I got one compliment yesterday but generally people don't notice or care what phone I use.

The compliment in question was from a young woman in my doctor's waiting room. She obviously was quite technically minded and had a Note 8 but was thinking about changing over to Apple. I let her feel and play around with the Max for a while while I had a look at her Note 8.

She liked the Max but said she would likely stick with Samsung as she uses the pen a lot.

Other than that no-one has mentioned my new phone to me apart from one question of cost. Got told I was mad at spending £1249 on a phone. It's hard to counter or disagree with that.

If they said you're mad for spending 1249 pounds on a phone that's on them not you... They are the ones who infuse themselves with the mindset of that phone is expensive when to you you can derive a lot of value or use out of it.

I've never been complemented on a mainstream phone like iPhones or Samsung. They're ubiquitous.

I HAVE had people compliment some of the unique phones I've had in the last few years, namely my copper Nokia 8. Unique phone and not sold in North America.

No one's ever complimented me on my phone, iPhone or not. Once in a while people ask me what phone I have and that's about it.

The only time I see people complimenting about an iPhone is in the younger crowds and places like colleges, bars, and electronics retail stores. It’s usually a topic starter when someone pulls out the new iPhone. Normal people don’t really care or notice though and in general the luster of “you have the new iPhone that’s so cool!” has really been dwindling down in my experience. It doesn’t seem that uncommon for someone to compliment a phone but I guess I just have seen it often enough. The iPhone 4 was huge for that, I remember when I got it people were always eager to see it and told me how nice it was. With the X I got a handful of times when people would bring it up and with the XS and XS Max so far nobody has really said anything positive. It’s always “why would you spend so much money on a iPhone?” which I absolutely cannot contest because in general an iPhone 7 gets you well enough what you could need to get the experience of iOS still. I think it’s a good trend honestly though, I am glad people seem to be more humble about it all.

I have had a few remarks on my phantom green Honor 10 but that is only because the back is a shimmery green and purple that people notice it.

I remember when I first got the original iPhone a few months after release. My home city is small, one one carrier had Edge network and it only worked right in the centre, so I don't think many other people had one! I remember been out to lunch and people stopping by my table asking me about the phone! Nowadays I don't think people notice...or care. I think to a lot of people it's just an annoying hassle having to change or think about phones.

I don't think anyone notices unless they're quite techy-minded and you have something which is quite new and rare.

Yeah, that can happen with Apple devices, you become more "noticeable" when using one. It is like magnet that is attracting gazes and grumpy people.

Personally, I am using Apple devices only and ONLY for myself. I never gave a single damn about what will other people say, or if I am gonna be noticeable or not. My iPhone is in the case most of the time, only that familiar, unmistakeable Home Screen gives it away.

Reminds me of the response to the comment which said that "people buy Macs just to look cool in coffee shops", and the response was "Yeah, I am definitely taking my iMac with me every time I go to the coffee shop".

I just got my UAG Monarch series carbon fibre case and I've had a few comments about that

I am an elementary school librarian. My phone is often on my desk so when I am checking books out for kids they see it and ask about it. I've probably had 20 kids ask me since I got it and once they find out it is the new iPhone I typically get an "OH MY GOD IT'S SO PRETTY" kind of reaction.

Adults don't care.

It's probably more of a North American thing since iPhones and Samsungs (I think) are generally more popular there, but most kids want an iPhone when talk of phones is brought up.

Probably something they already own themselves or are thinking of buying.

No, but the Watch is a conversation piece. I often mention it when I see one. I don't wear one, which is probably why.

People like them, and seem to like talking about them. Watch people.

No, I can’t say anyone’s complimented me on any iPhone I have ever owned. I think the non-tech, Average consumer just see’s it as another smart phone in the world and is just generally ignored.
It was more of a thing back in the 2010 days with iPhone 4 and up. Not so much anymore after the 6 design. Nobody seems to care much anymore.
I used to get comments all the time from people at school, just out eating on my own, random places with my 4 and 5 and sometimes 6.
Only got a few mentions of the X. Nobody seems to care about the xs max I have.

Nor mine except the young lady yesterday...but she was even more techy than me and was keen to try out my Max.
