OLED screens are arguably better, since they offer better viewing angles without a large backlight bleeding through them from behind. Though they do (or did) have one big downside: a short optimal display life.

If manufacturers have managed to clear that one big hurdle, I'd prefer an OLED screen to an IGZO display.
Arguably? No matter how much we love to think retina is the bees knees , it's just a Lcd IPS panel, washed out blacks, low res, low contrast.. Sammys amoled displays are out of this World, the quicker timmy gets on board. The better..

...or unlimited.

Yup. It's like the way people think 'unlimited' minutes are free minutes...
[doublepost=1458599265][/doublepost]My iPadPro is my workhorse. Use it all the time for work, school, and hobbies. Glad there are more options. Might pick up the smaller iPadPro for my language work/study.
Love my rMBP too for when I'm forced to use MS Office.... :)

Anyone else sick of having the useless iPad shoved down our throat? Where are the new laptops? People are on 2 or 3 year old ones now.

Thanks for the advice guys, it looks like the 16GB is for me. If I run out of space for pictures I don't mind paying 1$ a month for icloud. I could be like that for 7 years and expend less money than the 64GB for the same amount of storage.

I was asking for advice... and people here was very helpfull.

But I have to say that eight of this "!" seems a lot to me. Do you actually care, don't you? xD
Come on buddy, you are asking strangers on the Web for advice that has no baring on us at all.. how about you make tour own mind up.. smiley face kiss.kiss ..

I would strongly recommend spending the extra $100 to get 4x the storage. This way you have room for music (Apple, Spotify Offline, etc), videos, photos, etc without likely ever worrying about running out of space.

In my experience, most people I know with 16gb phones tend to run out of space from casual use after a year and a half and then complain they can't run a software update or say the phone gets slow. Obviously it will run like crap if there is no swap space left on the storage.

Just do yourself the favor of spending $100 extra and get the 64gb version. I'd literally take a 32gb (or larger) 5s before I'd take a 16gb SE/6/6s.

Tim, is that you?

Anyone find it stupid how Apple makes a great looking SE device w/ no protruding camera, yet the 6S/6S Plus have a protruding camera?

Jony didn't design the SE, it's too thick.

lol this is not "the internet" or "facebook" dude, this is a Mac based forum webpage where are iPhone users, indeed I was succesfully helped so your argument is completely invalid my darling. Keep going with the hating lol

I really wish they could decide on a color scheme. The blues and greens and yellows and reds keep switching and changing (for the better, in most cases, but still), and the 'Space Grey' of the phones still doesn't match the 'Space Grey' of the watch. It's like when you buy the first edition of something in a series, like a dvd or book, and when the first edition of the sequel comes out, the cover art doesn't match at all.

Following today's Apple event that saw the 4-inch iPhone SE, 9.7-inch iPad Pro, and new Apple Watch bands and pricing announced, members of the press have been invited for hands-on time with the new products.

The new iPhone SE looks almost identical to the iPhone 5s, beyond the switch to matte-chamfered edges and a color-matched stainless steel Apple logo on the rear.

The new 4-inch smartphone retains a 3.5mm headphone jack, despite rumors that Apple will switch to an all-in-one Lightning connector on the iPhone 7 due later this year.

iPhone SE is available in the same four colors offered across most of Apple's newer product lineups: Gold, Silver, Space Gray, and Rose Gold.

16GB and 64GB models can be purchased for $399 and $499 respectively. The 16GB model is also free when subsidized with a two-year carrier contract. Financing plans are available from $17 per month.

The new iPad Pro also looks virtually identical to its larger 12.9-inch sibling, with the only noticeable difference being the tablet's smaller 9.7-inch screen akin to iPad Air.

The smaller iPad Pro has adopted many of the same pro-level features, including an Oxide TFT display, Smart Connector, Apple Pencil and Smart Keyboard support, and the same positioning of other ports and buttons.

The new 9.7-inch iPad Pro comes in four colors: Silver, Gold, Space Gray and Rose Gold. Pricing starts at $599 for 32GB of storage with Wi-Fi only, while 128GB and a new 256GB option will be available for $749 and $899 respectively. Pre-orders begin March 24 and shipments to customers will start March 31.

Great phone for kids and people with small hands, not for me. I'll never go back to using a phone with a display smaller than 5 inches.

Anyone else sick of having the useless iPad shoved down our throat? Where are the new laptops? People are on 2 or 3 year old ones now.
My several year old MBP is running just fine. On the other hand, I absolutely LOVE that they've put the iPad Pro bits into the original size. I use my iPad a lot, and will be extremely with these updates. So, not useless, not shoved. If it's being shoved down your throat, maybe you should close your mouth?

I heard Sprint went back to offering contracts just two months after they got rid of them. I'm sure there are other carriers who will still offer them if you want.

But here's the deal... it's only "free" at the time of purchase... meaning you don't have to pay anything up-front.

However... YOU will definitely be paying the $399 over the next 24 months. It isn't a gift from the carriers.

Subsidized contracts are just another type of payment plan. Instead of paying for the phone in full... you pay little or no money down... and the rest is built into your monthly bill.

No "free" phone is ever really "free"

Free isn't free?
You clearly understood what I meant since you're aware of the changes with Sprint (thanks for that info!).

Gary

I just don't understand why make a 9.7 "PRO" iPad...

The old lineup made sense and people knew what it meant...

Mini = Small
Air = Light
Pro = Big

Now they have a Mini, Air, Pro and Pro!
The only thing pro it has its that it can use the pencil no? By the next few years probably the next gen we might stop seeing the air and pro as 2 different ones and only one will prevail as the apple 9.5 tablet. Something similar is happening w the new MacBook and the MacBook Air. So any move they do for those will follow suit on this new air vs pro category for the iPad.

Of course I understood you.

You asked which carriers in the US offer free phones.

Then I explained why they aren't free.

:)

For some reason, the 9.7 iPad Pro, depsite USB 2.0, looks "better" with pencil than the 12.9 where its large screen. More easy to carry. I'm eager for iFixit tear-down, but i know the repair-ability score... They don't need to tell me.

I wouldn't be so quick to jump on the bandwagon. Samsung OLED on their phones are way too contrasty. Also, it's kind of interesting that OLED is billed as more energy efficient but samsung doens't really beat apple in the battery life game.

I like OLED for deeper blacks, hope they fix the contrast problem. They already fixed the screen life problem.

It really surprises me that Apple continues to do things to alienate, needlessly, those who would be its best customers. I know they want this to be a low end phone, but there's still no reason to exclude the 128 GB option for those to whom this would be the perfect high end phone. Charge more for it, make it worth your while to cannibalize a 6S, and sell it. Surely there are enough people with small hands or pockets who also want a high capacity phone to make it worth their while!

Samsung uses higher resolution displays on their phones and still equal or better apples in terms of battery life in their current models. Critics and display experts rate samsung mobile displays as number 1 in the industry....nothing else compares.

Glad they made the chamfered edges matte-finished. Should make the edges more scratch resistant.

This iPhone is clearly targeted to the buyer who can't afford an iPhone from the 6 / 7 series. By providing an option without calling it cheap, is more proof of Apples ability to monetize anything with an Apple logo.
