Today is April 1, 2010 and represents April Fools' Day -- so readers should be wary of hoaxes and claims at both news and rumor sites today. For example, Australian Macworld reports that Apple is dropping its computer line in favor of iPhones, iPods, and iPads, while ThinkGeek announced an iPad Arcade Cabinet:

Today also represents Apple's 34th anniversary -- Apple was founded on April 1st, 1976 by Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak -- and this week is the peak of publicity and excitement over the upcoming release of Apple's iPad.

While we avoid tainting our news stories with April Fools jokes, we've provided our own Aprils Fools' Day surprises in the past, including our Big Bunny Bundle and Page 3 rumors.

I love the things that thinkgeek and google do every year. iirc, thinkgeek usually tries to pull through with their trick product since so many people want them.

As it turns out, iCade is not a hoax but a confused report of a yet to be released bar device confused drinkers will stick their iPads into and be charged arcade like fees despite the fact they could download a free app to do about the same thing.

Believe it.

Hey guys I read about the forum basically the mods I guess having a little fun maybe it was last year on april fools day with icons above avatars or below your user name. Well I guess they did something like that again. Because in my sig those are supposed to be Apples :apple: not windows

Happy birthday Apple. And thanks to Arn and the rest of the MacRumors crew for providing us with the best Apple news coverage on the Internet.

PS- If I were getting an iPad I'd want an iCade.

iPads will be arriving today at Bed, Bath, & Beyond, and will feature an integrated inflatable pillow. The 3gs variants will also offer a combination air ionizer and humidifier when they become available later this month.
