Today is April 1, 2010 and represents April Fools' Day -- so readers should be wary of hoaxes and claims at both news and rumor sites today. For example, Australian Macworld reports that Apple is dropping its computer line in favor of iPhones, iPods, and iPads,

This may be an April fools joke in 2010 but in 2015 it might be much closer to real.

Maybe the iPadification of the Mac is the reason Apple dropped ZFS. Maybe the writing is on the walls. I like managing and having control over my files but fear it's becoming an outmoded concept.

is this seriously a story warning people about april fools day?

Alas, you would not believe the vast amount of cluelessness that exists. It's early yet and already I've seen people falling for rather poor and obvious fakes left and right.

The random sentences (suggested posts) when you hover the reply and new thread buttons are great! One even just vibrated my cursor like mad. I'm not sure if it was a glitch or not but it was awesome.

April 1st can sure be annoying.

An iCade wouldn't be too hard to make, though. The I/O interface is not difficult at all to handle via the dock connector, and an iPad app with self-contained licensed ROMs for the games would certainly be approved.

I want one :p

I think the iPad is a revolution in technology, and Steve Jobs deserves every bit of worship and admiration his fans bestow upon him.

April Fools!

the only thing about the icade that i dont like is that the ipad doesn't sit completely flush in the icade. it sticks out a bit. probably they bring a icade cover or an icade lid as an additional accessory soon. alternatively the ipad could be on an angle. would make it easier to see the screen.

aside of that I would buy one if it's less than $150. how long will it take till someone see's the potential and makes one?

I would buy the iCade in a flash...if I had an iPad, or was going to buy one.

However, I think it is clear that the project of the hidden AirPort provides a context for the disarticulation of laserjet-tuned factual knowledge.

I'm with all of you... I'd buy an iCade! I would want more buttons - four would maybe do it, I think. Also, would need to include in $150 price tag a pretty decent multi-game arcade app.

I join the other posters in saying I would defeintely think about buying an iCade if it was real.

I actually don't see why it couldn't be made. I think the controls could easily be done, since the iPad can accept input from a keyboard, so you thus map the arcade buttons to match certain keyboard buttons and you have a working arcade interface. The only problem would getting Apple to approve a MAME type emulator, although you could maybe get some game copyright holders to release their games to work with it and there you go, iCade!
