I’m a fan of how Wear OS does certain things. For instance you can have a minimal watch face…but with an upward swipe you can get the date, steps and message notifications.

And of course enough watchfaces to last you a lifetime.

It’s a completely different model that’s double the price. Might as well be a different product category.
It’s the same price as the stainless. And cheaper than the titanium model was. So - it’s not double the price and it’s an Apple Watch all the same.

Everyone complained the higher end models were not differentiated outside of materials. Now it is differentiated. And people complain.

Huge change for that product last year. And people claim they don’t change anything. Smh.

You just don’t like the change. That’s all. It’s ok. But it was a massive change in product design, capability, and pricing value (far more capability at the same or less price). Remember, they rumored the watch being over $999.

I feel other than biometrics, there isn’t much more you can do to improve an Apple watch unless…

The Apple Watch could somehow replace your phone. I’d love to just go out without my phone and only my watch. Although you can buy it will cellular, thing that holds me back is the fact that it has no camera. In case of an emergency, it’s good to have a camera to document things. I don’t even go outdoor jogging without my phone in case I need my camera.

Maybe this will happen when they figure out the “camera under the screen” technology in year 2058 (j/k). Maybe they could make a camera that’s built into a watch band like some kickstarters have tried to do.

If Apple Watch added a camera, it would give me a reason to upgrade. As it stands, I struggle to justify having an Apple Watch in general.

Thanks for that tip.
Although I don’t see a way to have one larger field or any way to separate two fields at top and bottom positions so they’re spaced apart. Yeah, I’m very picky in how i like to read my metrics.
I believe the font auto adjusts the size based on how many fields you use..
But yeah, pretty limited compared to what you’re looking for.

Interesting. Would Live Activities cause a hit to the already meagre battery life?

On the contrary. Live Activities are bite sized apps that use the push notification service pioneered in iOS would use very little processing power and would only be pinged for changes. They come packaged with an iOS app but have their own image assets and are built primarily on Apple’s own templates.

They’re perfect for wearables where you’re only meant to interact for a short while, rather than engage for long periods. I believe they’re meant for the Watch and Reality glasses, first appearing on the iPhone to build out third party availability.

Apple short should have brought all the versions in sync with the M1 Macs so iOS 17 MacOS 17 etc...;)

Since they come out yearly, maybe they should be called MacOS 2023. Although if they can’t get a version out by the that year then that could make things confusing.

Lol. The majority of potential buyers only care about features and couldn't care less what it's made out of. As far as any normal user is concerned, it's double the price for a case that they don't even know the material of and cellular connectivity they will never pay for.

What they did is like if they made the iPhone Pro $1600. They didn't update the Apple Watch, they made a completely new device for fitness junkies and Garmin geeks. Meanwhile every one else is stuck with the same tired design from well before Covid was even a word.

It's ridiculous that messages in the cloud isn't supported with watchos.

Also ridiculous that I can't download a podcast or song directly to my watch from my watch.

I agree with this. What's odd is that the Message sync (e.g., deleted on Watch when deleted elsewhere) seems to work sometimes. And this only recently. It's weird. 🤔

As for the downloads, do you mean only being able to download a single specific podcast episode or song? Because you can add a podcast (show) or a playlist and these download to the Watch.

Ya, I mean I want to be able to view and download a podcast directly from my watch. Don’t want to have to go into the watch app on my iPhone.

Right. Gotcha. Yeah.

Mixed feelings for me. First, I never remember where I should manage stuff (i.e., on the Watch or in the Watch app). Second, the Watch's small screen is quite limited for many things. For example, I feel like even the UI for managing faces on the iPhone is subpar. I'd love an app on my Mac to support this where I have more screen real-estate.

If Apple put everything in the watch (software) what people want, then for sure the next com and want a coffeemaker added 😂🤣

It would also be nice to control the hiding/visibility of apps that aren't used frequently. There's not a lot of space ob that tiny screen. They did a decent job in the first round, but as this product evolves some new thinking around its UI is warranted.
Isn't the app screen just a list that you scroll using the crown? Do you mean you want to make those icons smaller?

I think there are two different ways the app screen can be displayed. One is the list, the other is a "grid" (really a cluster of icons).

But to answer your question, no, I'm not looking for smaller icons. What I'd like is to be able to have some of the app icons removed (hidden?) so that fewer (the ones I never use) are not visible. Much like you can remove apps from the home screen on iPhone. Effectively this might enable the fewer remaining icons to be larger. But I'm not certain of that part. Regardless, there would be fewer—the ones I typically use—to deal with.
