So in order to change the volume I have to use my device (or use hey Siri - which let’s face it no one is going to do). And to pause or skip tracks I have to squeeze the now shorter stem, at times repeatedly, potentially dislodging the Airpod from the ear and breaking the seal, which will almost certainly happen when walking around and trying to skip to the next track. Or once again use the device to skip tracks which all in all defeats the notion that these tasks are done remotely.
My wired B&W in ears have none of the above issues and sound great. I can change the volume, up or down, skip, replay and pause, and never need to touch the earpiece or reach for my device. I don’t know if the AirPod pro sound better (I highly doubt it) but even if they did it appears it’s a significant downgrade in terms of usability. I constantly fiddle with the volume when listening to music (sometimes I just have to crank up the Neal Schon guitar solo), change tracks, repeat tracks and Apple isn’t giving me a good reason to buy these and switch from my B&Ws.
