I love the idea of foldable phones and can imagine quite a bit of utility they could add. The pic showing someone taking notes on the unfolded device shows just how cool this could be.

Why? they're a gimmick. They offer NO true utility. None. Even if it were done "right". They are not the future of anything, except spam articles about flop products.
No utility? You mean you’ve never wanted to have a larger screen while consuming media?
I have a tablet and a phone. When I’m at home I prefer to use the tablet for watching videos or surfing the web. The only reason I don’t use it is due to inconvenience as usually my tablet is in one place and instead of grabbing it I just use my phone. This is the best of both worlds. You have something that’s always with you that can still become a tablet.

Trying to imagine who's stupid enough to actually pay msrp.. No interest in this but retailers are offering this for 899 basically as it's been all over the slickdeals sites.
Of course. It's a Samsung phone. they are always having to practically give them away to make the devices look like a success.

The article states “Design wise, the Z Fold 3 is Samsung's best foldable device yet because the camera is under the display for an all-display design. It looks great and while it's not entirely hidden, it maximizes available screen space.”

But all of the apps appear to stop well short of the top of the screen, so what’s the difference versus a notch?

Also, maybe it’s in the video, but would have been curious to see how thick it is now.

You do know this is a Mac centric site right?
Why the *** is this on an APPLE/MAC RUMORS WEBSITE?

I wish these guys would please split up MACrumors.com and APPLErumors.com to contain only content relevant to the domain. I want to know about Macintosh computers, not toy phones.

A fanboy echo chamber you mean? So people cannot have varying opinions or appreciate other tech too?

If it hurts so you dearly there are other threads to read too.

FYI at the bottom of the main website page:

"MacRumors attracts a broad audience of both consumers and professionals interested in the latest technologies and products. We also boast an active community focused on purchasing decisions and technical aspects of the iPhone, iPod, iPad, and Mac platforms."

There's plenty of criticism of apple on these forums.

And? The dang site did a review. People are free to discuss the device without ignorant comments "buh why we talking bout dis here!"

CLEARLY BECAUSE THE SITE DID A REVIEW OF IT!

If you don't like it email the site who did the review.
Wow, someone is angry. It's just a phone.

lol I don’t see this ever taking off.

An $1800 Nintendo 3DS for an “extra” 1.4 in. display

The Z Fold 3 is best demoed in video, so make sure to watch our video up above to see it in action.
I will when I can, but thanks for the text review-- I've got a good sense of what this is.

I suspect I'd find the flip form factor more appealing than the fold. The unfolded form factor just doesn't get big enough to be a useful tablet for me. The flip though would be step toward making these stupid big phones smaller.

And thicker. That's the part I'd have to check in person...

To be fair most Apple fans don't know their head from their rectum. The iPhone 12 is fundamentally the same phone as the iPhone X from 2017 with a bit beefed up processor and RAM. The display hasn't changed, the notch hasn't changed, the basic shape hasn't changed. Most of it hasn't changed.

Apple users are not who I would say are at the forefront of technology.
So what? My point is that Apple and their fans care about the experience, not being at the forefront of technology. That's for beta testers.

Ok give it up bud. Done replying to a 🤡

Will this review convince members of this site to trade in their iPhone and switch to Android and spend $1800? What % of posts would you say is Apple/Mac related on this site? 99%?

Whenever I see the word “fanboy/fanboi being used I assume the poster is still in high school.
What I don't get is why someone would make an account on this site and try to convince members here to switch to android. It's very weird.

Maybe, maybe not. For me, it's useful to see what else is going on so I can make informed decisions. Will I switch to Android? Dunno. If iPhones keep getting bigger, and someone can make a small Android flip that works for me, then maybe.

More importantly though, it helps me get a sense of where the industry is going and where Apple may go within it. I'm not buying a phone today.

I don't have time to go browsing a dozen sites each catering to some narrow audience. MR does a reasonably good job of giving enough Apple news with some Apple-adjacent news without too much clutter. A few too many articles about Nanoleaf, maybe, but whatever...
