Must admit, I never do get the price discussions here, it’s important that developers make money, can make a living with their companies, otherwise the apps (and in the long run the ecosphere) dies. I do not want them to sell out to GAFA, I do not want them to quit, I do not want them to live by selling my data, I do not want advertising — so I pay, if I am happy to use the software and can afford it.
Kino advances the smooth UX design we‘re used to by Lux, you can work with the app instantly and intuitively. The only nag I have is that I haven’t found a way to manually set the autofocus point like in the standard Apple app & that it does not offer the tracking functionality of the cinematic mode of the Apple camera app (or as the Osmo Pocket does). Would love to see an option to set your own speed for autofocus shift. ND lenses on iPhone for 1/60 are mostly difficult (need a case etc), but the automatic 180° works okay-ish without. LUT-Import hopefully works / should work with 3rd-party luts (doesn’t seem that way regarding some posts here).
All in all it’s not the BM or Filmic-App but rather sits between these more professional applications and the system camera. The aim could be to offer the simplicity, fun and functionality of the Pocket3 with DJIs app in a better looking UI, make video fun (like Cinematic does) but with solid results. It’s not the worst idea, as Filmic feels like work and the baked-in Apple can does not offer enough options (good as it is). The most important things would be to optimize stabilization and AF/tracking.
