Best computer I've ever owned.

No problems with the machine or the OS. I have had problems with trasnfering of software licenses from my old Windows box to run in a Windows VM (VMWare.) But that sort of problem always arises when migrating from one Windows installation to another. I'm hoping that running Windows in a VM will greatly reduce that particular problem in the future (migrate the VM to a new computer, not the applications individually.)

One of the first things I noticed, and commented on to my cousin who rents a room from me, is how much better music sounds using the TOSLink port.

Completely Happy

I got my 2.8 Quad Core MP with the 8800 GT about three weeks ago now and I couldn't be happier. No problems with sleep, everything is running like a dream. It's a little overkill for my needs but I really didn't want an All-In-One and I wanted the 8800 GT for WoW. :D Right now I'm encoding DVDs to my heart's content and I'm amazed at how fast it is.

Just wanted to say I've been a happy Mac Pro owner for close to a month now.

Octo 2.8
8800 GT
2 - 30" Dells

Its been running a Handbrake queue pretty much non stop for 2 weeks and was the catalyst to my AppleTV purchase yesterday.

Very impressed with the system, but I still haven't really tested it with all my work applications. (Shake, Maya, Realflow)

I ordered it, then thought about it, and cancelled the order. Then I thought some more, and thought that with the Mac Pro, I don't need to replace the windows gaming machine, it can do it. My Mac Mini is now a home theatre system. I'm very happy with it so far. Being used for a little video work, CAD, I Lifing, Photoshopping and has completely eliminated the huge web of cables I used to have to run a windows box, a few external HDs and a Mac Mini.
:p;):):D:apple:

Happy again....

Since the 2600 XT firmware update JUST arrived I'm officially happy again:

Chipset Model: ATI Radeon HD 2600
Type: Display
Bus: PCIe
Slot: Slot-1
PCIe Lane Width: x16
VRAM (Total): 256 MB
Vendor: ATI (0x1002)
Device ID: 0x9588
Revision ID: 0x0000
ROM Revision: 113-B1480A-252
EFI Driver Version: 01.00.252

I'm extremely excited to have this machine!

Dual Quad 2.8's
8GB Ram
4TB internal
8800GT

A long time coming. A few glitches here and there but nothing that seems major/long lasting (hopefully).

Using to edit a feature documentary at present but also gaming in XP. Run's BioShock at 16x12 with everything maxed, runs Crysis at 1280x1024 with everything maxed.

Run's TF2 maxed with average framerates around 100 with peaks around 200.

In short. Yes.

Perfection

Turned it on, imported my profile from my iMac, got it setup the way I wanted. Installed and additional 8GB of memory (10GB total). Added to 500GB hard drives. Installed Bootcamp to run Vista.

NO PROBLEMS

Back to Mac! My last Mac was a 512K Enhanced!

just to let people know, my first mac pro had NO sleep issues whatsoever, which was positive, although it had some pretty serious graphics issues (with the 8800gt) which I assume were a one-off. otherwise though, was a great machine! Sent it back and have another on the way, lets hope its 8800 isn't problematic like the last one!

NO PROBLEMS - TOTALLY HAPPY

OSX is amazing - I can't express how happy i am coming back to a MAC. I havent had one frekaing problem guys - seriously. Now i am not be a big MAC nerd (more of a PC nerd) but this thing is truly the BEST COMPUTER I HAVE EVER OWNED.

But thats not all folks:

I also installed W*nd*ws XP last week on this goregous hunk of computer, in record time (less than an hour) and I have already played tons of cool games and done some 3D modeling and rendering - its so incredibly fast.

I am waiting to get COD4 and crysis until i finish COD2 in OSX (which is also amazing).

ROCK ON :apple:
