When are they going to learn thinner with less or the same battery life isn't a feature anyone wants?

Why don't you take that engeering talent and make a thinner bezel around the phone so they arnt giant compared to everyone else's.

I agree. iPhone 6/6s is thin enough, I really don't care about major redesign, just want them to reduce the size of these chins, bezels and add some AMOLED display. And wouldn't mind if they copy Samsung on the curved edges, but doing it perhaps better implementation, Apple style....

I don' t think the case for the 7 is up to spec. If the 7 is 1mm thinner, it would be a lot " floppier". I really don' t hope so. Because this would imply that the 7 will still have these big chins and bezel if the 7 keeps the same 4.7 inch screen size .
There is an outside option/long shot though.
We have seen some vague pictures of a suggested iPhone without a physical homebutton.
If Apple decided to increase asp/margins/revenue by pushing an upgrade cycle to even bigger, more expensive iPhones (say 7+ and 7 pro), they could:
1. Release a 4.7 inch iPhone 7 , that is thinner, an enhanced design, and a better display, camera and soc. But with the physical touchid homebutton.
2. Release a 5.2 inch iPhone 7+ with an upgraded display with smaller bezel, upgraded soc, but with the touchid and homebutton integrated in screen by 3D Touch. In almost the same physical size as the 4.7 inch iPhone (perhaps a little wider) at the same price as the current 6s+.
3. Release a 5.7/5.8 inch iPhone 7 pro, with dual cams, even higher res display, smaller bezels, touchid and homebutton in-screen, and a higher clocked or Ax type soc with more internal memory, split screen multitasking capability , in the same physical size as the current 6/s+.

Not really impressed, I would like to see some real innovation like Apple used to do. Lately it's just been subtle improvements to existing hardware. The bigger phone wasn't really an innovation because we all wanted that. I'm talking about the updates that we "didn't know we wanted" but saw it and then wanted it. The types of innovations that set Apple way ahead of the competition.

Care to share what would make you think they really innovated this time?

I mean, the iMacs have just incrementally improved since 1998 when they were introduced, which is perfectly normal. Why an iPhone should be any different? There is only so much a phone can do.

So please, again, care to tell me what would leave you open mouthed?

I love your Lincoln quote in your signature line. :)

lol thank you. I forget where I stole that from but it cracks me up to this day.

Thin doesn't make things hard to hold being too wide or tall does. I can grip a credit card much better than my iPhone 6s because its too big (but not too thin)

Ever injure your hand? Break a bone in it? Deal with arthritis? There's many reasons why some thickness provide a better grip for many, not all, people.

I don't know what you're smoking, but I would join you in recreation as a one time thing.

Also, do you mind linking me the picture of that non-home button iPhone? I haven't heard of that picture.

And ALL of those ailments would be better with a phone that is not as wide as the iPhone 6. No level of thinness is going to affect these conditions. Its too big to work properly single handedly now as it is, even with hands that work properly! My mum who is 70 and has terrible arthritis does not find thin hard to hold, she finds width hard to hold and thats the problem with the iPhone.

Hahah ok, I got you next time :D

Regarding the picture: WTH there isn't even any light on the screen lol. Not worth considering as an option really. Guaranteed possibility for the iPhone 8 though.

Not worth considering?
Rumors are heating up though.

Now this is much better. Can't tell if that first picture is simply photoshopped on the bottom (for left portion of speakers, and home button) or if it's legit, but it does show the back casing pretty clearly as well, and lines up with other leaked pics. They're definitely testing it out, but it would have been really weird for them just to take out the home button on the same design (pretty much), I feel like they would only do that so that they can shrink the bezels. Probably fake, or an alternative prototype that is just dumb and not worthy of making lol.

It could be an option for the pro...

Not really, they wouldn't make the majority of the changes of this years redesign be all pro only. If there is something as dramatic as the removal of the home button, there is going to be fundamental software differences and that will need to be present on the entire (maybe minus the 5SE) lineup.

Edit: Follow up point, in the case that you are right about that assumption, it does line up with that one rumor stating the Plus/Pro is going from a 5.5" to a 5.8" screen size. Or even the posibility of 3 tiers, 7, 7+, 7 Pro, which to me just seems weird. If they go about introducing a pro, I think it would likely just replace the + model.
