I'm just going to buy it now. Support the Cydia developers! Anyways, the $3 is not really a huge deal.

I think Sean has done The Right Thing choosing to give it away for free to let all owners of the Cydia version to get the AppStore version. And who wants to support him can buy the app even if it's going to be free on that night.
Who doesn't have the Cydia version should simply ignore the free night and buy it.

P.S.
Also support the AppStore developers :D
My ABContacts app can add T9 dialer and other nice features to GV Mobile+ (and GV Connect with its next upgrade).

Read via twitter Sean plans on charging a .99 cent in-app fee for push. Yeah, you guys can say it's just $4bucks all you want, but knowing that Google will at some point (hopefully soon) release a far more superior app for FREE. I don't like the idea of dropping a dime on this, especially as it is right now.

Just downloaded the app, and now I'm already confused. Why is it when I make a call on my Mac I don't need to enter any information such as a number for GV to place a call from? I thought that was what the Google Voice number was for... Now I need to put in a landline / mobile number and have to hear that ring every time I want to make a call from this app? Am I just missing something or is this right?

You are confusing Google Voice with GMail Call. What GV Mobile does is providing you an interface to Google Voice on your iPhone/iPod Touch. With Google Voice you always have to provide an actual phone number to place your call from.

With the release of GMail Call about a month ago, you can now add GMail as one of your 'actual phone number' above, so you can make/receive calls directly from GMail. Up to this point, the only way to use GMail Call is through the GMail Chat web interface from a browser. There's no mobile solution for this yet.

Not for new users. Just those that had the old app.

Not true, he said there is no way to give old users it free, that is why he is telling all of them to download it Saturday night as a window to not have to buy it again, if you dont tough....

so it will be free for anyone.

looks interesting, but I am going to wait until Google releases the software free, or includes it in the Google mobile application.

There is no point to this application (in my mind), as I can save the Google provided Web application onto my springboard as a link, and get use of Google voice through a responsive, native feeling web application for free.

Remember this app will be free tonight and tonight only so start downloading...

According to twitter, its free from 830pm-1200am est. Its my first week on twitter, and its like a huge forum!

@asr10user

It's free now?

On my iPhone it says Free in the search results but still 2.99 in the app page.

I got it, free is good! I've been using google voice from my computer for the last 3 weeks. will using your google number as one of your a list mean free incoming calls? It would seem so!:D
