So it's been a year, wondering if OWC has abandoned this project? I can understand them being a bit shy in promising anything to do with Thunderbolt 3, especially with all the flack they got with testing delays with their first TB3 dock. My 2011 17" MBP is getting a bit long in tooth, I doubt Apple is going to change directions with their "pro" macbooks because they are too "courageous" with making their designs more form than function, but unless the DEC becomes a reality in the coming months, I may end up going with a professional windows based laptop that addresses my needs better.

OWC has (at least in my opinion) been over promising and underdelivering on their new products for the last few years. (I was waiting a long time for the Transwarp software they previewed January 2015.)

So far, they have not even announced a cancellation of the transwarp project, although I am positive it is dead as a doornail now that apple has SIP and T2 security chips in the iMac Pro.

I wonder if Apple would have taken a more active role in developing USB-C and TB3 peripherals and adapters had they known just how bad the situation would be in December 2017. There are some good USB-C docks (I have one from QacQoc that has 3 USB-A 3.0, SD, Micro SD, HDMI, Ethernet and a power-only USB-C in a tiny $75 package, but it is rare), but I’m surprised there aren’t any USB-C hubs that simply turn a single USB-C port into two fully functional ports, or more basic adapters on the market such as USB-C to mDP. It’s a great little port that should be getting more use by now.
