This would be newsworthy if someone claimed that MacOS 13.4 will NOT support new Macs. Otherwise this is about as interesting as “New Cars to support rubber tires…”
Yeah, I can't believe Mark Gurman went out on such a limb to predict this. Lol.

Extensive update, but provided no details.
In other words, this picture sums up what he just provided.

I would love if we could select which metrics for the workouts screen.
Kind of like complications.
I love how 3rd party running apps are so much simpler with just 3 fields per screen with differing sizes. Meanwhile Apple has 5 fields, all the same size.
You can actually change which metrics are shown now..
On the watch workout > type eedit > workout views..

Does anyone know what "fairly extensive upgrade" and "notable changes" means in WatchOS? Because I got nothing. 🤷🏻‍♀️
I'm hoping for much better integration with 3rd party apps and development altogether:

All third party devs should be able to create entire watch faces and complications and have all of it show up in the AppStore.

Apple then sets up guidlines and approves everything before it hits the store in order to avoid copyright infringement etc.

You'd get complications and special edition watch faces from all kinds of brands and designers, celebrities, etc. Some for free, some paid, some freemium (like all other products on the AppStore).

Apple Watch is an untapped market and a missed opportunity with 3rd parties being limited to creating (very limited) complications.

Unfortunately, Apple seems dead set on perpetually doing exclusive partnerships with very specific, high-profile 3rd parties for Watch, like Nike, Hermès, Disney, etc.

And it always wants to tie new Watch faces to the release of a new WatchOS, as if a certain layout/design of complications or watch face is only possible this way (which is b.s. besides the ones that rely on sensors exclusive to newer Watch models).

But I guess that's one of the ways they keep newer AWs feeling fresh despite fewer and fewer hardware upgrades every year. 🤷‍♂️

Ugh...
Probably wont be upgrading then I guess.
I refuse to put Ventura on any Macs I own. The systems prefs are so unintuitive that you need to use the search function to find the things that used to be quick and easy to go to.

Hey Apple, go back to being Apple and less like Windows.
The whole point was that Macs were easy, logical, useable, intuitive.
They are not a fashion statement that has to change every season.

watchOS 10 should be a "fairly extensive upgrade" for the Apple Watch this year, with "notable changes" to the user interface, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman. However, he did not provide any details about specific changes planned.

In his weekly newsletter, Gurman added that only modest hardware changes are expected for new Apple Watch models coming later this year.

Apple is expected to announce watchOS 10 at WWDC, scheduled for June 5 through June 9. At its annual developer conference, Apple is also expected to introduce iOS 17, iPadOS 17, macOS 14, and tvOS 17, while Gurman continues to believe that Apple's long-rumored AR/VR headset and its xrOS operating system will be unveiled at WWDC.

In the meantime, Apple has seeded its latest round of betas, including macOS 13.4 for the Mac. Gurman said Apple will add support for new Macs in macOS 13.4, which is likely to be released to the public in May. Apple is rumored to be planning a new Mac Pro with an M2 Ultra chip and new MacBook Air models with an M3 chip.

I mean this isn't a surprise. WatchOS hasn't seen major UI/software enhancements in many years (other than the significant jump for runners in the Workout app with many new metrics). Since this year seems to be a slow hardware year for Series 9 and perhaps Ultra 2? the flash will be from software. I also expect to see Ultra (hopefully even Gen 1 units) get full built in trail maps with dynamic routing (Garmin has this and Apple admitted to some fitness specific journalists who attended the launch last year that they knew it was a weak point and intended on addressing it) and both regular and Ultra watches get compatibility with bike bluetooth power meters and cadence sensors.

As for hardware? I suspect Series 9 and "Ultra 2" will get an all new processor for the first time in over 3 years, hopefully bringing not only speed increases but battery life improvements AND I suspect both get new colors with the Ultra now being offered in a dark Titanium option in addition the regular silver color. I think 2024 with Series 10 and Ultra 3 we will get somewhat newer hardware and looks for the first time in 3 and 2 years respectively for the Series and Ultra lines.

3rd party and/or realistic watch faces please. This is the only thing I’ve wanted since the Series 0.

You know what I would love as a change to the watch. You can choose what you want your Rings to be. So for example, instead of Stand you can have steps as the blue ring. Instead of Move you can do a specific exercise for the Red Ring. I also wish on the monthly challenges you can get the next challenge after you finish the current challenge, or on the last day of the month. Maybe it's my OCD talking, but I do get a little anxious when it's the end of the month and I wonder what challenge apple will give me for the new month, to the point where I actually will stay up past midnight every end of the month just to find out.

Also, more digital watch faces. Heck, I would love a watch face that shuffles each day.

So has anyone found support for new Macs in the 13.4 beta?

But, to me, the potential for 'badness' is large with a device that is literally strapped to a human being. Yeah, I am very comfortable for what the Apple Watch is being used for. Turning that over to more third party wishes and desires is problematic for me.

The Apple Watch is EXACTLY the device that people hoping to exploit human activity, etc could ever hope for. That is very concerning for me. The Apple Watch is a red line for me. If Apple doesn't play this well, they risk losing me, and a lot of others (I hope).

Some developers would likely make some outrageous and disgusting watch faces. Yeah, I'm not exactly comfortable having that nastiness on Apple products. YUCK, hard pass.

I think the Apple Watch can be worse, and I hope it never gets that bad. Not even close.

I just want an Apple Watch Extreme...
  • Titanium chassis & bracelet
  • DLC Space Black finish
  • Stand-alone cell service (meaning no iPhone with active cell service needed)
  • Cameras
  • Ability to setup & sync with either iPhones or iPads
  • Ability to act as hot spot for iPads
  • Ability to access Federation Teleport Relay System

A new OS version will have new features. Lol loving the detail. Outrageous rumors are better than these type of rumors.
I’d rather hear that watchOS will have built in AI and a hologram FaceTime feature than the OS will have new features. 😂

Apple Watch to feature "modest hardware changes"? Could have printed that every year since the release of the 4 or 5. It's amazing how little the Apple Watch has changed since 2018-2019 for those of us who don't want a satellite dish on our wrist.
Soooo, it hasn’t changed - except for the completely new redesign with double battery life and better everything… except for that. No change. Ever. Because you don’t like the drastic changes made, you submit there have been no changes.

People amaze me.

you don’t want it, fine. But don’t complain about no changes.

The Apple Watch is a gem of software and hardware design, with an extremely high level of craft. It has millions of users who love it. It would be extraordinary for Apple to make big changes just for the sake of change. I called BS on Mark Gurman’s report.🍸🙀 I’m not saying there won’t be new stuff though.🍸😹
