I hope this issue gets addressed. At least it's an issue for me.

There seems to be a pretty decent delay in visual update compared to the audio updates.

"Turn right on x street"

I turn then notice on the maps screen that it shows I'm still on the street I've turned from.l and finally shows what street I'm on a few seconds later.

I don't see this in waze or google maps and is pretty much a deal breaker and at least for me almost dangerous.

Apple should've bought waze.

I was a big Waze user in the beginning but it have gotten so bad, the only thing I would it for now is police ahead notices… but I don't break the speed laws anymore, so basically Waze is useless. Glad Apple didn't buy them. They have nothing special to offer, Apple maps warns of traffic jams ahead and offer alternate routes with minutes saved. Pretty sweet.

Been fine for me... Only time I had issues was some of the rural areas or new buildings but I ran google maps at the same time and it told me to do the same thing.

I ask where the nearest hospital is and I am directed to a nursing home. I work at a hospital so I know where they all are IN MY CITY (pop. 1.2 million) but how useless is this for someone who isn't from here. In an emergency it's pretty useless. In fact, day to day it is inaccurate.

All I want to know is why Maps can't support adding multiple destinations? Why are directions always point A to point B? What if I want to create a route through several places? As I understand it, I'd have to create multiple maps for each intermediate destination like point A to point B then create a new map for point B to point C and so on. There's no way to load it all up at once. I really could have used this feature last week as I drove over 2,000km through maritime Canada and used Apple Maps the entire way. Grrrr.

Ha ha whatever. I used both and google works and has always worked incredibly better and I think you know that to be fact

Apple Maps works the same.

Sorry, the only thing holding google is street view and the search.

Totally agree with you here. Wish this feature was built into Maps. I currently use
inRoute Route Planner app on the App Store,
(https://appsto.re/us/ZyX8P.i ) with Apple Maps. It's kinda clunky 2 step process now but hopefully with iOS 10 map Apps and extensions will make this a more seemless routing navigation process.

This is nice! Now we won't have to open separate apps like OpenTable. I wonder how long before Apple and Garmin team up. I have the Garmin app (it's just like an actual Garmin GPS, but on the iPhone), but don't use it because both vehicles have GPS, but use Apple Maps once in a while. I think Apple and Garmin would kill it if they teamed up.

Still no look-ahead when you're on route?

I switched back to Apple Maps but that's one feature I really miss about Google Maps.

And Apple Maps is just as accurate.
You're joking right? Have you actually used and tested both apps frequently in real trips?

As a previous commenter wrote, the issue with Apple maps is not the UI, the features, or software - the issue is with the underlying map data.

Google Maps is light years ahead of Apple Maps because they've invested billions in sending cars all over the world every few years to get the latest, most accurate mapping & crowdsourced traffic data. They also crowdsource map updates/corrections using a very streamlined process (updates are reviewed and made by Google within 24 hours and they email you when the update is complete)

I've had Apple Maps take me to several incorrect destinations over the past few years, including the last six months. I've had to use Google Maps as a backup to get me to my real destination on several occasions. After doing this so many times I gave up on Apple Maps because I need reliable POI, mapping, and traffic data.

While I welcome these new Apple Maps features (some of which are adding features Google Maps have had for years like traffic routing), I can't fully adopt or 'fall in love' with Apple Maps until they improve their data dramatically.

I may give Apple maps one last shot in the fall, but if the data isn't as accurate as Google Maps, it'll continue to be garbage despite its delightful UI.

GPS apps are all about data. Accurate data. Good data. Up-to-date data. POI data.

For all you courageous non-dev testers out there: Don't try the DB 1 of iOS 10 for Maps. It overheats the devices as it stands now (30 % battery drained in 1h of navigation usage; 3 minutes in the front, rest in the background).

Aside that, Maps is great.

Just ok, but good they are improving it. Nothing beats Waze though.

In my experience, Waze still puts time of travel over simplicity/convenience, so will be routing you through most convoluted paths just to save a minute on a 90 minutes drive. Not a happy scenario if you want to arrive at the destination in a somewhat chilled out state. ;)

I disagree on Google Maps "accuracy & superiority" point. I live in a small French village and when asking both Apple Maps & Google Maps to get me to the same destination, Google will still happily suggest a route against the traffic on a one-way street, while Apple Maps will be spot on, somehow "knowing" the area better. However, if I wanted to wonder through local forests, I would indeed prefer Google Maps or maps.me to find a way. Different scenario, different apps.
