Do you have to download all the soundtracks to be able to hear them ? Is there a way of deleting the ones you don't like ?

Not sure what the huff and puff is about this app. It's somewhat of a me-too throwaway apps, I agree Not as intuitive as Apple S/W should be, but also probably not coded by Apple's top s/w team. More likely a project given to help Apple newbies cut their teeth before tackling more important projects.

I'd say I wish Apple would update Pages to be at least as advanced as Word 11, but let's face it -- nobody writes anymore. They just type out emojis and in that regard Apple leads the industry.

Am I missing something or can you not edit the live titles?

Given Siri's accuracy, not being able to edit is a weird decision . . . unless completely mismatched words are all part of the charm.

Why are so many comments negative?? Let apple create an app that someone other than yourself might like fro a change. For those complaining about the usefulness of the app, lets see you make an app that someone other than you might like

I love the app, being of a particular age group i'll be using the hell out of this app during spring break!

I don't mind Apple working on things of this nature, and I don't suffer under the delusion that they only have one software team or that putting some folks on this team would be to the detriment of others.

However, my issue is that this seems to be "skating to where the puck is" instead of "skating to where the puck is going," which has traditionally been one of Apple's strengths.

I have tried to open the app 5 times, but after clicking the let's begin button is goed to black, then quits to homescreen. Giving up now.

Meaning those who aren't busy reading books are somehow "different" (in the negative connotation of that word)?
You're reading that post too literally. They just mean not all 12 year olds deserve to be dismissed as part of the vapid media obsessed selfie culture. Certainly 12 year olds can have many varied interests, but the comment that this would be great for 12 year olds was not meant to be a compliment to the app or to 12 year olds. I believe it was meant to point out this is a simplistic form of video editing software.

Looks like a well done App. Not something I'll use but...

The one standout to me that is missing from Pro video editing apps is that "Hold to Add" button, where you can determine the length of the clip by holding for a certain amount of time. That is genius. Because in Pro editing Apps, we're always sort of "guessing" how long a clip should be first, then previewing it to get that "feel" to see if the length feels right. Here you can skip that and use the "feel" itself to determine the length in one step. Amazing.

I spent 15 minutes experimenting with it, and my conclusion is, that Apple should NOT have gone public with it ! ... it has the appearance of something that was cobbled-together in a Workshop by some teenager coders, over the span of just 2-3 weeks !

I could NOT find a single feature or capability that impressed me.

Its now April 2017, and Apple is coming out with this ??? ... I recommend they pull it for six months, and try again (with a much better version) when the iPhone 8 is announced.

Extremely disappointed Clips is NOT more than it is !

Live Titles is the ONLY feature that holds promise !, and the current implementation is NOT ready for prime time !!

The rest of the app is nothing special ... there are thousands of much better (photo & video) apps already on the iOS App Store !

The app defaults to Selfie Video ??? ... seriously ???, who is the target audience ??? ... I think this thing needs to be RE-named as "Mom & Dad's Selfie Social Video App" !

Snapchat has their established market segment ... Instagram has their established market segment ... NO way is Clips going to succeed in either ... it doesn't bring anything new to the table, except perhaps Live Titles, and like I said, thats NOT currently ready for Prime Time (maybe six months from now).

Way to go Phil, NOT only is Clips a poor effort at an app against powerhouses like Snap & Insta, but you've now managed to piss-off many in the Photo & Video (category) developer community ! ... is that strike number four ?, or number five ?, I've stopped counting ... and thats just since September 1st, 2016 !

Really lol? The app is cool. They've actually said it's meant to work in tandem with Snap and Insta, not be a competitor. The only "competitor" is Giphy Says, and while Giphy Says is simpler, and has a better UI, Clips has a lot more features.

Take a deep breath.

If your 12-year old child already have an iPhone, you did something wrong IMO.
Ah, yes, parenting other people about the use of electronic devices, that's the ticket.

In enough cases out there it's not reading something too literally as that is generally how it's actually meant (the post quoted above demonstrates that).

I suppose that's true in a lot of cases on these forum comments.

I have a 12 year old. She does get tired of people even jokingly attributing all kinds of vapid behavior to her age group. (But she does know better than to get offended by it. I told her there is better use of her time and emotion than getting offended by other people's offhand comments. So she shrugs it off).

So that comment above about parents doing something wrong in giving their 12 year olds iPhones...I did not feel offended by it even though I gave my 12 year old an iPhone. I'm not offended because I know I did my job well and am happy with the results. I understand LordQ's concerns and share them. I have some very strict rules and restrictions associated with the ownership and use of the iPhone.

Now getting back to Clips, it sounds like an extremely mixed bag not necessarily ready for prime time for 12 year olds or older customers. That's a shame.

What my situation is: I have started taking a lot of 4K videos on my 7Plus. Some of them have parts where the lighting conditions were not optimal and I have precious moments that were overexposed. I need to edit and correct those sections, if at all possible. I also need to edit the videos so they are decent quality to share with family members. I may in some cases need to edit and reduce quality to get files sizes more manageable for some.

I'm just trying to get started on addressing those two needs and I'm not sure any of that can be done via iOS. I'm not sure exactly where to start but I'm pretty sure Clips is not it.

With so many people taking 4K videos on IPhones, surely Apple has an app for such needs?

Someone did mention something to me on another thread so I'm going back to find that post and do some research.

Why are they wasting time and resources developing crapware like this when there are so many more important things they should be doing.

I can't get the speak while recording to add text to work. Do I misunderstand it or am I doing something wrong
Edit - got working it's not very reliable.

They can be doing both, quite likely with different sets of resources.
