While all four iPhone 15 models are equipped with a USB-C port, Apple continues to sell a handful of products with Lightning. In his "Power On" newsletter today, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman outlined when some of these products will move to USB-C.

First, Gurman said he expects USB-C versions of the Magic Mouse, Magic Trackpad, and Magic Keyboard to be released alongside the next iMac.

Second, he said the standard AirPods should be updated with a USB-C charging case in 2024.

Third, he said the next AirPods Max will be equipped with a USB-C port, but he did not provide a release timeframe for the over-ear headphones. He previously reported that the AirPods Max could be updated as early as next year.

Last, he said that he expects the MagSafe Battery Pack and MagSafe Duo Charger accessories to return with USB-C ports eventually.

Wow, Gurman predicts next AirPods Max, whenever they will be released will have USB-C! What a surprise!
Was there any chance that after the USB-C iPhones we will have new lighting accessories?
he said with the next imac...so we have a timeline as well, i bet you cannot predict that while Gurman it is saying not predicting so it clear have inside marketing leaks. I always love the heroes AFTER the war is over

Great, I've been waiting in order to replace my battery-powered Magic Keyboard for so long (although the typing experience is still very good), for the moment when they release a USB-C Magic Keyboard. Not only because of the port, but also because I expect Apple to update those peripherals to Bluetooth 5.3, it is about time.

why just M3 SoC...if we will get a larger imac we will get M3 Pro at least as an option
I think the larger imac it can be the only mac that can have M3/M3 pro and M3 Max in it

I suspect ONLY PRO & MAX, with it branded PRO and priced at about 2X or more the traditional "starting at" of iMac 27"

Apple has already moved the market to pay the former whole iMac 27" starting-at price for the monitor alone. Adding in an entire computer + keyboard + mouse will require an Apple premium on top of the ASD price. Make it a little bigger as some desire and add even more premium to the price. Look back to the last 27" iMac branded PRO to get a sense of probable pricing...

Flash a bit forward in time and imagine an Apple presentation comparing PRO & MAX Silicon vs. some of those (old) specs ("X times faster than the former iMac Pro"..."Y times more efficient than the former iMac Pro", "X times faster than the Radeon graphics in the former iMac Pro", etc), Thunderbolt 4 (or maybe 5) vs. that 3, and then tell yourself how modern Apple Inc. doesn't feel drawn to around THAT "starting at" if not higher.

Chop down the 32GB RAM to 8GB and the 1TB SSD to 256GB and maybe... MAYBE... Apple hits a "starting at" in the $3499-$3999 range. But then the buyer of the new pro iMac will likely want better-than-minimum specs. So "nicely equipped" quickly moves back towards that pricing.

I suspect too many who post about wanting a 27" resurrection actually want the relative bargain of the old iMac 27" price. I 100% think that ship has completely sailed. IF/when it rises again, the big fat margin Apple likes will be applied on pricing that will not undercut the big fat margins realized by the separates options.

For those who cry out about the high pricing, Apple will point them to the 24" iMac or Mac Mini.

I loathe the move to USB-C because now so many people will have half their products with lighting and USB-C. However, it’s never a good time to rip off the bandage.

Yes but those with half as USB-C already can simply use the cables & USB-C accessories with any new USB-C hardware purchased. In the meantime, while continuing to use the old Lightning stuff, they will still need Lightning cables, etc. Since they already have those too, the net burden is mostly about carrying around 2 cables instead of one until their Lightning stuff finally conks. If they are half & half already, they are already doing this.

Not sure where the loathing applies. A person with a Lightning iPhone only needs to buy new accessories when they get around to buying this new phone. If they have a Mac or iPad too, they likely already have USB-C accessories.

If they ARE iPhone only and don't want to buy new accessories, do as the 3.5mm crowd did and cling to the Lightning iPhone already in hand until the wheels fall off. It will work fine until then and all things Lightning can be persisted as long as possible.

Many previous rumours indicated the next iMac could happen this fall or perhaps next spring. I don’t think I can recall Apple ever releasing anything during the winter. So I’d say it will be this Oct/Nov. or next March/April.
So… in the 6 months or more, we might have a updated iMac. Lols

Hasn’t the EU decided, that all products must be sold with USB-C on EU territory starting 01.01.2024?
The deadline is end of 2024, and products released before this deadline are still allowed to be sold with another charging port. So Apple could in theory release AirPods Max with a lightning port in the fall of 2024, and as long as they don't update it to a new generation, they would comply with EU legislation. I'm sure they will not do that, but we might see commercialized electronics with other ports than USB-C for a while, even in the EU
