Samsung undoubtedly makes great products hardware-wise and also their design is getting better, but I still wouldn't buy anything from South Korea (no tv, no car, no dishwasher, no watch, no phone, no nothing) ..... and the name alone: "SAMSUNG" = is a turn-off too!
So, in other words, not for me, thanks, but of course I have no problem at all with others (also family/friends) buying SAMSUNG gear.
I don’t really care what country my tech comes from. I just buy whatever one I think is the best.

Why should anyone's else's opinions about your pescious device upset you? Sounds like you are a tad insecure about how good it actually is.. never mind fella, there will be a better more expensive one out soon. And you can get upset over that one as well..

Who said I’m upset?

Why don’t you try actually reading other people’s posts instead of trying to insult people who wrote them.... fella.

I agree, but you are not hearing any of that from me. Besides it's no worse than the Samsung haters bashing a phone no one here has even seen yet just because you don't like a stylus or whatever.
[doublepost=1534049810][/doublepost]

Bashing another product without even seeing it or touching it, talking negatively about a brand because you tried one once five years ago and didn't like it, and calling a product superior for no other reason than you happen to own that brand... to me these are exercises in brand loyalty.
Can you cite some examples in this thread? Because from what I’ve seen on MR this so called “bashing” are just opinions and go both ways.

Forgot about HTC. The rest are budget prices and some aren’t sold in the US. Have to wonder why they don’t knock Samsung down a notch for 90% of the features and hardware for 50% of the price.

Budget prices? A high end phone with a budget price is called a good deal.

One thing that keeps me away from these Samsung models (besides their base software / launcher) is the poor placement of their fingerprint sensors. A little better than previous / other Samsung models but still looks quite easy to grease up that camera when trying to unlock the phone.

Only if the only thing that matters is the specs of the phone.

The point is that there are a lot of other high end phones available other than the Note 9. Saying that price is a requirement for being high end makes zero sense.

Does anyone know if the Gear S3 or this new Galaxy Watch can detect abnormal heart rates/heart problems like the Apple Watch?

As is saying that specs alone make a high-end phone.

Not just phones, it applies to other devices such as Laptop etc...unless people are ready to get stuck in an expensive ecosystem that makes you spend a fortune on one after the other (Watch, Laptop, Mobile, Speaker, Headphones, Music) people will eventually find a way out of such a closed circuit.

Microsoft dominated the PC space with the help of OEMs (and Intel Processors)with spec war using OEMs. Even Apple had to accept this game eventually to be more acceptable across the board.

I can’t speak for anyone but myself, but to use an analogy in the car world, I don’t start the buying process from the car has to go 60 in x seconds and stop from 60 in y feet and be able to perform an emergency maneuver at z miles per hour. If people do more power to them.

However, you did mention getting “stuck” in an ecosystem. Based on apple’s last quarter and current valuation, it seems at least the consumers that have bought into Apple don’t share your concerns.

Everyone I know that has a Rolex, only looks at it to check the time as well.
Generally when one buys a state of the art product, it does one or two or three things really really well - nearly perfectly even if taken care of, properly and with careful attention minded to the product. Ownership is a process few respect these days I find... I say this and I own two diving watches: a Mickey Sorceror's Apprentice Epcot boutique circa the aughts 750 meters 17k gold co brand (Seiko???) and also a Rolex Submariner with the two tone Gold / Steel Oyster steel bracelet.

Every single Samsung product is a pathetic copy of the corresponding Apple device. It’s not premium, it’s knockoff of premium.
Didn't realise Apple made ships, construction equipment, tv's, fridges, missiles!! Who knew...
Plus. Wernt they on their 6th version of their smart watch range before the first Apple watch was released.. let's not let facts get in the way of a good story shall we...

Funny reply! You know what I meant, namely that every Samsung to copy Apple in its computing products, especially in smartphones. Actually, Samsung rushed the first Galaxy Gear Watch to market just before the Apple Watch was announced. It didn’t have the benefit of using Apple as a design reference and it sucked. Samsung smartwatches have failed completely in the market precisely because with their smartwatched, Samsung has tried to deviate from the ‘slavishly copy Apple’ playbook. Don’t get me wrong, Samsung smartwatches are still a copycat product in terms of features and functionality, but they are not enough of a copy of the Apple Watch to actually be compelling to anyone.

Of course. Everything in the tech world is copied from apple.

I'm pretty sure every company bar none has copied a lot from every other company.. there's just one who has basically invented nothing who has this seemingly magic ability to convince the uneducated masses that not only did it invent everything but every other company does nothing all day but copy them.. I have nothing but respect for the firm involved, to pull off such a feat. But also nothing but contempt for the uneducated masses who spout rubbish all day about said company..

The people who like Samsung think you’re referring to Apple, while the people who like Apple think you’re referring to Samsung.:D

In truth neither company invented any of the technologies that are in their products.
