'smell-o-vision' turns my stomach. There are smells I try my best to avoid, and having a 'glitch' in the 'scent generator' could spell doom for humanity (or just me:oops:). And I've smelt some really horrific smells that I hope never to experience ever again, including dreams. 🤢🤢🤢🤢

This would be newsworthy if someone claimed that MacOS 13.4 will NOT support new Macs. Otherwise this is about as interesting as “New Cars to support rubber tires…”

My thought was the 'system extension' days. I didn't have issues with them, but I heard that some people did. I thought they were shims for new stuff. But does make me wonder if they might be going back to something like that, although any 'new macs' will ship with a (hopefully) tuned and stable macOS version that supports it. Sounds like 13.4 will come out soon-ish rather than when they ship new hardware. Interesting, but not unheard of I guess. *shrug*

Time will tell...

Neat. That's what I eluded to earlier this week.

To allude is to refer to something in an indirect manner.

Elude usually means to escape from or avoid danger.

If Apple does do what is mentioned then the Air is going have faster single core performance than the flagship Mac Pro product. How does that make sense?

It makes sense if the M2 Ultra is clocked at 4.2GHz and the base M3 is clocked a full GHz lower...?
