Thus, it would seem that iPad sales outsell Mac laptops.

Of course, you’ll give me articles pointing out how the iPad outsells the laptops.

I’m not even attempting to argue you over that. All I’m trying to explain to you... people depend on mature OS like Windows/macOS as their source of income.

You might not be the person that runs a business using laptops or desktops. But if push comes to shove... if people had to choose between a iPad or laptop/desktop as their sole computing. They would favor a mature OS, this is specifically due to financial reasons.

Uh, your arguments continue to crumble. The point is people ARE choosing, with their their own hard earned cash. They happen to like iPads.

All you seem to be doing now is changing the goalposts.

Hands on a dummy iPad? Comparing a real iPad to someone’s mocked up guesswork? 🤷‍♂️

Lol. I enjoy the hell out of my iPad... I’m for iPads. You are speaking to a guy who has bought iPads ever since the 2nd generation back in 2011... I’ve been a iPad user ever since. Had just about every iPad.. from iPad Mini, iPad Air to now iPad Pros. I’ve probably spent more cash than you on iPads.

You are losing sight. The iPad is awesome... but there is some limitation with it. Obviously, there is some workarounds. But laptops/desktops... there is no workarounds, that’s why “majority” would favor it.

Indeed. iPad unit sales are very good, and actually are better than Macs, contrary to what you were claiming before... until you shifted the goalposts.

Let me quote what you originally said:
Well, yeah. But majority of users ratios would be different... if you did a poll. I guarantee that laptop/desktop would have more usage compared to the iPad. And I’m the one that uses their iPad more than my iMac, but I do understand that as a whole... society will favor their laptop/desktop.
But when I gave you actual facts that say real world unit sales favour iPads, you changed the goalposts:

The truth of the matter is your original argument just doesn't hold water.

Except they don't. The majority favour buying iPads. Tim Cook said that himself, and in fact bragged about it.

Maybe there could be some truth to your belief that if households were forced into buy just one device and nothing else, there might be a preference for traditional computers, but that's not how the computing world works in 2019. Households often have multiple devices, and iPad unit sales now outnumber Mac unit sales. Furthermore, according to Tim Cook himself, iPad sales outnumber laptop unit sales from every company out there.

Like I said, 14.5 to 19 months.
I’m not going to argue anymore,

I said
Actually the months of the original Pros is 19-16 months. 512 days between the iPad Pro 2 and 3 equals 1 Year, 4 Months, 3 Weeks, 4 Days

So add up 12 months + 4 months + 25 days and it = 16 months and 25 days... round that up and you get 17 months.
You miscalculated somewhere... maybe you inadvertently mixed up a year with 10 months instead of 12.
*not making fun of you at all, I just couldn’t understand where you got 14.5.

I have the first gen 12.9, and just bought a new old stock 2nd gen 12.9 last week after researching and pondering the current 12.9’s. As a musician who often taps out beats on drum apps .. and plays instruments on the iPad I just couldn’t get past the flimsyness of the current one, plus I hand hold the thing all day and frequently accidentally hit something I don’t want because of the thin bottom bezel (portrait mode 100% of the time) With the newest ones having even thinner bezels I could see it being a problem trying to hand hold the thing and trying to whip out a solo in a tune on Geoshred, etc. with barely anything to hold onto. The lack of headphone jack is also a big bummer for obvious reasons. The more powerful processor, 6gb of ram, and 1tb drive would be a huge help to a music producer like myself .. but not at the cost of fore said issues. As far as the camera .. well I’m also a large format film photographer (8x10) so I’d welcome the camera to play around with for giggles .. but dawg on it apple make the things a little more solid. Sticking with what I have until when and if these things become a little more solid like the older ones.

I'm talking 1st gen 9.7 to 2nd gen:

9.7" Pro released March 31, 2016
10.5 Pro released June 13, 2017

That's 14.5 months.

I think one single camera is more than enough for Ipad. The most important factors are the weight, the height and the display quality.

So, you equate sales number to usage. So, due to iPads outselling laptops/desktop... therefore people would favor iPads.

That cannot be the measuring stick. It’s deeper dynamics than iPads outselling it. Both demographically and psychologically.

But I’m just going to fall back... because I gotta feeling we gonna go back and forth over this.

Will they discontinue the 2018 IPad pros? Even if they don’t, I’m curious what the price drop might be. That’s the only reason I’m interested in the 2019’s. Lol

Yes, they will discontinue the 2018 iPad Pros. Apple doesn’t do price drops but there have been ongoing sales on the iPad Pro for months now through Amazon, Best Buy, B&H, et al. In some cases, those “sale” prices have been better than buying a Certified Refurbished 2018 iPP from the Apple Store. If you want one, wait for the announcement and then watch the above for possible deeper discounts than what has been offered so far. No guarantees, though!

I can't say I'm convinced about the power bulge! On the phone it is annoying (it must niggle Jonny no end), but on an iPad it would be a right royal PITA. Put it down on a flat surface and it would rock around like a wobbly thing.

Lovely these iPads, but you always have to end up swaddling them in a naff case. I still bemoan the loss of the headphone socket! - essential for plugging in the guitar. Also we now end up travelling with all 3 ... iPhone, iPad and Mac! Some things about the modern age are just plain daft.

ugh no please just give me a FLAT iPad! or at least just make the whole iPad thicker with a bigger battery or something.. this dumb uneven BUMP drives me insane... and im still waiting on an iPad mini PRO! I hate you apple. lol

What are the thoughts, now that October is over and there's been no announcement about a new iPad Pro, about whether they'll offer one this year? Should I just go ahead and buy an old one on sale now?

Up to you, but I'm waiting.

Mind you, it hurts the wife more than it hurts me, since she wants my hand-me-down 10.5" Pro. IOW, wife aside, I can wait because I already have an existing 2017 iPad Pro.

I'm hoping for Jan/Feb 2020.

The other factor that makes the decision easier for me is that in Canada the sales on the 2018 iPad Pro universally suck. If I could get say US$200 off an 11" iPad Pro 256 GB, I'd consider it.

US$749 is a decent price, and that's the lowest it's been on Amazon.com.

BendGate is about to continue, as Apple users are too blended and will keep on buying broken designs!

I was waiting for a new iPad Pro to spend 2019 budget on, but Apple had the 2018 iPad Pro 11" 1TB refurbished for 1200 EUR.

Took the jump and bought that one.

Best purchase of the year, it holds my entire Apple Music / Match collection and 20 movies.
