I'm definitely the target for this. I just can't decide on the 11" or the 13"I did. I wanted thinner, lighter and brighter for the 13 Pro and sounds like Apple nailed it. Instant purchase for me and can’t wait to get it!

Agree 100%, it's a weird obsession people have. However, a 4:3 ratio "Macbook" would be amazing... for that reason alone I would use an iPad running MacOS. Apple's never going to do it though.I still don't get why everyone wants to use an iPad as a MacBook? Like, if you want a laptop, get a Laptop. Use the iPad for iPad things. It runs a different OS for a reason.
I can get behind this. A small netbook type of thing. But yeah, I just don't get why people want to use an iPad for MacBook things. And of course, I can already see that if Apple just caved in and put MacOS on an iPad, people start to complain that it was just way to small and that it wasn't optimized very well for touch. You would never make everyone happy.Agree 100%, it's a weird obsession people have. However, a 4:3 ratio "Macbook" would be amazing... for that reason alone I would use an iPad running MacOS. Hmmm... yeah looks like it doesn't? Apple is anxious for their next "-gate" controversy I guess. I have a Bryant keyboard case for my Pro, it is aluminum and has two little rubber bumpers for when it closes. How do they protect the display from the edges of the trackpad on the new keyboard?
13” iPad, 13” MacBook Air. Screen size is the same on either device. I don’t hold my Air 8” from my face or my Air.The answer is no and stop asking. It’s a tablet with a tablet UI that is optimised for use 20cm from your face.
Is there an actual rumor like that? Would feel odd to release them today and a significant change one month later.
Wise thinking. I am on the same boat.iPad OS 18 will be the decision for upgrading or not.
I would not jump on immediate upgrade until reviews and the new OS comes up.
Otherwise it’s just another killer machine running on a joke OS.
Whatever people say, iPad could be so much more with a proper OS..
Do you think the weight difference will be noticeable from 1.42 lbs to 1.28 lbs? They are both still a lot heavier than my 2018 10.5" iPad Pro, which weighs 1.03 lbs.I care. My current ipadpro 12.9 is too heavy. I welcome the thinner and lighter design. Just ordered the new 13" ipp.
What makes you think that no one cares are thinness? Please explain your logic. Thanks.
I'd like to know how the weight and footprint compare to a 13 inch m2 air.I'd like to know the total weight of the 11" and 13" when used with their respective Magic Keyboards.
They’re adding more iPad-like touch targets to macOS, changing the settings, adding Stage Manager… I’d imagine at some point, likely towards the end of macOS, they’ll have an iPad form factor that will just run macOS (because it won’t make financial sense to continue to make macOS hardware unique… just like it doesn’t make financial sense to NOT use iPad CPU’s in Macs). There will be a touchscreen on a MacBook then, but there won’t be many that will want them. Developers making apps for other Apple products, definitely, but the iPad already outsells macOS 2:1, that trend is likely to continue.so honest question here....if Apple can make this iPad so thin with 16Gb ram and 2 TB hard drive and logic board in it....why can't we have touchscreen on a MacBook?
You wouldn’t? While a lot of music software creators have jumped into the iPad pool like Fruity Loops, Steinberg, Audio Modeling, there are those like Ableton that have only dipped their toe into this growing market. It remains to be seen if they will sit on the sidelines or will if they will, for example, take the work they’ve already done to get Ableton running on Apple Silicon and make that available for iPads.I just don't get it. My hobby is music production and I use ableton live like most electronic music producers. Why would I buy an Ipad pro or even air with an M2 or M4 chip in it, when I cant run my music software on it?

I've considered dropping back to the Air now that there's a 13" version, but the lack of Face ID kills it. I have an iPad mini with the edge-button touch ID, and it's really finnicky. The price is insane. Seeing as the new Air works with the Apple Pencil Pro, for the first time in a long time I'd consider the Air over the Pro.
I think it’s more that the iPad form factor is SO very cool, they’d also like a cool form factor rather than what Apple’s providing with their laptops.I still don't get why everyone wants to use an iPad as a MacBook? I hope the FaceID does the “read while you’re wearing a mask” thing.I've considered dropping back to the Air now that there's a 13" version, but the lack of Face ID kills it. I have an iPad mini with the edge-button touch ID, and it's really finnicky.
I have one use case for 13", and that's to use forScore for sheet music. In portrait mode, it's essentially a full-size page equivalent to printed music, and I can annotate (and change annotations) without pencil smudge. Bu having gone 13" for that, the larger iPad is a pleasure to use. Without having a compelling use case, though, 13" is a few extra dollars, though.I'm definitely the target for this. I just can't decide on the 11" or the 13"
Speak for yourself. All things being equal (durability, battery life, etc), having my portable devices as thin and light as possible is very high up on my list of wants.Thinest product ever! < no one asked for this
