what I really like, and Apple Maps doesn't have, is Satellite view as you can see points of reference. I guess Apple would have to be out photographically documenting, which would take some time.

Not sure why Apple still tries to make Apple maps a thing... I only use it because CarPlay doesn't support google maps
Well, you're in a minority among iOS users:

http://www.betaboston.com/news/2015/12/07/apple-maps-once-a-laughingstock-now-dominates-iphones/

At least here in the US it works pretty well for me. I also like the UI of Apple Maps better than Google Maps'. It's now my primary mapping app, with Google Maps just a backup in case I can't find something (their POI database is still better than Apple's).

Apple completely disrupted Microsoft, that looked all but invincible in the 90's.

Yet, for some unfathomable reasons, people can't picture Apple besting Google in maps, arguably a much easier task.

Also, people tend to forget that Google wasn't willing to enable turn by turn directions in iOS, using the feature to steer users towards Android. Apple HAD to make that move, and it's paying off handsomely.

I hope this issue gets addressed. At least it's an issue for me.

There seems to be a pretty decent delay in visual update compared to the audio updates.

"Turn right on x street"

I turn then notice on the maps screen that it shows I'm still on the street I've turned from.l and finally shows what street I'm on a few seconds later.

I don't see this in waze or google maps and is pretty much a deal breaker and at least for me almost dangerous.

Just ok, but good they are improving it. Nothing beats Waze though.

Apple should've bought waze.

Always nice when App's are improved. Maps, interface is the least of my challenging experiences. In major cities and metropolitan areas Maps performs well. However stray just a bit out, and the experience less then optimal. Apple maps needs a big infusion of mapping data and the ability to download areas for use offline when needed. Again, always appreciate app improvements.

Because Google intentionally withheld features from iOS when Apple used Google Maps for the system app. The only reason Google Maps on iOS is full featured is because they have to compete with Apple Maps. Regardless of which app you use, competition is good, it keeps them from stagnating.

"traffic information en route" - I can't believe that Apple Maps doesn't have this. I just took a trip through several states in the US and it was a pain to keep exiting the turn-by-turn navigation just to see current traffic conditions, then resume turn-by-turn...

Uh...

Maps would be really cool.....if the GPS on my iPhone 6 actually worked. But it hasn't been able to find a location for months and the 'Geniuses' at the Apple Store can't figure out why. Their solution was for me to buy another phone. I run 4 days a week and used my phone to track my data.

I couldn't justify replacing $750 phone because the GPS only lasted 18 months, so I bought a GPS watch instead.

Nope its because people are lazy and don't want to bother looking in the App store for a better app that can't integrate with iOS due to Apples rules

Oh and my road still isn't on it even though I've lived there over 10 years

And when Google Maps was the DEFAULT mapping app on iOS, Google purposely held back navigation. While at the same time benefited from POI corrections by iOS users. So iOS users was always left with a bastardized version of Google Maps.
forcing Apple to create their own.

I have actually used both and wasn't impressed with Apple maps. Used them 2 days ago. Still not as smooth as google

So are you saying that google is better because it's slower? Because "smooth" is just another word for slower.

o_O You haven't used Google maps in 2 years, except that you have for the few times you needed street view?

Yup... Once in awhile I open it just to see what's new. But everything I need I get from Apple Maps - both in iOS and OS X. Like the map display better, too. Only regret that there isn't street view - but know that's not going to happen.
