Ah, inspired by Cybertruck... that explains it.
I imagine they're sharing some if not all the parts with the actual wireless phone chargers built into the cars.

So this is just an easy way to make some extra profit from the parts that you're ordering millions of anyways.

Aha aha, it just occurred to me to buy some used windshield wipers to clean my windows! I mean, why not, right? ;)

Why is this multi charger thing such a big deal? It's large, inefficient, and solves a minor inconvenience at a high price. You could just get three cheap QI chargers from anywhere and put them next to each other to get the same effect. I refuse to believe that people are so incredibly lazy that they can't even put each device on a separate round piece of plastic.

Also with all the talk about saving energy, a charging technology that's only 60-70% efficient should not have made it past testing. Things should be getting more efficient, not less.

Friendly reminder Cook turned down an offer from Musk to purchase Tesla.

There could have been an Apple Car.

Now there never will be.
Friendly reminder that Musk overpaid for Twitter and tried to get out of it after realizing he made an impulse purchase. No sensible business person should do business with Musk.

Musk's companies innovate, invent and drive new tech forward, for LESS cost than before. Cook buys or co-ops other company's and people's ideas, innovates nothing, and charges MORE money than it previously cost. Let's see TC come up with a reusable rocket ship 🤣

I expect AirPower was going to be $199-$249, so this doesn't seem that off the mark.
On the one hand, yes, Apple has a history of "premium" pricing (to put it mildly). On the other hand, they usually try to justify that by adding unique features to their offerings that are supposed to make them more attractive than the competition (although whether one believes that those are worth the premium is another matter).

This, by comparison, seems to be mostly repackaged third-party technology, with very little to differentiate it from other multi-device Qi chargers apart from the Tesla branding and the inflated price.

Cook isn't best buddies with a (former) NASA administrator who can steer contracts to him (Google "SpaceX Griffin" some time).

That may be, but I'm trying to imagine Apple designing a rocket ship, and it has to be 1/4 the cost of previous rocket ships, and the software must be flawless...o_O

Sorry but giving money to Elon is against my religion.
You're giving it to the company. Thus far, the company doesn't pay dividends and doesn't pay Elon a salary, so none of your money actually goes to him.

I keep arguing that the company should pay dividends. In part so that Elon benefits from holding his shares and doesn't have to sell them to finance stupid stuff he does like buy Twitter.
