After installing an SSD on my nrMBP early 2011, I reverted back to Snow Leopard and the speed is, when considering basic interface functions like first-time using the right click context menu in a session (which is a nightmare to wait on sometimes when using newer OS iterations after heavy workload), remarkably faster, even faster than on the devices in an Apple Store running the latest hardware and software.
I still remember how they announced it, halving the install size and tweaking everything beneath it. By including Rosetta, they created a bridge to let users easily transition to thr Intel architecture, and if I‘m not mistaken it also first introduced support for 64-bit applications (even though thr mere bulk of Apple applications, even when they had less than now, had not seen a 64-bit update).
Since iOS 12 is aiming to provide a Snow Leopard-esque experience, at least in terms of performance, I wonder when or if macOS will ever be able to deliver that again, and seeing that Mojave also cuts off quite a few Mac generations, it doesn‘t seem to be pulling some strings on performance like the iOS team does. Is it too much to ask for good clean code?

So we better keep our mouthes shut regarding this issue even if there's a really simple solution to it? The ignorance of your kind is not what made Apple Apple. Switch to Android.
No,
I totally agree, they should not let it take over the entire screen, it is annoying when watching content.
They should also adress the screenfilling when you get a phonecall.

But i have a feeling apple did not show everything on wwdc, there could be a lot more features they will anounce at other press events(like the launch of new iphones and ipads)
1. Because they don’ t want to give anything away about the new products.
2. Because they got burnt last year with ios 11 , because they promised features, that made an appearance almost a year later(airplay 2, etc).

There could very well be a 12.1 update with a lot more features that apple did not mention at wwdc.
So more unexpected updates during the year, up to ios 13.

Finally you can disable screen lock durning calls . this is a great feature for those who attend long conference calls .

Wait ? no? I’ve only been asking for this since ios 3.

At least that annoying auto play when connecteing to my car stereo via bluetooth is fixed. I hated my phone automatically blasting music when I started my car .

Hmm? that isn’t fixed ? also been asking for that for years .

So , what did they fix?

I have noticed an uptick in perfomance across my iPhone X, iPad 2017, and my iPad Pro 12.9 gen 1. It’s also a much more stable beta then iOS 11 was on first release.

I thought that BT bug was addressed in an ios 11 update? Still not fixed? Mine constantly pauses if I'm trying to play my podcasts through my car BT. I've given up now and just drive around with one earphone in

I’d take a more stable and smoother operating system over any new features, and looking at the feedback it certainly looks like they’ve done it. So good job Apple.

Screen Time is really amazing. I had no idea I was spending *that* much time on using my iPhone. Being able to automatically lock out social media apps is a wonderful feature :)

Why it's called social when it's the opposite?

It’s gread that they are introducing multi Face ID. It’s painful working in operating theatres and having to type a pin constantly to unlock the iPhone X whilst at work because of the inability to unlock the phone with a mask on.

it's just a 2-3 seconds display telling you what you have just done..
maybe you got a bigger problem than that

Sorry I just wanted a design flaw to be noticed and that they can make it less intrusive like a lot of the current apps do today..you don't have to be a dick about it bud

I would be happy if iOS 12 is more of the quality update they were promising to focus on this year. I really don't want a lot of new features, and definitely no more new emoji or other superfluous crap like that, but just focus on performance and improve UX and other quality issues.

The worst thing for Apple to do for iOS 12 is flood it with a bunch of ambitious new features built on top of iOS 11 which has yet to prove itself a reliable release for quality. iOS 11 is one of the slowest iOS rollouts due to its numerous reported issues.

What I would like to start seeing is iDevices start to rival, and even surpass, their competition for battery life, which a good scrub and optimization the core OS code might allow rather then implementing a bunch of new code that will take multiple point releases to stabilize.

"... and iOS 12 will work on all iPhones and iPads that are able to run iOS 11." Is this true? I thought iOS 11 would be the end of the line for 5s and 5c.
The iPhone 5c didn't get iOS 11 as it's a 32-bit device. And during the Keynote they said that iOS 12 was available to all devices running iOS 11 as you said, that includes the 5s.

If you want innovation you get android. If you want breathtaking Animoji, you go with Apple. And since most ppl have iPhones...

Can you give me some examples of innovation released in Android over the last 2 releases? I like to keep an open eye on the competition and see what advantages there are. What were some innovative features in Android Nougat and Oreo?

And most importantly: Which smartphones can actually take advantage of the newest OS? ^^‘

Anybody with an iPhone 6 truly notice a performance increase? I jumped from 9 right to 11 and my God, my phone got so sluggish. Even with the batter supposedly supporting max performance.
