I like a thread that says "hard facts" and then asks for opinion and conjecture, and even includes an opinion poll!!!

...in the areas in which I use my iPhone the most Verizon had very poor service and still does. I honestly don't envy Verizon at all, and I could easily pay to cancel only a $200 contract if I wanted but I don't. It really does depend on where you use your iPhone the most, and which provider offers better service in your area, overall I have had better service with AT&T where I live and travel.

This!^^^

I'm going to start a new thread with a poll.

What's more annoying?

Inane forum threads on the Verizon iPhone
Inane front page articles on the Verizon iPhone
Inane page two articles on the Verizon iPhone
All of the above

Why would AT&T allow the best phone in the world to go on the best network? Trust me they will not allow that to happen, and will pay whatever money they have to not let it happen.

I do think 2012 is more realistic.

False, Apple is the one with the upper hand in this relationship. Apple will decide who will carry the iPhone. It's going to get to a point when Apple will realize they can make more money by using multiple carriers.

Agree, and Android is catching up so Apple should realize soon that multiple carrier releases is better then one.

IF AT&T has the money to cover the profit from an estimated 8M (IIRC) iPhone sales, if they gave that money to Apple, their investors would dump their stock and things would get really ugly @ AT&T.

Why? Maybe ATT has done research and thinks they have reached a tipping point in sales, at least new account sales. They may have decided it was better to have Apple buy them out of the last part of exclusivity (if there was any left) and allow the phone to be sold on other carriers.

If the ATT execs do it right, they could make more money off a buyout than they expect to make over a period of new iPhone salles and not have to actually take on the risk of the new accounts and spend the money to provide the serivce. Heck, ATT may even think that if Verizon gets the iPhone, their service will decline and make ATT look better.

Of course, Apple would have a bunch of people on the other side trying to make sure the deal was better for them, so its just matter of who negotiates better.

Not saying it is or is not (though the preponderence of rumors certainly seems more than in th epast), but it is certainly possible that ATT would "allow" the phone to go to Verizon as it is just a business decision, not a pissing contest.

The hard facts are that at the time of me posting this, there are 36 people that are on crack if they think this phone is either not coming until 2012 or not coming at all.

LOL @ people on this site that really truly have made themselves believe a Verizon iPhone isnt coming out or will not be out by very lastest June... but really more like around Jan-March.

People.... its going to happen, get over it!

ok your partially right. Buuut. I dont see the point in APPLE rushing to releasing the iPhone now when LTE is here. It would make sense to release it in 2012 once they can have actively tested a new iphone 5 that can run the LTE.. What you think?

Here's some hard evidence...

Apple rises as investors await a Verizon iPhone

NEW YORK (AP) -- Shares of Apple Inc. hit a record high Monday as investors expect the consumer electronics giant to sell more iPads -- and finally start distributing the iPhone through Verizon.

THE SPARK: Oppenheimer & Co. analyst Yair Reiner boosted his price target for the company by $40 to $385, saying the company is likely to see explosive growth as it sells more iPads and begins offering the iPhone through Verizon, the largest wireless network in the U.S.

Technically more conjecture, but at least this one has legs. Or they're trying to sell Apple stock to suckers ;)

After that it will be for Sprint, then T-Mobile, then Bosst Mobile and finally Virgin mobile, this stuff will never end, speculation runs rampid thru this forum, we sometimes have to just live with it. I can not wait until it hits Verizon, I want to see everyone complain about the iPhone being limited on their network, or outages from Data consumption, but I do not believe there will be a mass exodus on AT&T, I am here left VZ and will never go back.

OK, for all intensive purposes, WTF is rampid? :D

WTF is "for all intensive purposes"? I've heard of "for all intents and purposes", but not the other. :D

More importantly, why call a thread "Hard Facts", then post pure speculation? ;)

With hype at an all time high, now is the time to strike.

I'm guessing Apple will announce on 1/6 that there will be a keynote in Cupertino on 01/11/2011.

;):apple:

No, there are few or no hard facts, just lots of circumstantial evidence:

att extending the iPhone 4 upgrade pricing for many more customers than would have been eligible, ostensibly to get them to renew for 2 more years before they could switch to verizon and get an iPhone there (see here).

att's constant talking up how their business will survive the loss of iPhone exclusivity (here, recently)

apple selling the iPad at verizon stores, and its effusive language in the press release announcing this (see here)

daring fireball reporting that, engineering-wise, the verizon iphone is on track for a release this month

finally, the new york times, wall street journal, and bloomberg all saying the verizon iphone is coming in Q1 of this year. the journal, iirc, even amended its article to reinforce that it is GOING TO HAPPEN, vs its earlier, vague text.

there you go.

I really don't see a verizon iPhone happening. Everyone wants a Verizon iPhone to happen, but Verizon really isn't that great. I love AT&T's service where I live, in fact I pretty much always have better service then some people on Verizon. Plus AT&T's network is more convienent and more high tech than Verizon, I mean think about it CDMA doesn't have the same roaming capabilities as the iPhones current network chip and also Verizon hasn't even completed expanding it's 3G network. Also being able to use both voice and data at the same time is great. I would see the iPhone possibly going to T-Mobile before ever going to Verizon. Even though T-Mobile sucks. And there little adds about not being able to webcam chat off the iPhone are so stupid, all you need to do is use the yahoo messenger app for over 3G. But besides the point I think it depends on where you live and travel, for me AT&T has great service and is very fast and dependable.

Very small percentage of At&t customers have good reception in the USA...
e.g. You...

The rest of the customer base has had crappy reception and dropped calls..
That is why a Verizon iphone is and always will be the hot topic.

But, the reality is, there are only reports of a CDMA-based iPhone in verification tests. Or, what am I missing... What are the hard facts?

1. 99.99% of the people on this forum have no hard facts about a Verizon iPhone.

2. The possible 0.01% of the people on this forum who have hard facts are probably smart enough not to tip their hands fully, or risk the consequences. What little tidbits might slip from these folks will probably get lost in the noise of the trolls who are outright lying, and the people who saw a false report on realverizoniphoneinfo.com and are copying it to every forum they can find because it was on the internet and that means it has to be true!

So unless someone at Verizon or Apple leaves their test phone in a bar again, it's highly unlikely you'll be able to distinguish the "hard facts" from the fluff, until an announcement is made. So, don't even bother.

Please don't purport to speak for me, or claim to know my experience as an AT&T customer, because clearly you don't.

Cool! I'm a 0.01 percenter! And Mother said I'd never stand out ;)

Well, you certainly act like you know something. ;)

I happen to know there will be a Verizon iPhone. I don't know for sure on which network.

iPhone on Verizon doubters - it's just that, a dream. Verizon will be getting the iPhone. Don't ask me how I know, I just do.

So there - we're even. I don't believe you were kidding. Neither am I. So now we'll just have to see won't we

I may have blamed ScaredPoet for these posts. :p

Verizon iPhone will be announced January 27th at Macworld and will be available for purchase February 10th.
