Love my Max. I upgraded from the X and im really enjoying the additional screen real estate. Also, it doesn’t feel slippery, it has a nice grip.

Throw away the included charger and get one of the better Qi Wireless chargers out there. Fast and easy... you'll probably never go back to plug-in Lightning wire charging again.

What QI charger do you recommend? I was just looking at the Morphie Charger Stream pad+.

Doesn't landscape mode need to be turned on for the Plus models? It used to be that way when first introed.
Perhaps it's not turned on for the Max model out of the box? Dunno. I thought I read that it does have landscape mode.

Edit: so it's just the home screen that isn't landscape but otherwise it has landscape??? This is so confusing! I bet it's because of the bloody notch.

Edit Edit: And because no home button.

Does the XS Max have support for the home screen in landscape orientation like the Plus models

Doesn’t work for me
[doublepost=1537575036][/doublepost]I’m training myself to learn these gestures. The screen feels tall and the view is crisp and sharp.

If you're buying a new phone right now, this one is clearly the one to buy if you have the cash. The Plus phones are just superior. They're super comfortable to read text and awesome for watching videos. If you've been using any Plus version then the X will be too small. The XS is like a longer 6 and the Max is exactly a slightly wider, by a fraction of a mm, bezel less Plus.

After the 8plus and going to the X I have to disagree. I am much happier with the smaller form factor [and I dont have small hands]. It all depends what you do with your phone - yes a lot of video makes the Max the better purchase, but stating it is the one to buy is not really good advice.
I suggest people in the market look at their phone usage rather than thinking bigger is better.

I’m ok with this. Doubt I will ever need that much though.

Going with the regular iPhone XS from the iPhone X. In my situation, it was more replacing my dead iPhone X that got wet and no Applecare. Staying away from water this time.

Why this comment is getting spread around the internet is beyond me. The Max is the heaviest iPhone Apple has ever made. Nobody would say that the iPhone 8 Plus feels light- yet it actually is lighter than the Max.

Have you tried it in person? I have and I can confirm that it does feel light! It didn’t feel heavier than my X.

The screen just sucks. Colors change when even viewing the screen just a little bit off angle. Compared it to the screen of an iPhone 8, which is way better.
Yes, that's one of the drawbacks of the new OLED screen. Off-axis colours get washed out. This is not a problem with the Apple LCDs.

However, the iPhone 8 has a lower ppi, which can be noticed by some with an eye for it.

OTOH, the iPhone 8 Plus has both super wide viewing angles (since it's LCD) and high pixel density.

iPhone XS has better LTE speeds because both the iPhone XS and XS Max come with a new modem that supports 4x4 MIMO antennas for better speeds, coverage and reliability in dead zones.

Also, the new iPhone XS support QAM and LAA that help achieve faster LTE speeds. The iPhone X, in comparison, supports 2x2 MIMO resulting in poorer download speeds.

The iPhone XR did not get the same modems as the XS, so speeds are comparable to the X.

I came home to my delivered XS Max 256 this evening, and am happy about my purchase! Impressive phone, and the display is brilliant. I really like Face ID, its fast

Is anyone having an issue where you go into settings and try to search for something at the top is produce no results with the XS Max?

...and that's why i traded in a 8+. Otherwise I would have kept it. Ticks off all of the T-Mobile specs currently available.

I had a 6 Plus, 6S Plus and 7 Plus before getting the X last year. I do have to say even though the screen is 'larger' it was slimmer than my old Plus models, and as a result there was less edge to edge room to read emails and web pages and the keyboard felt cramped.

I checked out the XS Max today at a store just for fun and immediately comparing it to my X I liked the wider screen reminiscent of my Plus phones and the less cramped keyboard, but I do agree that while that big 6.5" display will be nice to read on and view on, reaching the top, especially for notifications and control center won't be as nice. As the S edition this year is one of the least impressive S year releases aside from the Max addition, I felt like staying with my X was the good move. Certainly a year from now, I will likely consider next year's Max but I'm not sure I want to go back to putting that bigger phone in my pocket.

You're saying the OLED screen sucks compared to LCD? lol.

The secure enclave is also faster but I agree. Those two changes make it faster but I didn't notice apple call it face id 2.

It is no way like "instant" unlocking like when touchID got a major upgrade. Plus, Apple would've shown it off like they did when touch ID was instant.

Yeah, It's not noticeably faster. Still a ways to go before the efficiency matches the fingerprint scanner.
