The article and video didn't mention the best feature of it imo, being able to hold down on the keyboard to use it as a trackpad and move the cursor. Very useful for correcting typos easily, normally I'd delete the entire word as it was next to impossible to get the cursor after a letter in the middle of a word and now it's simple. Can see that being very time saving when writing long posts.

If they want to buy new it's okay. I am not against Iphones. But I would recommend to find a good deal with the Iphone 6/ 6 Plus

Besides 3D touch there's the A9 processor built on the 14nm scale which boosts performance and battery life (check out the Geekbench scores), 2GB RAM, better cameras in the back and front, 4K video shooting and much faster Touch ID (feels almost instantaneous compared to my 5s). All of that makes it a fools choice to go for the 6/6 plus rather than the S models.

Or do you just have to justify your new "big" "upgrade"?

Considering the aforementioned upgrades no "justifying" is necessary.

It's not apple that's clueless here. Force touch has one level of hard press as on the apple watch. 3D touch has two levels of hard press. That's why they have two different names. Guess what. Sometimes the user has to actually learn something about what he/she is using. The old sentiment about the vcr is flashing 12:00 and "I don't know how to fix it" is forever gone. Anyone with that low level of technical know how is going to have problems in today's world.
Are you under 18? There is a huge population of baby boomer w disposable income and most don't know how to fix the time in a vcr

Have you thoroughly used it? You obviously haven't. Nice try, though. It's not neccassarily fixing a problem, but setting a foundation of how we all will be using our phones in the very near future. It will allow us to use our phones in a much more efficient way. I know some people cannot wrap their minds around it, but, that doesn't mean 3D Touch will not change the game. It will.

Well, it's a good thing that Huawei bought it out first on a phone then.

Not sure where you're getting 14nm from, TMSC does not have 14nm capabilities. A9 is 16nm.

Edit: Yes, Samsung has 14nm fab capabilities but but Apple wouldn't be shipping phones with 2 very offering processors.

Who brought it first is not important. Who implements it in a useful manner is.
Apple doesn't "invent" a lot of thing but they sure know how to take existing ideas and make them elegantly workable.

Apple didn't invent the smartphone. But their iPhone created the market.

If Apple brought it out first it would be important, but if it didn't it doesn't matter, okay.

I buy Apple stuff, but for some reason I'm not like normal Apple lovers, I don't sit here drooling over every little thing Apple does or says, to me it's just a big company that overprices stuff.
But if you fans get your rocks off by idolising a 200 billion dollar company, go ahead, I love reading this stuff.

What's good about it?

Look... I can give Huawei credit for introducing a feature a week before Apple did.

But I'm gonna guess Apple will make that feature MATTER more than Huawei can ever dream of.

Twitter and dozens of other iOS apps have already been updated in the past few days to support Apple's 3D Touch technology. That's what happens when Apple controls their platform.

What are the odds that Huawei will have the same affect on Android apps?

Hardware isn't much without software... and Huawei is using someone else's software... Google's Android operating system.

And I haven't heard a peep out of Mountain View about supporting this Huawei implementation.

BTW... the iPhone 6S went on sale yesterday.

The Huawei Mate S won't be on sale until October.

But thanks for playing the "Huawei did it first" card. ;)

Well, this was quite revealing about what your real issues are. I see it has nothing to do with technology now.

unbelievably hard, and will be unbelievably hard to master..

Personally, multit-touch is way easier and is used *everywhere*.

3D Touch seems good, to some, but to me, it's a wool in sheep's clothing. But it is new...

By the time u fiugred out how to take a selfie from the home screen with 3D Touch, i could be already in the camera app taking that selfie :D

Everyone likes selfies.

3D touch is pretty cool, but I think when it will shine is when more app makers utilize it. The one short coming so far that it could be more widely adopted throughout the system's native apps as well as 3rd party apps, but I'm sure that will grow naturally over time.

It will grow.

Guys... the first iPhones to use this feature just came out yesterday.

But I'm confident every iPhone for the next decade and beyond will support this feature. Of course developers will be supporting it.

I'm amazed that there are already apps that support it... considering the phone just came out yesterday.

But that's the relationship that Apple has with its developers.

Found this in the comments of the iFixit tear down:

"Performance should be the same (same architecture and transistor count), but because of the smaller node used by Samsung, the A9 produced by them should a little cooler than the TSMC one.

Spotting which one is from TSMC or Samsung could be pretty difficult, since the temperature difference between chips could be less than 1-2 degrees."

So could be 14 or 16 depending on who made the chip.

I don't agree with iFixit's analysis. It's not as simple as just taking the same architecture, handing it to Samsung, and saying "hey make this 14nm not 16nm". Then there's the accounting issues, phones with the same SKU would have very different costs, there is NO way Samsung is selling 14nm chips to Apple at the same price as TMSC 16nm ones. Then there's an ethical (possibly legal) issue of selling a single SKU that has such varying degrees of performance.

Realistically there is no way to know until a someone tears down a bunch of iPhones and finds a TMSC and Samsung SoC then compare them.

Does the 6-Same still feel like it's going to fly out of your hands all the time?

I have a brand new 6 Plus and so I promised myself that I'd skip the S generation. Today I played with a 6S and I'll tell you, it's going to be damn hard keeping that promise. 3D Touch with haptic feedback is really a game changer. Once you've tried it, it's hard to not have it.

Got my 6s yesterday and have spent the day getting to know it. I have to say, I'm in awe. I went from a 5s to this, and, my gosh! It's such a beautiful piece of technology. One thing that keeps me coming back to Apple is that they seem to put so much care and *beauty* into their devices. I couldn't stop staring at images on the screen yesterday, as they were so vivid. The photos taken by the camera are incredible. And even the speakers are better so music played on it (without headphones) sounds better.

I noticed that its very snappy and fast, apps upgraded in seconds. I also noticed that the touch id, at least for me, is much better. My iPhone 5s sometimes had issues. So far (knock wood) the phone is opening up smooth and easy with a thumbprint.

And then there's the 3D touch. I, also, had the problem of getting the wiggling apps. It takes a little practice. But I was familiar with 3D touch from the watch, and once I got the hang of it...ohmygosh. I never want to do without it. I've no complaints. The iPhone 6s is a really stunning.

Can we get a list together of 3rd party apps that already have 3D Touch implementation? The ones I have seen are pretty minor.
