If only the power button on the remote could be programmed to turn my sound bar on/off via infrared, I’d have an excuse to upgrade my old HD Apple TV.
It’s turns of any device with HDMI-CEC support. Sure there isn’t a setting for that on the soundbar if it’s connected using HDMI? It’s probably enabled in the AppleTV Settings already, but check Settings - Remotes and Devices - Control TVs ans Receivers

I bought it just to buy it.
I have a 32GB Apple HD I'm not using and the previous model 4k 64GB.
Need to either gist them to family or sell them.

LMAO at all the complainers whining about no USBC cable. Just yesterday they were saying that apple should switch to USBC because they already had plenty of cables. Now, some people aren't happy with using one of the many USBC cables they already have? Weird
Guess someone might not have one, but first how much power does it come with. And even if it does die, it not like a phone where there's at least an argument that you couldn't call for help.

Apple needs to stop using crap delivery companies. My Apple TV that I ordered on Apple.com day 1 was supposed to be delivered today by 8pm. Their “Deliver It” tracking website has no update…
Yea be like Amazon and do your own.

Hmm, a lot of you are confused about the cable situation.

Our apple products in the past DID NOT come with a usb-c cable. NONE OF us just have this cable from our old apple products.

This should have came with a cable - and the people who are like “you were just saying you had so many,” are wrong.
Yea if you never got a Macbook or certain iPads and never did Android, you wouldn't have one. I have cables galore, but I know some don't

The Apple Music app runs much better on this Apple TV, even compared to the previous model with the A12. I don’t know if its the processor, or simply changes on the software side, but that is a welcome improvement to me.

New remote is also better imho - while I find the usb c hole awfully big, the tactile feeling of buttons and trackpad has changed and feels less mushy than 2021 version.

as usual everything feels more responsive and quicker, need to spend more time with it but it’s still a welcome update

Like what? For one, you are in Apple ecosystem, Apple TV I just awesome! Handles everything I can throw at it.

ّI think the Shield can do the same plays play emulators +android library is larger+ no app store gatekeeping (any app you like you can install, no Apple rules) + you can use any app store like F-Droid and Aurora Store. Maybe the remote is better. More ports (i think)

I also have a 2019 Shield Pro and it won’t do YouTube 4K HDR.

idk, the current ones are actually advertised for 4k 60FPS

I have the latest one (2019 model) and it won’t do HDR in YouTube. It does 4K but not 4K with HDR. My new ATV 4K does and so does my FireTV Cube.

I am not sure what their latest year model but they claim they can do HDR 4K games. I do not know about YouTube specifically.

The 2019 model is the latest AFAIK. I think it’s YouTube specific as they apparently use their own codec for HDR.

I don’t mind giving them the money to get the new version. Even though I already have two of the old ones. But for goodness sake, please don’t not support the full set of lossless audio formats that you support in the Apple Music subscription that I also pay you for. I understand why it is not supported on the iPhone and iPad, but there is zero reason why it cannot be supported on a device with a HDMI 2.1 port.
