It is about people taking time to drive cross town, pick something out, stand in line, then be told to come back another time. This was an hour and half of my time.

Not sure what they could have done to make you happy - the system was down.

I was never prompted to enter an address. Why would I be? This process is no different than swiping the card where there is no address information exchanged.

Maybe it's different for in-app purchases...

I just checked in the Target app. It is different - you have to select an address. Although I'm not sure where it's pulling mine from because it has an addy for Lowell MA for me... I went to school there but I don't have that address stored on my phone. Weird.

I was talking about when you register your card in ApplePay, not when you use ApplePay at the store or in an app for payment. ;)

Is the issue with the street abbreviation with the bank or Apple. My local credit union I have my accounts with doesn't seem to care whether my street is Drive, Dr, or Dr. So maybe this is something the banks need to resolve?

Yeah I was never prompted to enter an address for any of my cards.

Also I just checked the target app again. The address selection was for shipping only. It doesn't prompt me for that if I select in store pickup.

When you go to add a credit card in Apple Pay, did it ask you if you want to automatically add the credit card associated with your Apple ID account? Mine did and when i said yes the address was there (althought it was linked to the contact entry already in my phone too).

Yeah it automatically added my Amex that way, but I entered two other cards by snapping a pic.

My Apple Pay experience with Staples and Target apps:

- For the Staples app after pressing ApplePay button the screen would briefly flash some info and then the whole app would freeze. Had to restart phone. Tried several times with the same result.

- For the Target app after pressing ApplePay button a screen came up showing Card / Billing / Shipping information (it looked like the same screen that briefly flashed in the Staples app) with the Shipping address highlighted as needing to be changed. The shipping address it was using was automatically filled in when I added the card with the state as "OHIO". As most online purchase forms only use state abbreviations I changed the shipping address with the state as "OH", everything else was the same. App then prompted for the fingerprint and the purchase went through with no problem.

After going to settings and making a new default shipping address (with state as "OH"), I went back to the Staples app and after pressing ApplePay button the screen with Card / Billing / and Shipping information came up, I pressed the fingerprint reader, and the purchase went through.

Not sure if this problem is bank/card specific or Apple Pay specific. As reference this was with a Citi card.

This goes back to poor testing on Apple's side.
There is no way, properly tested, that this did not come up - it is a known issue when making electronic on line purchases.

Unless they (Apple) never tested this or used "perfect" test data.
