I mostly care about what I could do with my iPhone for fun, rather than considering the hardware design as a form of entertainment. Wait, you do realize that there is a power button on the phone, and you are supposed to turn it on and use it, rather than staring at the phone itself, don't you?!

It's like a telescope, You are supposed to *through* it, not look *at* it.
I don't see anything wrong with caring what your phone looks like as well. Obviously it would be foolish to choose a less capable device because it looks better, but Android and iOS can both do everything most people need.

I have to agree with @Channan.

My usage is fairly light. Text, call, email, iMessage, some light web browsing.

I don't play games. I don't stream video. I don't do stuff that's better left to the many, many computers I either own or have access to in just about every place I am.

We (my wife and I) stick with our phones for 2-3.5 years. Since any old flip phone can do what I require (and most have decent cameras) that means my (and Channan's) criteria is what looks good to us. It's us that will be staring at and using the same phone for that long.

Fixed. See my previous post. :D

Sorry, I know how it is. My name's often mispelled too (Erik, with a 'k', not the 'c' almost everyone wants to spell it with). :D
My username is my first initial and last name, and people have always spelled my last name with an O instead of the last A all my life. My last name was even misspelled through all of school until I got to high school.

The only way you could be bored with it is if you had a 6s or 6s+. I came from a 5s, so the 7 Plus is a HUGE upgrade. I don't think I'll ever get bored with it

And even from someone like myself, I had the 6s Plus previously and I have the 7 Plus currently, and it's better than the 6s Plus in every way. I wasn't sure how impressed I would be the 7 Plus and it's by far my favorite iPhone to date. Then again, Every new iPhone has been my favorite iPhone to date.

I also bored at times.. thats why i always have another android phone to play around...
But after that i always miss iphone's simplicity and fluidity...
My main phone is always my iphone...

Theres got to be others out there like me....

Your problem is ... you're not a dyed-in-the-wool Apple fan where absolutely everything Apple is the best EVER ... Apple could sell just the case shell, no innards, call in a Special SE, and Apple fans worldwide would still say it's their most favourite iPhone EVER.

Have had every iphone on launch day since the original. Talked myself into the 7 plus even after realizing there was no major design change this year. After only about 2 months I grew tired of the same old design and had to use one of my jumps on tmobile to get myself a v20. Phone worked great and was fast but man, I like to enjoy my phone for how it looks and feels and it just bored the hell out of me. Too slippery to hold without a case and skins did no better. Theres got to be others out there like me....

I'll pass on the V20 and multiple issues that come with that one

There are plenty of other phones which can do the same jobs the same if not better and look way better with more features.

Doubtful. My Snapdragon 821-equipped Le Pro 3 with 4gb of RAM and 1080p screen does not run games as smoothly as my 7 Plus. Apps like Yelp do not display images as nicely as my iPhone does either.

Totally agreed. The honeymoon is over for me after a couple of months using iPhone 7 plus jet black. It is no big deal anymore. The design is the same except for some improvements. So ready for next iPhone in 9 more months. The hype of jet black iPhone 7 plus that everyone makes a big deal out of it will fade. Just beware. It is just a phone after all with computer capabilities.

There are always tradeoffs unfortunately - boring OS for sure but reliable, smooth, secure and safe from carrier molestation. Also, well optimized.

Hardware is lacking lots of bells and whistles but otherwise materials and components are premium grade, design is iconic.

Nope, my phone is a tool/device that accomplishes things that I need to do on a daily basis. If it accomplishes those tasks without problems or issues then it does what its supposed to.
Its not an xbox game or toy I get bored playing with.

Let's face it, for many people a smartphone is just a grown-up toy. Look how excited people get about launch day and tracking the movement of their device as it ships. Most of these people don't even need the latest iPhone, they just want something new to play with.

But I'm not judging. If a new "toy" makes you happy, then enjoy and be happy.

Even though I'm back on iPhone. I do miss some features that my deceased S7 Edge offer.

Low light and food mode shot,
Sharp display,
Easy theme Store customise,
Default notification alert for all apps,
Instant notification on TOP which is very fast,
Downloading, files moving in es explorer,
Swipe down app for home, recent app,
Screen lock app,
Certain news app remember my last visit.....
Adult app hehehe (I'm a man too)

But compare to the Store Library. Apple range is wider, more smooth,
Good app for Musician and I do not have to be OCD to adjust a lot of settings.....

Apple had better cloud backup too.

I switched from an iPhone 7 to a Pixel but it wasn't because I was bored of the look of the device. If anything, I was bored of iOS but not the overall look of the device; but this wasn't the reason I switched. I switched because I felt like the Pixel was a better product for me for how I use my phone.
How do you like the pixel?

I've grown bored waiting for it to be delivered.

Posts about being bored with one of the greatest marvels of the last decade are terrible. Posts that describe boredom because of the design are the worst kind.

I care about what I do with the phone than the phone itself.

My phone is a need.
My phone is not a want.
My phone is not just a toy.
My phone is expensive.
My phone is an access to almost anything I want to accomplish.
My phone was made to satisfy.
I love my phone.

I get the excitement and everything but once that is done then you cant be doing that every 2-3 months.
That can get expensive after a while. I was also excited to get my 7 plus and the new features and speed was a great so now Im happy with it. I use it every day and it does what I need it to do. I will probably keep it for a few years.
Im not going to be buying every new cellphone that hits the market every few months just to get excited and play with a new toy.
I dont need that kind of thing. Some people do I guess;)

That's a monumental upgrade. The Plus just offers so much more in terms of hardware. I was converted from my 4.7 to my 5.5 iPhone 7 Plus and once I got passed the size factor, everything else in comparison feels underpowered and small. But that's my experience.

I'm still happily using my iPhone 6, so clearly I'm not the type who gets bored every few months or even every year.

But I admit, I like to vicariously enjoy every new launch by reading the threads here and watching unboxing and review videos.
