And while they’re at it, how about roaming? Especially in Europe where you easily can go through 3 countries in one hour…
International Roaming is available on Apple Watch Series 5 and later, if your carrier supports it.

It only recognises a work out after 10 min and your heart rate has to be over 100.....it works as intended, you're just not aware how it works 😏
Well I was on the bike at the gym for over 20 minutes (and my heart rate for sure was over 100) before it recognized I was on the bike. I didn’t record the workout because I knew it would only capture part of my workout. Maybe they changed the logic but I seem to remember it recognizing when I was walking a lot sooner than it does now.

I just need a design change on the Apple Watch to upgrade from my Watch 4. Was almost tempted to do so when the always on screen was launched. But nothing since then has persuaded me the upgrade was worth the while. If my Watch 4 dies, I’d just go back to my regular analog. Come on Apple, time to bring the design team back to the office!

I would welcome this for sure quick glances would be more useful than current format. I have felt the app layout could be better so widgets for my main apps would be ideal.

But doesn’t what’s being described in this rumor pretty much solve your problem?

Maybe. I'm fairly undecided at the moment because I genuinely struggle to visualise how this would/will work in practice, so I'll consider once I've seen a demo.

Here is one concept. The widgets look cool but the problem is you can only have one widget activated at a time. Unless Apple decides to make the Apple Watch screen bigger which I don’t see it happening this year.

Not bad ! Might be the way the design it to look similar to the phone and maybe make it easy for the developers to port the widgets from iOS.

The fact that watchOS has gone through 8 iterations without figuring out a way for a watchface to display the status of an active timer without having to dedicate an otherwise useless complication for it is ridiculous, but this sounds like it might finally do something like that?

🤞

All I really want from watchOS is to display active timer clearly on the watch face. Not in a tiny widget.

iOS does this on the iPhone lock screen, why not watchOS on the watch face?

And now, we will have a whole new episode of cognitive dementia when, on their annual wellness exam, they are asked to draw an analog watch face with the time at 9:15 and they fail because they cannot do it. right after they are asked to read a sentence in cursive and add 2 + 2 correctly.

You mean middle left? That is RadarScope my favorite radar app as a weather nerd. Comes with complication from being on my iPhone it is paid app at several levels I use as storm spotter and all around weather freak.

I love RadarScope. I don't purchase many apps, but this one is great. I have it on my watches, phone, iPad and MacBook.

🤣 When people don't have anything of substance to complain about on the AW, they complain about the faces, on the iPhone it's the notch/dynamic island.....it's pathetic 😏
Where in my comment was I complaining about the Apple Watch? I've got no complaints about my S5.

These interface changes seem like changes for the sake of saying there were changes during a Keynote.

The best thing the Apple Watch could use, a boost to its processor so it could perform on device processing for Siri requests. The number of times I’m walking through my lab trying to start a timer and get the “I’m sorry can you repeat that“ because it lost its link to my iPhone or my internet isn’t working.

Color me skeptical :/

Hoping for the best though.

I have money on they will look incredibly cramped on the smaller watch though….

The way it’s being described, it literally just sounds like Cover Flow… But for widgets.
Or like a mini dashboard.

I doubt this comes to anything s7 and below. Will need the extra screen real estate.
You know Apple still sells an Apple Watch SE, right?
It has the screen of the series 4, was literally introduced Not even a full eight months ago…
I had the same thought but about my series 5… I assume it will be confined to series 8 and Ultra…
Seriously where is this hyperbole coming from!
Apple is not going to cut off series 4, series 5, SE first generation, series 6, series 7 and SE second generation all at the same time.
especially since the CPU has been updated… Once? In the last 5 years.
There is literally no performance advantage to any newer Apple Watch after the series 6, they all have the exact same identical cpu.
Yeah, that $800 Apple Watch Ultra? Exact same performance as the Apple Watch SE you can get for $250. No performance advantages whatsoever.
Also, they wouldn’t let the series 3 die until you literally had to reinstall the operating system every time you wanted to update it… and as a user of the series 5 that’s not an issue quite yet.

What are the odds of me getting this on my series 4? 😂🙏🏼

Ha. I was wondering the same about my s5. 🤪
I think it is pretty likely. The Series 4, 5 & 1st gen SE all share the same chip and I don't see apple discontinuing software updates for those 3 yet (and the chip is really only 1 generation behind what is currently in the Series 8 & Ultra). I suppose it is possible that this feature would be limited to Series 7 and newer (for more screen real estate), but it seems like it's just more interactive complications so I think Series 4 and up are probably up to the task.
