why just M3 SoC...if we will get a larger imac we will get M3 Pro at least as an option
I think the larger imac it can be the only mac that can have M3/M3 pro and M3 Max in it
You are welcome to a $5k iMac 32" 6K M3 Pro.

All I want is $2.5k iMac 30" 5.5K M3.

I am very glad I resisted buying USB-C to Lightning cables.

Oh I wish that CarPlay radios from Q4 2018-onward were required to have 27W USB-C so we'd enjoy 0-50% 30 min fast charging.

Hasn’t the EU decided, that all products must be sold with USB-C on EU territory starting 01.01.2024?
Only new products released after some cutoff date in spring 2024. This means Apple could still release new products with Lightning until March 2024 or so. ;)

One thing that will probably need to happen before 2027 is to make the batteries user-swappable, due to the new EU battery regulation. That will be interesting.

Imagine having a 5W slow charged battery always available on hand.

So… in the 6 months or more, we might have a updated iMac. Lols
Essentially within the next six months. But the iMac update is looong overdue. Many wonder why iMac didn’t get an M2 update, and around the time it should have happened we started to hear there would be no M2 update and the iMac would go straight to M3 for a significant update/refresh.

We have also heard the iMac would have a slight pedestal hinge redesign, but no word on any other design changes. Maybe different colour options?

But it looks like the iMac will be one of the first to get M3.

Not a big issue for me, but the Magic Mouse should be redesigned to have either wireless charging and/or a charging port at the front end allowing you to use the mouse (if you wish) while charging.

Gurman's daily 'Common Sense' musings.

I wonder if he stands in the kitchen in the morning and says "There's a possibility I could make breakfast. The cereal is likely in the cupboard. I think cereal will be released when I tip the box."
You might get a slightly different picture by reading the actual Bloomberg articles rather than MacRumors’ selective condensations.

Meanwhile, the MacRumors Buyer's Guide says the iMac hasn't been updated in 870 days, which has to be some kind of record. 🥲

(And I'd hoped that Apple would have said something about the iMac during the September event, but perhaps that was asking too much 😭)

It Amazes me that Apple neglected to refresh the iMac 24" to a M2.

They could have done it as late as Jan 2023 with the Mac mini.

In the market for a decent pair of over ears. Hope revised AirPods Max will be released soon. Then I can at least buy a different brand if they don’t live up to the hype.

I was going to buy a pair of these, but will wait until usb-c is added. All my other Apple products are usb-c now…and my next iphone will be too. So it makes sense to just wait. “One cable to rule them all, One cable to find them, One cable to bring them all and in the darkness bind them." 😂

It would have been nice if Apple's last device to go USB-C be the iPhone.

It would have avoid others getting buyer's remorse.

I loathe the move to USB-C because now so many people will have half their products with lighting and USB-C. However, it’s never a good time to rip off the bandage.
Agreed. Just ordered an iPhone 15 Pro, but still have a bunch of great, recent Lightning stuff I'm not about to get rid of. So, more cords for me for the foreseeable future.

your last line is spot on. it was bound to happen eventually.

I maybe have about 5 lightning accessories/devices left so it won’t be a big deal for me.

I don't expect a big Mac event in October, so maybe we will see the AirPods Max release at that point. They don't need to devote so much time on it during a presentation for headphones anyway.

But that was already the case (Macs, Apple TV remote previously). Admittedly the iPhone will impact many more people - but even then many of them likely have other USB-C devices or peripherals. So this is a big step towards resolving that situation. Will take a few years but, as you say, you have to rip the band-aid off sometime.
