Phone size is evolving but funnily enough, not our hands. Can we stop making phone so damn big that we need 2 hands to navigate and require custom made jeans to pocket them?
Well, the market has voted and users seem to prefer larger screens by and large.Phone size is evolving but funnily enough, not our hands. Can we stop making phone so damn big that we need 2 hands to navigate and require custom made jeans to pocket them?
Why was the $1000 price tag a big deal for the X but nobody's saying a thing about it now with the Note 9?...
By you mean copy the galaxy note, you are really referring to removing faceid, putting a subpar soc in the phone and removing 3 years of support? That's because it's much more than a basic iPhone X. Take an equivalent although not as capable $999 iPad Pro + $99 Pencil and the cost of miniaturization to shrink it down to fit in the pocket. Apple will probably charge $1500 when they eventually copy the Galaxy Note.

AgreedThe Note Stylus can’t really compare to Apple Pencil in terms of activation pressure, angle detection and latency and it, most likely, does not cost $99.
But if you do want to go over value for money, you have to take in software support into account too, which all of you keep forgetting.
As for the rest, there is nothing basic about iPhone X. Can we stop with this ridiculous bashing of a great phone? You can like the Note 9 without claiming iPhone is mid-range, basic, whatever else it’s been called on this forum.
Well they need to sell their devices for what they are worth on terms of components and make some kind of product.
What’s the point in making a premium phone and then selling it at a loss.
There are tons of options in android but some people want a high end device. Perhaps not as many as want high end Apple devices but it doesn’t mean just because you are using android you can only have a budget phone. Look we even have designer watches making smart watches running wear OS.
Other than Samsung, huawei Porsche and pixel, what are the other “high-end” phones? Are they high-end due to price or specs?Things are worth what the market demands.
Samsung and Apple has some of the highest profit margins on smartphones. Close to 40%.
There are like 10+ high end Android phones. There's only 1 iPhone X. The iPhone X will be able to command a higher price. This is basic economics. Expect a $200 price drop on the Note 9 within the same year.

Forgot about HTC. The rest are budget prices and some aren’t sold in the US. Have to wonder why they don’t knock Samsung down a notch for 90% of the features and hardware for 50% of the price.
If we stick our heads in the sand to defend brand loyalty, imagine how much we may miss?
Unlike on the iPhone where the camera protrudes like a monstrous carbuncle.
What you are commenting on is also known as hyperbole, the bolded.I think you’re missing the point: no one is saying not to try out the Note if you like it, or that it’s a bad device. Ultimately, people should choose what they like more, and there is plenty to like on all flagship phones, for sure.
However, coming here to “explain” how iPhone X is a mid-tier phone, how Samsung’s Iris scanner beats Face ID in terms of security, how Note has no flaws while iPhone is full of them, etc. - that will incite a certain type of comment as a response.
What brand loyalty? People like Apple for a number of reasons, people like Samsung and android for a number of reasons. One can appreciate the introduction of technology without opening their wallets if they don’t want to.I am going to reserve judgement until I actually have one of these devices in my hands and can play with it. I will compare it to my current set up (iPhone 8 plus and Garmin Fenix 3HR) and go from there.
I am amazed at how many are passing judgement before these items even arrive in stores.
I say keep an open mind and don't be afraid of what's on the other side of the fence. Technology has come so far in just a short time. Imagine what it's going to be like 10 years from now. If we stick our heads in the sand to defend brand loyalty, imagine how much we may miss?
Exactly. Looking forward to picking up my Apple note phone in September.Every single Samsung product is a pathetic copy of the corresponding Apple device. It’s not premium, it’s knockoff of premium.
You mean the same way the poster before you bashed the Note??The Note Stylus can’t really compare to Apple Pencil in terms of activation pressure, angle detection and latency and it, most likely, does not cost $99.

I doubt it.
If anything, I see Apple doing the opposite. The magic number here seems to be 1 day battery life (18 hours actually, minus the time you sleep), and most users are typically getting close to 36 hours (which allows me to wear my watch for two days without charging).
This means the watch actually has extra juice to burn, and moving forward, I see Apple introducing more features to make use of this surplus battery life.
Most users will charge their watch overnight while they sleep. In this context, excess battery life isn’t a feature which would make a noticeable difference in their daily usage. So I don’t see Apple increasing battery life in this regard.

Most people are in a position where they can reliably charge their phones overnight as they sleep. As such, while I would never say no to more battery life, it's irrelevant to me whether my phone is at 20% or 60% at the end of the day. It's getting charged right up to 100% anyways.Once upon a time we had phones lasting for days, all of a sudden the “smartphone” came and lasted for a day max and nobody seemed to be concerned.
I think a major innovation is battery and that we need devices lasting for days without a charge, ie laptops, phones, watches, etc.
Why should anyone's else's opinions about your pescious device upset you? Sounds like you are a tad insecure about how good it actually is.. never mind fella, there will be a better more expensive one out soon. And you can get upset over that one as well..The Note Stylus can’t really compare to Apple Pencil in terms of activation pressure, angle detection and latency and it, most likely, does not cost $99.

They seem to want bigger phones though as they are selling like gang busters.Once upon a time we had phones lasting for days, all of a sudden the “smartphone” came and lasted for a day max and nobody seemed to be concerned.

Guess Steve was right after all from the start regarding phone size... I honestly believe that we are now approaching tablet territory with these sizes... and I wonder, just put phone functions in mini tablets-mini iPads and stop messing with the smartphones. Does the majority of people really need more than 6” phones? I highly doubt...
