Beautiful phone, I think it’s the best hardware out on the android market.

I’m glad to hear since the S9, slowdowns are not an issue.

Every two years I’m tempted to switch, but not getting updates to the OS on Samsung phones is a dealbreaker for me.

Thanks to MacRumors for showing us this phone.

One of the major points for me is the storage/ram you get for the price, the base model gets you 6gb of ram and 128gb of storage. For a thousand dollars that's pretty good compared to my iPhone 10. The 512gb option combined with the 8gb of ram is a nice option to have I must say. Depending how things goes with Apple new iPhone I maybe going back to android, hard choice given I have a Apple Watch, Air pods, and a MacBook Pro 13. That would would pretty much make two devices useless.

RAM? Seriously? Facepalm

theres not style or personality in these products. while I dont mind a round tech watch, they did put an OK GUI to it, but at the same time not optimal. They seem like knock off devices that Samsung slapped their logo on.

Look into the Pixel if you're thinking about switching. I switched to one myself in April after having an iPhone since the 4. Absolutely love this phone. Stock Android is great.

That is seriously subjective terriory. To me, Samsung watches look like they are trying to imitate mechanical watches and, honestly, just don’t look nice.

Apple Watch has its own, unique design language that I prefer.

You have every right to like Samsung watches more, but to that is just, like, your opinion, man.
The rose gold one looks nice to me as a female but overall I do prefer the Apple Watch. However if I were a man then I’d probably prefer the design of the galaxy watch as it looks very masculine.

Then I must be a feminine guy, because I prefer the look of an Apple Watch.

Joking aside, I disagree. Let’s leave it at that.

My bad then. Still, it’s less secure and less advanced than Face ID.
I don’t know which one is more secure but I tired the iris scanning and it just didn’t work for me. Face ID does work for me.

They’ve combined Iris scanning with facial recognition in the S9 plus and the note 9, it’s called intelligent scan and it works a lot better.

Look, I’m no security expert, but from those that are, I read quite a bit about it. The 3D mapping tech Face ID uses is not new, and it’s more secure than any “2D” method. The only thing that is new about Face ID is shrinking it to fit a phone. Samsung could opt to do it, but it’s expensive and requires a stronger CPU than the one Samsung uses (especially in US).

Again. Opinion.

Not really, no. It’s science.

Hah. Wrong on both accounts, it would seem. But, hey, believe what you wish. Some people believe in astrology and homeopathy, too. Can’t do anything about it.

I don't see any reason why I'm wrong. There was only one vulnerability with Samsung's iris scanned when they launched the S8 but that vulnerability has been fixed ages ago so right until somebody manages to get past S9, Note 9's Iris scanner it is the most secure way of biometric authentication by far.

Have you even used note 8? Let alone 9, since it hasn’t been out yet.

A 2D scan is just not as secure as a 3D mapping tech Face ID uses. However, it requires a more powerful and energy efficient CPU and is more expensive.

In a generation or two, when Samsung switches to 3D facial mapping, I guess you’ll accept it.

Samsung new home speaker can be use as bbq pit too

I clearly wrote: Iris scanner, why are you talking about 2D scan?

Absolutely premium and gorgeous devices. If there's ever a device that can command a premium price, it's the Note 9. Without question. Wow.
And Samsung still has the best watch and OS for watch. That's how a watch should look. Not some dinky little square kids toy. Battery for days and days.

You forgot to add "imo".

A 2D scan of the Iris, yes. It, basically, uses the selfie camera to take a 2D snapshot of your irises. This can be tricked more easily than a full 3D facial map.

I’m not saying it’s not secure enough. Personally, I would use it and not worry about it. But it’s not better than Face ID, sorry.

As I said, this is common knowledge and not some unicorn magic, It is very likely Samsung will switch to 3D mapping at one point, but not this year - probably due to cost and performance requirements.

Samsung Iris scanned is the most secure biometric authentication method. Unlike the facial scanning it has no weaknesses.

Ahahaha!

It was cracked HARD in the first days it came out by Chaos Computer Club in Germany, with everything WELL DOCUMENTED.

Seriously, it can be broken with an old camera, a B&W printer and contact lenses...

... and it doesn't work with dark sunglasses, etc.

Even Samsung passively admits it when it doesn't allow it to secure Samsung Pay and requires their "S-TouchID"
