Not really. They went sub $200 making the best multi-touch media player cheaper, to reach the masses. I'm going to buy my first iPod touch soon because its amazing and now more affordable.

Yes, it was a hit in the stomach when the Nanos got the camera - but they obviously need to revitalize their most successful iPod line (the Nano).

And this poll sucks. Where's the "Yes, I'm buying a new iPod touch 8GB".

I don't think the 8gb is new except for the new price and 3.1 software? correct me if im wrong..

and @Beric, I'm sorry for not being up to date with the forum. I'm not some nerd/geek or whatever camping myself in the forum for the past 8 hours to catch up on every single little teeny weeny update on the forum.　This happened to be the first thread that I came across after the 'update' sorry for being so ill-informed.
 
I'm going for the 64GB because 8GB was too small. I had < 100MB left before I sold it today (8GB 2G for $190). I don't really care about a camera, because:

1) Unless we are all cam-whores and videocam-whores, a camera wouldn't be used that often.

2) now it's more affordable, at $199 and $149 for the 8GB 2G refurbished. Adding a camera would jack up the price (not a lot but it won't be as cheap as it is today)

3) an iPod touch should be MEDIA player so adding a faster processor, more ram to get cover flow to run smoother is a good idea.

4) is a camera really important? like "if I don't have it, screw you apple" kind of way.
 
I've ordered a new 32 gig iPod touch to replace my first generation iPod touch. The spec difference between the two generations is big enough to justify it.

I live in New Zealand and I've noticed that the Apple store has the following disclaimer for the new iPod touches:
32GB and 64GB Pending for agency approval

Any one have ideas on what that means and how it affects the shipping date? I notice that the US store doesn't have this disclaimer.

The lack of a camera in the new touch's has made me realize I'm just going to buy a refurbished 2nd gen for half the price.
 
I'm gonna stick with my current Touch (2G) until it dies or somehow becomes unusable. A camera, while nice, isn't a deal-breaker for me. I'd prefer having an FM tuner and an improved speaker. Maybe they'll get around to the former eventually. I'm pleased that it'll come in 64 GB though.
 
Im a little disapointed there wasnt a mic or longer battery life. Speaking of battery life, will the faster processor equate to a shorter battery life for the 32/64 IPT's?

Personally Im going to skip on the new IPT and go with the one that has my beloved mic, 16gb's and a camera to boot.
 
Oh yeah, how could I forget about that?!? My player drinks battery power up when using wi-fi or certain apps.

Well if they sold their ipods before the event could confirm there was a camera or what ever they were expecting its their fault. They deserve to take a loss in my opinion.

Honestly its just a roll of the dice sometimes you win sometimes you lose. Couple nights ago I kinda kicked myself in the butt for not selling my IPT earlier because I have an iphone as my back-up.
 
I want a 16g iPt =.= Where has it gone?!?! =X It's no where to be found on the apple site. Don't they have any more old stocks to clear?

The new nano only takes videos. It does not take still pictures!!!

i read somewhere. it says that... the camera is too lousy for still pictures.

According to Jobs, the video sensor are nice and thin but the photo sensors are too thick to fit into the Nano.

I'd take him at his word.
 
Considering that I would be upgrading from an 80GB Classic-Yes. iPod Touch 3G 64GB will be a big step up for me. Whenever Sam's Club gets them in.
 
I already purchased the 64gb version can't wait! I am not upgrading from a previous version this will be my first iPod Touch so I guess it really dosint bother me infact I am happy they added the speed increase I would have taken a speed increase over a camera anyday
 
It's obvious Apple gave all those new features to the Nano since it's a dying breed.

The Touch & iPhone will overtake them in a matter of years..

Remember the Mini?

That was my first iPod, I loved it. & now, I love my 2G Touch. 16GB. Feel like I dodged a bullet.
 
Missing Option

This poll assumes that everyone owns some model of an iPod. I do not and will not till there is an internal Mic.
