1) Audio quality is just one metric that these AirPods should be measured on.

2) Do you honestly expect the sound quality to significantly increase in such a small package?

3) I'm pretty sure the price difference from traditional wired EarPods is for several reasons other than sound quality.

But thanks for the pathetic comment.
The freedoms are much smaller and sound amazing. So yes they could of made them sound better. But non in ear has its limitations with sound quality.

So, to the people that ACTUALLY HAVE A PAIR, is it hard to invoke Siri or the play/pause option via tapping the AirPod? I keep tapping away and it doesn't seem to register anything. Very hit or miss.

Not at all. A question doesn't constitute harassment or your definition of harassment is used out of context. Again, why did you edit your response from Post #1? Have you tried the Airpods or tested them? This is a forum for discussion and I asked You a question.
This is embarrassing, how you treat people here on macrumors,I have seen your each post, carry on

I'll consider them if they get a price drop to less than $100. They took so long to come out that now I'm used to just using the lightning connecter with other headphones.

recieved my AirPods today and not impressed. Got them in my ears now and just browsing safari on my iPhone 7 plus and I noticed a faint scratchy popping noise at random times when I'm scrolling a page or bringing up the keyboard.

I can replicate this every time I bring up the keyboard

apple support said to return them for repair! Like I'm really going to get a brand new product repaired rather than replaced!

anyone else notice this?

You have to tap them quite forcefully, towards the top of the AirPod. You should also tap them in a quick double-tap, a sort of 'tap...-tap' won't work; you have to do a 'tap-tap'.

They are not for me. Still, congrats to Apple for what seems to be a solid release and a unique product that fills the needs that others may have. Cheers to that

Two months late is a solid release?

Riiiight.

Oh wow thanks! Still feels a little unnatural to have to almost punch myself in the head to use it haha

I sometimes wonder if Jony understands real world usability or simply cares about visual aesthetics.

Honestly, as someone who has had DOZENS and DOZENS of Apple products, this is THE MOST REVOLUTIONARY CHANGE in a long time.

This is like FOUR products in one. As someone who uses the phone A TON as a consultant, I had to revert to wired in the car because the Bluetooth headsets would go dead. AirPods are like TWO Bluetooth headsets for the price of one. That's two things. Now add the battery pack / storage container for 24 hours of charge. That's a THIRD item. Finally, when listening to a call or music with one AirPod and you hit a song you really like, just put in the other AirPod and voila, your FOURTH item - an instant set of wireless headphones that sound better than Apple'S regular ones and my old beats Bluetooth headphones.

All of this is WITHOUT CORDS to look silly when one is out of your ears and when you are meeting with professionals while consulting.

Seriously, the MOST transformational Apple product I've had in YEARS and I have them ALL. Do not under-estimate this. It is seriously like comparing my Palm Phone to my first iPhone in 2007. AND FOR ONLY $159. Nothing currently compares at ANY price in my opinion.

I agree. This is certainly Apple's finest release in years. It's absolutely freeing in so many ways, and very, very Apple-like. I don't mean like the arguably sad release of the new MacBook Pro. I mean this is classic, classic Apple. If you have even a passing interest in the AirPods, you're doing yourself a disservice by not picking them up.

Don't know about all of that. But I DO find it cool that one pairing will extend that attachment to all other devices under your iCloud account. With a couple of iPads, a mac, and a phone, that is cool integration. Of course that could also be problematic in some ways, like if you share headsphones or speakers that may use this technology (in the future).
Honestly, I don't think this automatic distribution of the BT pairing keys over iCloud is all that great. Pairing BT earphones manually takes, what, maybe 20 seconds? And you only do it once per device. It would be much more useful if they had found a way to switch the earphones from device to device without any manual intervention, e.g. when you start playing music on another device than the one you're currently connected to, or from the computer to the phone when there is an incoming call. That would be handy every day ...
