Why, if the quality and durability is more or less the same? Sure there are third party options but maybe I like Apple's offering and think they should provide option for those who try to avoid butchering of animals when possible.
You just can't replicate the physical properties of real leather. One of the appeals is how it ages over time. Maybe apple can give both as an option and make everyone happy.

Like others have expressed on the forums, an Airtag in the shape of a credit card would be very welcome.
I have used Tile Slim, which is a credit card sized tracker. Unfortunately, the battery is not replaceable about more than 3 credit cards thick. Of course, that was then and technology will find ways to improve.

There are airtag magnet cases on Amazon. I’ve been waiting for a sale to try one.

I impulse bought the wallet when I heard Find My support, ordered it alongside my new 13. By the time I actually read about how it is supposed to work, it was too late to cancel. Its sitting at my house right now. As I already have the first MagSafe wallet, it will be getting returned.

I actually really like the MagSafe wallet... as a slim wallet. Most of the time it lives in my right pocket and my phone is in my left pocket. I keep my state ID and two CC in it. The only time I will attach to my phone is if I am paying at a sit down restaurant and waiting for the waiter to bring my card back. The most use I get out of the MagSafe function is that I have a metal shelf right near my front door that I stick it to when I get home.

I don't understand why this just isn't a software thing.
Ditto. I don't understand why this is a software thing either, with the exception that the NFC chip in the Wallet would be able to provide contact information. But aside from that, it would seem useful that 1st gen wallet would be "given" the feature that if the wallet detaches from the phone, the last location would be marked.

Vegan leather, please. There's so many good options for that now for shoes for example – why not also for the Apple wallet?
Hmmmm… I would rather have a wallet made from a byproduct, rather than a material bound with plastics, that are not biodegradable - leather has such a bad reputation in todays world - but no one is educated in the actual facts comparing leather to synthetic alternatives.

Solution: put an Air Tag in the wallet.

This however, would take up precious space inside the wallet and prevent fitting any cash or credit cards.

But at least you wouldn't lose it!

Certainly not a big issue if your wallet is attached to your phone. Certainly not enough reason to upgrade lol

Unfortunately these are not magsafe and don't hold. They do seem to be vinyl which the vegans on here might be happy about.
They are MagSafe compatible, which given the limited options would be good enough for me.

Related(ish): are the magnets in the 13 series any stronger than the 12 series? As I've heard no mention of such, I assume they're the same strength.
It's right there in the article: "compared to last year's version, there doesn't appear to be an improvement in magnetic strength."

I have never gotten the concept. Why would anyone want a mini wallet that can fall off of your phone? Why would you want to flash your wallet every time you take your phone out of your pocket?
Good question. I also don't get why the wallet only holds 2 to 3 cards. Why so few? If so few, don't bother.

The bs about the wallet falling off continues… that was done for youtube popularity points or whatever. You have to really try to make that happen, holding the phone in a particular unrealistic way. Just hold the phone like you normally do when using it, and when you put it in your pocket the same way you’ve probably been doing it for 14 years, there’s no way for it to pop off.

“You’re holding it wrong”, but, like, really. Who dangles their iPhone with 2 fingers by the very bottom edge when putting it in their pocket?

I can understand why people need more cards, but I am hopeful that more and more of them can be moved to the wallet app.

For me I have three cards in my physical wallet: DL, door ID badge, and one credit card (in case I need a physical one). That's not to say I don't have more things I could carry, and I have friends that use other cards often enough to justify more stuff (corporate credit card, corporate ID, alternate door badges, etc.).

I think multiple sizes would be a good idea, but so would additional pressure on organizations to support the wallet app.
