Yet, EU claims to be doing it for the environment and hasn't banned wireless charging and even goes as far as to allow portless iPhones.

So which is it, both me and EU are "faux environmentalists" or not? Can't have one without the other. Your logic flies out the window. 😂😂😂😂😂

Wait a second … the EU will allow portless phones? You sure about that?

I thought the whole point of this was to ensure every phone has a USB-C port.

Edit:

Right, I did a bit of research:

Not conclusive by any stretch, but it looks like you could be right.

The rule only applies to devices that are capable of being charged with a wire. So presumably, it won’t apply to devices that cannot be charged with a wire. 🤔

They are alright, I guess, just as iPhone 12, 13 and 14 series before them. But are they big & heavy! I get it that it might be technically more difficult to fit all the modern camera tech in a 5.4” body, but can’t Apple bring something smaller & lighter back in, anything at around 5.7-5.8” and call it iPhone Air or something. 😉

As it stands now, I can't see a single reason for upgrading from 14 PM to 15 PM. More optical zoom? I barely use that feature in real life. Titanium chassis? Meh. Rocker button over switch - I prefer the latter. So Apple should definitely put much more efforts to win me over on this one.

I think the fact he kept getting the phones confused and picking up the ring ones indicates the design design changes are the usual Apple bare minimum approach. Perhaps the real next big change they make will be a foldable phone?
Still they look the same as my 13 Pro.

The size is mostly fine (at least the regular iPhone pro). I still hold some hope that the weight will be somewhat reduced with titanium (and rounding those sharp edges would help somewhat).

But I do take your point for the supposed increase in size next year. This would kill the iPhone pro as a more or less one hand machine…really stupid move.

All four iPhones in 2023 are also expected to have the Dynamic Island instead of a notch, and that will effectively mark the end of the notch in Apple's flagship iPhone lineup.
Nice try,..the floating notch now comes to all 4 phones - great 🤦‍♂️. It amazes me how Apple Marketing have changed the narrative & convinced people to look the other way.

Looking forward to the 2024 iPhone 16 Pro pin hole!

So basically if I buy one, the only update is going to be that I'm going to have to get all new cables for everywhere I use it, lol. Awesome actually, I'll keep plugging away on the 13 Pro and save some $.

I think my wife and I are going to wait until the 15 is released then get the 13 for £599. It's seems they are just treading water innovation wise

Agreed. Titanium, if true, does nothing for functionality and most will end up covering it up with a case anyways.

Wife is only waiting for the 15 to release so the 14 gets discounted. She also prefers the mute switch. iPhone is a very polished product and it's hard for Apple to do much more with it. Apple is just making changes now for the sake of differentiation. What will be hilarious is the switch to USBc will just proliferate Lightning-to-USBc adapters so people can keep using their existing cables/chargers.

*Me laughing because I haven’t even gotten a chance to use this design yet and people are calling it old.*

I have an 11Pro. I am excited about the squared design with the DI and ultra thin bezels and titanium material and the 4 years of camera improvements, battery jumps, and satellite connectivity. Gonna be huge for me.

Anyone complaining could just, you know, wait a year and spend their money on something else this cycle.
I’m still on a regular 11 and I was thinking the same. People complaining about the design being boring and paying 1k+ for minimal changes… there’s always the option of, well, not buying it.
It’s unrealistic to expect huge changes and innovations every year.
I stopped watching certain tech YouTubers for this expectation as well.
If one doesn’t see value in something, there’s a good chance one is not the target demographic.

I for one will likely still stick with my 11. Not because USB-C or the design of the 15 don’t appeal, but because my 11 is still plenty fast and does everything I need 🤷‍♂️

Already have USB-C at the end of my MagSafe charger. I only use the Lighting port to collect dust, so I'm not sure if USB-C will be an improvement as it has a small plate in the middle. Seems that could impact dust collecting performance.

Agreed! But I think a cable failure is part of the port failure. They interconnect. ♾️
Some 3rd party Lightning cables are much more durable so the failure has nothing to do with the port type and everything to do with the low quality cables that Apple makes. I doubt Apple is going to stop cheaping-out on their included cables just because they are USB-C.

nope. billions of functional lightning cables exist in the world today. environmentally friendly would be to use them as much as possible instead of accelerating the death of it.
The best environmental solution is to use the same solution as everyone else. So we can use the same thing for multiple things without having to get or make a new thing for only this thing.

I wonder if they will change the numbering system to names etc. Otherwise in 30 years we will have the iphone 45 lol.
They should copy Samsung and have the number the year the phone comes out. One issue I see with this is the time Apple releases the phones. The phone will appear to be the previous years in just a few months time.
